Headscratchers / Kirby: Right Back at Ya!

  • Why is King Dedede evil, when he hasn't been since the NES games?
    • This is the beginning of anime-Kirby's adventure. For all intents and purposes, it's at the same point as the NES games.
    • Personally, I don't think he is portrayed much as evil in the anime. I think he's portrayed more as a Jerkass.
  • Did anyone else want to see Captain Waddle Doo use the Beam ability? It's weird that the only weapon he had was a sword...come to think of it, Beam never appeared in the series, despite it being Sakurai's favorite...
  • The Dedede doll episode for reason actually ended with King Dedede being blasted off into outer space by Kirby swallowing up one of the Dedede dolls and is last seen orbiting a planet shaped like him. However, Dedede's actually now back by the next episode! How the heck did King Dedede get back down?
  • Honestly, why does anyone even put up with Dedede's antics? Any time he ever decides to do anything, everyone except Tiff is immediately on board, despite the fact that everything he does causes some kind of trouble.
    • He may have been more like his game counterpart note  before he was contacted by Nightmare enterprises, as NME is shown to have a corrupting influence on beings around them, so the adults are hoping he's going back to his old ways when he starts a scheme, the kids are just going along with the adults, and Tiff is smart/cynical enough to not believe that De De De is turning over a new leaf right away.
  • Why did the English dub replace Kirby's squeaky footsteps with what sounds like wooden shoes?
    • Speaking of sounds and such, why did all of the music get replaced in the dub? The original Japanese version even had remixes of old Kirby songs, they could have at least kept them.
    • Getting a show's soundtrack costs extra, and 4kids was well known for never bothering to do so.
  • In one of the school episodes (I forget which one in particular), the monster of the day shoots chalk at Kirby, in which Kirby sucks up and becomes...Fighter Kirby? How does that make sense? This seems to be on the same page as Kirby getting the Sword ability from sucking up a sword-shaped thunderbolt.
    • Martial artists and other fighting sports participants usually cover their hands in chalk dust or baby powder to keep their grip from slipping
  • Why do Dedede, Escargo(o)n, and Kirby go back and forth between being animated in 2D and 3D?
  • When did Meta Knight get Galaxia and how long has he had it? Since he must have got it before coming to Dream Land, how old then is Sirica?
  • In "Cartoon Buffoon", why does the opening sequence of Dedede's Show Within a Show have the same animation quality as the rest of the show, while the actual Show Within a Show has terrible animation?
    • They presumably blew most of their budget on the opening credits.
    • Either that or, since these clips consist of reused footage from other episodes, this could be live-action footage In-Universe.
  • In the debut episode of ninja Kirby, the ninja Yamikage, who betrayed the star warriors to work for NME swears vengeance on Kirby but never shows up again. What happened?
  • How old are the cast exactly? The great war against Nightmare is said to have taken place thousands of years before the main events of the anime. During this time, Meta Knight is forced to Mercy Kill Knuckle Joe's father and Garlude sacrifices herself to ensure that Meta Knight retrieved Galaxia. Sirica herself refers to this particular event as happening many, many years ago, yet she and Knuckle Joe look like teenagers at best. Also, Sword and Blade meet Meta Knight at some unspecified time, also apparently during the war, before they make their way to Dream Land. Are they all Really 700 Years Old or something and age super slowly?
