Headscratchers / Damien: Omen II

• If the Devil has the ability to collapse an old temple to prevent Bugenhagen and his compatriot from discovering that Damien's likeness is on the wall... then why didn't he destroy the temple before it was dug up?
  • To gloat? To give the heroes the realization that they were absolutely correct to suspect Damien, and then yank the carpet out from under them so that they can do nothing with that knowledge except die? Bugenhagen was an old enemy after all and previously plotted to kill his son. Collapsing the temple served a double purpose. And the second time it was uncovered, Damien was already maturing into adolescence and was thus far less vulnerable.
