Headscratchers / Dungeon Keeper Ami

  • Everyone Knows Morse: Well the timing used seems a bit LONG with timing like counting to three... usual char is anything from two to four "symbols" that goes to more than ten to fifteen seconds per character... it is going to be REALLY slow talking like that...
    • This headscratcher has me scratching my head. Ami knows Morse, and used a sign to tell her friends to get a translator book. She and Rei likely worked out the details of how long an interval between each scry denoted a dot, dash, and/or full stop (I used to understand Morse, but it's been a while). The way they communicated was extremely slow, but at the time, they couldn't do much better.
  • Sliding Scale of Gameplay and Story Integration: In a nod to the games, the story has older-style crystal Dungeon Hearts, and newer organic ones — apparently invented within the past twenty years, since Mukrezar was unfamiliar with them. However, when the story begins, the first Reaper has been imprisoned for centuries with an organic Heart.
    • It is mentioned In-Universe that Reapers are so Awesome, but Impractical they often end up buried, and Ami straight up calls out the Reaper as "not striking her as an intellectual, loathsome violent beast that he was", so he might simply have either failed to notice the difference between the two hearts, or gotten dug out and buried again, this time with an organic heart, and that's even assuming that being Evil, Horny wasn't just a plain Unreliable Narrator.
  • Why are there no Light-aligned Hearts? There doesn't appear to be anything about the operation of a Heart itself that is inherently evil, so there shouldn't be any reason the Light Gods couldn't sponsor the creation of Hearts that are powered by their mana, just as the Dark Gods sponsor the creation of the existing Hearts. Especially since the Light's powers are supposed to be strongly tilted towards creation and protection, so if anything they should be able to create Hearts more quickly and easily than the Dark Gods.
