Headscratchers / Kirby Super Star

  • Was Meta Knight under the influence of Dark Matter during the Revenge of Meta Knight storyline or is he just actually evil?
    • I think it was more of a Well-Intentioned Extremist type of thing; he figured that Dream Land would be better off with him in charge. I mean, look at their current leader.
      • It was never stated anywhere that Dedede rules Dreamland or that he has any sort of political power. Going by his description on Smash Bros.com, his "rule" is probably all in his head. That, or no one takes his rule seriously.
      • I'm definitely in the Well-Intentioned Extremist bucket. MK simply wanted Dream Land to stop being so damn lazy and figured an attack would shock them into action. Of course, all it did was bring the wrath of Kirby upon him. So at least MK found one person willing to fight.
    • He's just The Cynic.
    • Considering that the rest of Meta Knight's actions in the series have good intentions (most of them keeping the Sealed Evil in a Can in check which includes Kirby's Adventure and his attempt that back fired in Amazing Mirror), I'd strongly rule out Meta Knight being evil.
      • Meta Knight is the only one that takes seriously the threat posed by all the nightmarish things that lurk in the setting, and he is desperately trying to rouse the Sugar Bowl inhabitants into doing something about it, hence his decision to hide his Sugar Bowl appearance behind a darker and grittier mask.
    • In the Japanese version, he mentions something about corruption, which probably means that he's trying to stop Dedede from making another boneheaded mistake (again, for like the 1,000,000th time).
    • I like to think of it as Meta Knight having staged his takeover to make sure Kirby would be ready to face future challenges. It was another test, which is why he again offered Kirby a sword (a thing he didn't do in Mouse Attack when he fought him seriously). Kirby just turned out to be too potent, completely destroying the Halberd in the process.
    • Given this was only his, what, second? Third appearance? Maybe its just some Early Installment Weirdness.
    • The title is 'revenge' and he is attacking Dreamland, not Kirby. Kirby is just happened to be in the way. My guess it is actually Dedede he had a problem with. The two must be acquinted before since Dedede trusted him enough with a star rod. And despite all he is secretly helping Kirby (though it could be simply a test)
  • In the Meta Knightmare section of KSSU, why does he blow up his own damn ship? Just because he wants to prove he's just as good as that goddamned marshmallow boy?
    • Meta Knight is just that hardcore. And possibly GRIMDARK.
      • Alternately: Some former minions hijacked it, and he's getting payback.
    • This troper believes you've just answered your own question.
      • Indeed, the whole reason Meta Knight did everything Kirby did was because he wanted to become strong, and what better way to do it than to imitate the actions of the one guy who's defeated him and countless others many times over? Even if he had to waste a whole recreation of The Halberd, it was worth it in his eyes.
    • Maybe it's the counterpart of a training simulation. Probably magic in nature rather than technological, though.
  • Why is so little of the food in Gourmet Race actual gourmet food?
    • To Kirby and Dedede, everything is gourmet.
      • Exactly what I was thinking.
  • Why does the Halberd have a Main Cannon #2, but no Main Cannon #1?
    • It's either the 'big cannon' or the laser cannon.
    • Lazy/Short answer: Either memory limitations and/or the second cannon fight would feel too much like the first.
    • Long answer: The Halberd probably does have a Main Cannon #1. But there's no point in Kirby fighting Main Cannon #1 when Main Cannon #2 was the main threat and the thing that (at the time) stood between him and the interior of the Halberd. If Kirby had instead landed by Main Cannon #1, he most likely would've destroyed it rather than Main Cannon #2. Plus, Kirby's going it alone: What's the point of completely destroying the first line of defense if you're not expecting teammates/reinforcements to arrive later? Why waste that extra effort and time if all you need to do is get inside rather than open a path?
  • How did Marx get the sun and the moon to fight in the first place?
    • Who says he did it? Maybe they started fighting without his influence. Its that kind of place.
      • Who says? Marx himself does, in the remake! "I did it! It all went according to plan! I got the sun and moon to fight. I got you to go into space... it was all according to my perfect little plan!".
  • In Milky Way Wishes Kirby destroys the Galactic Nova as well as Marx. The problem is the Galactic Nova had no choice but to grant Marx's wish so isn't he basically innocent?
    • If Nova was without an actual consciousness (Planet Robobot implies that it's equivalent to a computer's AI), then it's no different than someone disarming a bomb before it detonates. Even if it was a fully conscious being that was forced to grant the wish, is that a good enough excuse to let it endanger the well-being of everyone on Popstar?
