  • Dr. McCulloch is waiting for Tamara's biology project when the trip is to celebrate graduation. While some graduation activities can be scheduled prior to official graduation, why would he expect her to have a project on the boat? Tamara later tries to seduce him. Was the biology project a euphemism for his expectation for her to have sex with him? Did she move the encounter to his room to set him up for recording? Am I reading too much into this?
    • It was all her I'm pretty sure from what I could gather re-watching the cruise was a sorta pre grad celebration for the students hence its Tamara's last chance to hand in the project. Being the Alpha Bitch she is she decides to blackmail him instead.
  • Why did Jason go on The Arsenio Hall Show to promote the N.Y. angle of the movie? Wasn't that show filmed in L.A.?
    • Because Paramount produced the show so free advertising basically
  • Why does Julius keep punching Jason in his mask (i.e the best-protected part of his body), despite him no selling all of his punches? Why not try punching him in the throat or something?
  • So why does Jason spend half the movie terrorizing a boat instead of New York? Were the New York scenes just too costly?
    • That's exactly it, in fact. Early drafts of the film had scenes on the Brooklyn Bridge, in Madison Square Garden (where the "boxing scene" that is reduced to being on a random rooftop was meant to occur), on the Statue of Liberty, etc. It quickly became clear that all of this was way beyond the purview of the film's limited budget, and it was pared down repeatedly until we get sixty minutes of "Jason Goes On a Cruise" and the final section of scenes in random alleyways in Toronto-I-Mean-New-York-City. They could only afford a few scenes in actual NYC, such as the shots of Jason in Times Square (where Kane Hodder liked to prank folks by standing statue-still, in costume, until someone came close enough to jump scare them). You can find all of this referenced in the documentary "Camp Crystal Lake Memories" and in many behind the scenes media about the film.
  • Apparently Rennie had been dragged down by Kid Jason, leading to her hydrophobia. It couldn't have taken place any later than perhaps late 70s or early 80s. With that said, Jason himself "drowned" in '57, leading to his mother's own rampage the next year and in '79. So either Jason got split into the lake dwelling Kid Jason and his adult version we all know and love, or Rennie's near drowning was so traumatic that she justified it by imagining it was Jason who had nearly drowned her. Also, Kid Jason has hair.
