    Story Events

Chapter 1

  • Eunie's reaction to a assertion from Noah in a otherwise serious scene merits a chuckle, especially in her genuinely surprised delivery.
Noah: We aren't fighting because we want to.
    Eunie: We're not?
    • Especially since Eunie's previous line was "You think we're even just because both sides do some killing? What good's filling up these flickering Clocks in our eyes? It'll never replace the friends we've lost!" Based on this, you'd expect her to agree with Noah's statement.
  • When the party members from each side first introduce themselves, Taion insists that he doesn't have any special moves, only for one of his Mondo weapons to droop by his shoulder with an expectant look, causing him to glare at it. When he insists that the whole thing is stupid, the Mondo wilts away in sadness.
  • In a somewhat subtle nod to their awakening awareness of sexuality, we get a rather funny scene with the men reacting to the women having changed their clothes behind them. It's not like they were watching them, but the simple knowledge that they were unclothed behind them seems to stir a reaction. Noah simply stares at Mio, focusing on her bare shoulders, before getting embarrassed and fleeing. Lanz and Taion, almost in a panic, run off to change their clothes in hiding, leaving the women to wonder why they didn't just change there. It's even funnier if you compare their clothes before and after they change and realize that Eunie wasn't even undressed; she just swapped out her jacket for a different one.
  • When Manana introduces herself, she explains that she's the team chef, responsible for keeping spirits up through good food. Eunie glares at Riku, clearly thinking "why don't you do anything like that?" He just glares right back.

Chapter 2

  • A scene in chapter 2 opens with Lanz and Sena shouting and posing/flexing at each other with all their might, much to Taion's confusion. Turns out they were trying to do an Ouroboros transformation, having a gut feeling that they are each other's partners for this. Taion is bewildered by this and also less-than pleased that this means his partner is Eunie, and Eunie echoes the sentiment with her characteristic sass.
    • Making this funnier, Lanz was far and away the most reluctant of the Keves party members when it comes to the idea of teaming up with the Agnians, largely doing it only because he has no real alternatives. Come the next morning though, and he's clearly already found an Agnian friend in Sena.
  • When Noah advises the whole group to not kill soldiers on either side if they are attacked, Eunie gives a gem:
Eunie: Not saying I'm against the idea... but why?
  • After hours of trekking through the dry badlands of the Fornis region (with the heat-hating Mio hilariously almost losing the will to go on) the party happens upon an oasis. The girls and the Nopon jump at the chance to cool off and quickly go for a swim. Unfortunately for them, Lanz also decides to jump in, and him being so much bigger and heavier causes an almighty splash that soaks everyone. Once he's resurfaced Eunie erupts in what can only be described as an explosion of Cockney rage.
    Eunie: (gasp) You muppet!
    Lanz: Ha ha ha!
    Eunie: NEVER do that again!
Lanz: C'mon! You're already soaking wet, anyway! What difference does it make?
Eunie: The difference is, you're an arsehole! What snuffin' difference... (smacks the side of her own head) Uggh, I've got water in my ears now!
    • While Mio is complaining about the heat, you can see Eunie in the background trying to fan her with her head wings.
    • A brief scene also shows Riku and Manana slowly floating to the surface, clearly unconscious.
    • Better yet, Noah, who had been sitting back the whole time, thanks a confused Taion for his diligence as he removes his outfit, before it cuts to him running at top speed to jump in, followed by the girls screaming again offscreen.
  • Taion being a Captain Obvious about K's healing factor sets up this gem:
Taion: No way...He's stealing from the Clocks!
K: Hahahahaha! My dear boy, your vaunted intuition...is shit!!!
  • Lanz and Sena achieve their Interlink for the first time, and as the hulking form of it rises up in an epic scene while Noah calls to Lanz, what do we hear but a very different perky voice emanate:
    Sena: Hey, I'm here too!

Chapter 3

  • Sena tries referring to Eunie as "Eunie-love", only for Eunie to be weirded out by Sena's attempt to copy her way of speaking and tell her to stop.
  • After their battle with Valdi, some awkwardness ensues:
Valdi: Thank you so much, large man.
Lanz: Lanz man. ... I mean, Lanz.
  • The party has a camp scene in the Urayan Mountains, which brings a host of funny moments.

Chapter 4

  • While the party rests for the night in the Maktha Wildwood, Tirkins steal their food and supplies. When they wake up the next day, they all immediately suspect Manana. While Lanz specifically is being chewed out by Manana for their "false accusations," the rest of the party investigate around the camp and find the truth. Unfortunately for Lanz, they don't bother to tell him, and while they prepare to forage for food, he's sitting there still getting an earful from a vengeful Manana who cries out "On this day of days Manana will have retribution!"note
    • Also, Sena going for Saying Sound Effects Out Loud reaction of "GASP!" When she realizes the food is gone. She wakes everyone up, with Lanz summoning his weapon in a panic thinking they are being attacked. Sena only does this the once as she was copying Manana's "GASP!" from when the Nopon saw that there was no cooked food left the night before.
  • After Bolearis tells the party of his escape from Keves Castle they assume his injuries are a result of enemy soldiers trying to stop or punish him, only for Bolearis to sheepishly inform them that what actually happened was he fell off a cliff while travelling in the dark.
  • While the group are discussing the plan for raiding Keves Castle, Eunie is less than enthused about their exit strategy, and expresses it in typical Eunie fashion.
Eunie: More snuffin' water. Every time we run, why do we always end up getting drenched? I mean, feathers are a bitch to dry.
    • Made even better by Lanz actually managing a solid comeback:
Lanz: "Every time" being our grand total of once.
    • The eventual result of their escape plan is also a bit amusing in just how poorly it actually works out: the route that was supposed to take them out of the castle ends up dumping them in the Queen's throne room.
  • Mio delivering a Megaton Punch to the Interlinked O and P is just as funny as it is awesome due to it being delivered as a Shut Up, Hannibal! in physical form while the two were in mid-sentence.
    • Eunie's reaction to seeing the Interlinked O and P, contrasted with the rest of the team reacting in shock:
      Eunie: Ugh... can't unsee!

Chapter 5

  • After Noah and the party see an infant newborn for the first time in the City, the doctor offers to teach them about how babies are made, with the entire party eagerly volunteering to hear about it with the enthusiasm of naive children. The doctor meanwhile can only give a tired smile, knowing this is going to be a bigger deal than they think.
Doctor: Well, you're in for a surprise. Buckle up!
    • The camera then cuts back to the party, whose enthusiastic grins are now replaced by uneasy sideeyes at each other, clearly wondering what exactly they just signed up for.
    • The normally stoic Taion loses his mind at witnessing the miracle of childbirth and is one of the most overjoyed of the group to witness it, and it's as equally endearing as it is hilarious to see.
  • The party finally meets Ghondor, who makes a pretty rough first impression. Sena is quickly reminded of someone...
Sena: Yikes. Never thought I'd hear someone top Eunie's sweary mouth...
Mio: Don't you go copying her, Sena.
    Sena: Nah... Not my style.
Eunie: Oh wow. Way to trash talk one of your friends...

Chapter 6

  • A Brick Joke happens in a surprisingly unexpected place. Early on, it turns out that Noah is really embarrassed by his own naming sense and refuses to admit what he renamed the Lucky Seven sword to. Several chapters later, we get a series of tragic flashbacks to N and M's life. When their child is born, M ponders what they should call him, and asks if N has a suggestion... he briefly glances at his sword and immediately asks her to pick instead.
  • The party overcoming the Agnus guards is mostly a Moment of Awesome, but the way they take each one down in little characterization-specific ways is pretty funny in its own right. Lanz bulldozes his off, Eunie beats the crap out of hers with some Good Old Fisticuffs, Riku and Manana defeat theirs with a mighty flying kick and headbutt respectively, Taion can barely hold his off despite being much taller than them, and Sena chucks hers over her shoulder. Seemingly not wanting to be outdone, by the time Taion manages to defeat his, Lanz can be seen throwing another one off the platform.
  • After switching bodies with M, Mio spends a lot of the Bleak Level pretending to be her, hair to her waist and all... and the moment she's back with the party, all but begs for Sena and Eunie to decide if she should cut M's hair back to her own preferred length, as it was an absolute nightmare to wash, and kept on getting in the way when she was going to the bathroom. While the player can choose to have everyone convince her of the benefits of long hair, pretty much everyone realizes the only reason she hadn't cut it already is because she thought that Noah might like it, given how N did and Noah may have inherited that. She also feels like keeping it long would honor M since it is technically her body she was given. Basically she has good reasons to cut it and good reasons to keep it long, and can't decide herself.
  • Eunie engages in a whispered conversation with Mio:
    Eunie: Psst... I said psst!
    Mio: What's up?
Eunie: So, erm... you've got... M's memories?
Mio: Eunie, why are we whispering?
Eunie: Roll with it. [for the rest of the conversation Mio speaks normally but Eunie continues to whisper. The rest of the group gets involved and Eunie ends up pouting over not getting more lore]
  • When the party awakens Nia, it's quickly revealed that she's still the blunt, foul mouthed girl from the second game when she loudly complains about the wound D inflicted on her. However, once she realizes there are other people present, she quickly has to put up a royal facade to maintain her image as a proper monarch.
Nia: Owowowow! That bastard... stuck me good, he did! Two cetris to the side and things'd've been a sight worse... [long, awkward pause as she notices the party staring at her open-mouthed] Ah! A-ahem... you must be...

Chapter 7

  • After explaining how Aionios came to be, Nia declares that Z's home base, and the Origin that can be used to fix the world, is located in the unending storm at the center of the Great Sea. The characters note that no one's ever been able to breach the storm, then all expectantly look to Nia, saying that if anyone knows how to get in, it'd be her. Nia very awkwardly replies she doesn't know how, to everyone's great disappointment.
Nia: Right... um, I actually, kinda... don't.
Lanz: Bu-wha? But you're the Queen! How do you not know that!?
    Eunie: This is shocking...
Taion: Absolute nonsense! I simply cannot believe this!
    • After Noah has a "Eureka!" Moment and the party heads out to act on the idea, they then return to the Cloudkeep not all that long after story-wise and Nia's reaction is, "Whuh? Why are you back here again?!". Cut to Nia exclaiming a Big "WHAT?!". The subtitles show everyone's reaction to her outbursts as "(collective befuddlement)".
    • Once they got what they came for from Nia, they begin to leave the Cloudkeep once more and shout back at her to thank her for everything, expressing the belief that in her great wisdom she planned the whole thing including them finding the answer themselves. All she can respond with is a slightly dumbfounded, perfectly-delivered "R-right, certainly." Then after they leave Nia does basically a short happy dance.
Sena: You knew we'd be coming back though, right? It's all part of your grand design, yeah? "The future must be sculpted with one's own hands." Something like that? [Sena and Nia stare at each other for several seconds as Nia silently struggles to figure out what to say and settles for mostly just repeating what Sena said]
Nia: R-right, certainly. The future isn't something you can just be given. You do have to reach for it with your own hands. Yes.
  • Monica arrives to save the party from a horde of enemy creatures within Origin and sticks around because she wants to see Z with her own eyes. Just a few moments later, Ghondor shows up as well and gives the exact same reasoning as her mother for sticking around. Even in-universe the party finds it hilarious.
  • Nia's moments aren't over as, during her conversation with Melia during the final battle, she attempts to speak very formally.
Melia: I see that you're still... affecting that elocution.
Nia: Oh my, it befits me not?
Melia: Do not hide your stripes.
Nia: Hm! All right... Then let's thrash those goons, Melia!
  • Melia, Squishy Wizard extraordinaire, fights with her Ferronis by just punching Z in the face repeatedly.
  • During the ending, Eunie tells Taion that he's her "Fourth best bud," meaning she counts him the latest among the ranks of all her best friends. Taion interprets it as "Being in 4th place," and has a mini-breakdown trying to figure out who she likes ahead of him (and, to his own confusion, only listing men). Turns into an heartwarming moment when you remember Eunie's love for 4 leaf clovers.

Hero Quests, Ascension Quests and Side Quests
  • Part way through Zeon's first Hero Quest we get a amusing look into his thoughts and Mio's seriously mistaken interpretation of him looking at her.
Zeon: Mio's ears are quite striking... Do they really grow from her head?
Mio: I can tell I'm being watched... He must be very wary of me.
  • The conversation following Gray's first meeting with the party in his Hero Quest has another great self-satisfied smug Eunie moment and a Not So Above It All moment from Mio as she diverts the conversation to just ask what Noah thinks they should do:
Eunie: If he does, then we whack him! And if he doesn't, we listen to what he says. Great plan or what?
Taion: I... does that qualify as a "plan" to you? A plan takes forethought, and... planning. What you did is post-hoc rationalize your-
Mio: Ugh... [turns to look at Noah] What do you think?
    • During the same quest, when the party is trying to get answers out of Gray, Eunie tells him to "Use your words," which is the kind of thing parents say to a small child throwing a tantrum. Which is doubly funny because Gray is the actual adult here.
    • And again, when they wonder why he's being chased by soldiers, Eunie takes a swipe at Gray's reticence, which he actually acknowledges:
Lanz: So why were those lot after you, anyway?
Eunie: Is it 'cause of his sparkling personality?
    Gray: Ahh, perhaps so...
Eunie: Oh, so now you acknowledge it...
    • Lanz tries to be positive about Gray, starting to remark that he didn't look like such a bad guy but catches himself and admits that he actually kind of does look like a bad guy.
  • Most of what Eunie says during Ashera' recruitment quest falls under this, if only because Eunie clearly believes she's the Only Sane Man in the situation. The fact that Ashera agrees with her assessment only drives her further up the wall.
    Sena: I see.
Eunie: No! Not, "I see", Sena. Just think about it for a sec! These guys have been killin' each other, having their own little Murder Party! It's crazy!
Ashera: Yep, if you're going to be blunt about it, then that's exactly what it was.
Eunie: That doesn't make it any better!
    • During the same mission, Sena gets to do quite the Double Take when she learns Ashera is the commander of Colony 11, just after she said she was killing Colony 11 soldiers.
Sena: Wow, cool! [Beat] ...Wait, WHAT?
    • Another moment of Ashera and Eunie:
Eunie: Or maybe you wanna die, is that it?
Ashera: [cheerfully] Yes, I want to die!
    • Even the Colony 11 sidequests mostly follow this theme, with Eunie just constantly screaming in frustration at these quirky Blood Knights who make her look like a pacifist.
  • During the second Dorin and Bambam side quest, Taion has one line that perfectly summarizes how the party feels when having to deal with them:
Taion: Once again, prolonged exposure to idiocy inconveniences us. These two should come with a warning.
    • During the last one, the second Taion sees the pair fighting, he just mutters, "Ah, it must be that time again..."
  • How does Alexandria wake up the napping Misaka during the "Harvest Day" sidequest? Apparently by striking her in the face, of course!
    Alexandria: Hyah!
    • Taion thinks she was hitting an acupuncture point to relieve fatigue, but Lanz isn't so sure.
  • After recruiting Ashera the group has a discussion with her about what to do regarding the future of her colony. Her response has them all in disbelief, stating that as far as she's concerned "it's your colony now," and being clearly eager to just observe how they deal with the chaos. Her advice isn't all that helpful either beyond explaining that if the party can get the loyalty of the Three Ravens then the rest of the colony will follow, noting that she got them to listen to her by simply beating them up until they did, but that she trusts Ouroboros can find a better way.
  • When Kite sees Juniper for the first time during Zeon's Ascension Quest, he sees sparkles around their face and basically performs a Flash Step over to them in an instance seemingly ripped straight out of Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
  • Another moment during Zeon's Ascension Quest has Juniper explain Spongy Spuds to Kite, only for Zeon to stroll up to grab the potato out of their hand mid-sentence and take a bite out of it completely raw.
  • One of the sidequests involves a particularly curious Agnian in Colony Gamma asking Lanz to strip down naked in public For Science!. He's gleefully willing to go along with his request, if not for Eunie and Sena's upset reactions. Followed by all of them being confused as to why they felt upset.
  • Cammuravi's Hero Quest showcases him being The Comically Serious as, when the party moves to track down the one who opened Ethel's Cradle in the City, Cammuravi comments how undignified it is for the the guilty party to have been going around with dirty feet.
    • Also during that quest, we find out Cammuravi is acrophobic, and his first scene in The City is a first-person POV shot of him muttering mantras to himself and trying not to notice the huge bottomless pit the City is over.
  • We get a gem during the "Inhumanity" Hero Quest as Sena tries to get a point across, with her voice perfectly conveying how she is trying really hard to pronounce the word correctly despite not being sure at all about it.
Sena: I'll have a dirty con... con... con-science?
Taion: You've never heard that word out loud, have you?
    Sena: Gah...
  • Early on in Gray's Ascension Quest, Eunie asks him and his wife out of the blue if they have any babies, having just learned about the concept fairly recently, and leaving the normally stoic Gray at a loss for words. The way she delivers the line also makes it sound like she regards "babies" as some kind of commodity.
Eunie: What about babies? You guys got any babies?
  • Taion's Ascension Quest gives us a few great moments when the party meets up with the reincarnated Nimue.
    • When Taion tries to dance around how to explain to Nimue how he knows her name without telling her the truth, Eunie gets fed up watching it like a viewer being subject to a Will They or Won't They? situation. This leads to a rare bit of snark from Sena explaining why that would be a bad idea.
Eunie: Gah! This is doin' my head in! Just snuffin' tell her! Ugh!
Sena: Great idea!...Not. "By the way Nimue, you're the reincarnation of my old boss!" Who's gonna believe that? It sounds crazy as all spark, dude!
    • The same cutscene also gets a great Eunie quote in reference to her typical behavior.
Eunie: Eunie is as Eunie does.
    • Around the conclusion of Taion's sidequest, Lanz asks how on earth the Ferronis did what it did thanks to Riku's tinkering. Riku says that the principles would take half a day to explain to which Lanz gives a hard pass. Poor Riku looks utterly crestfallen at being denied the chance to talk about Ferronis engineering.
  • Following the drama of Taion's Hero Quest, Isurd's Ascension Quest is a Breather Episode among the Ascension Quests...which involves trying to find a legendary natural hot spring to relieve his stress from overworking himself. After clearing the hot spring of monsters, Lanz and Eunie follow up on their claim of chucking him right in... by literally throwing him in without warning. After he and Lanz (who are now both naked) both spend some time in the hot spring and try to convince everyone else to do the same, Isurd commands Eunie to throw Taion into the drink to alleviate his uptight attitude, to which she happily obliges.
Isurd: Eunie! Boot him in already, would ya!
Eunie: Copy that. [Eunie prepares to tackle Taion]
Taion: Now wait just a minute, Eunie. I didn't say I was going in! [Camera zooms in Taion's face before cutting to black, with an audible splash]
  • One sidequest revolves around a portrait of Consul K, that he commissioned before the Ouroboros kicked his teeth in. A City merchant appraises it at a massive price for the sheer artistic skill on display, leaving the party really confused as to why would anyone from the City pay that much for a painting of a Moebius. They end up concluding it would make for really good target practice.
    • It gets a Brick Joke if the party decides to sell it within the City: Dr. Hollis buys it and it can be seen in the Medical Center for the rest of the game.
  • Further proof that Nia hasn't really changed is during the beginning of her Hero Quest, where the Ouroboros show up in the Cloudkeep looking for her. Cue Nia wandering around in her old outfit from 2, singing a tune to herself and talking about how it still looks good on her after all these years (calling herself an "old fox"), while also loudly complaining about how uncomfortable it is to walk around in her "Queen" getup - all while completely oblivious to the fact that they're standing within earshot. When she does notice them she is so flustered that in a panic she has to outright ask them to wait while she tries to come up with a proper way to greet them, making it all the more obvious how manufactured her queenly persona is.
    • By this point, no one is fooled anymore by her Queen persona anymore, but out of reverence, still humor her, if awkwardly. Noah, however, decides to be blunt about it for a change.
Noah: ...Doesn't it wear on you, acting like that?
Nia: (jumps back, taken aback) Wh-what?
    • She then offers to talk about Alrest...and then claims it's too long for her to simply tell them there and then. While she's not wrong, it's pretty clear that she's remembering some...embarrassing moments in her lifenote  that she'd rather not divulge.
    • Nia is certain to declare her reasons for traveling with the party are to be able to take the time needed to tell the party about her past adventures and, "...that is not NOT to imply that being cooped up here the whole time is as lonesome as it is tedious... or that I'm well-pleased with myself for inventing an elegant, way-sneaky excuse to get out... It's nothing like that at all... Please do not misinterpret it thus."
Lanz: No one was saying that anyway...
    • Once they accept Nia's invitation of joining the party, she then turns around from them and says, "Aww yiss!"
    • And, once she officially joins the party and the game gives her Class introduction, she shouts, "Oh, it's been so flippin' long! Er... um... what I mean to say is... eroh... forget it..."
    • At the Saffronia Trees in the Fornis Region, she reminisces about Uraya and hints about the Urayan Mountains as once being more than mere mountains (albeit strange-looking ones, by the party's admission), but she doesn't elaborate further. The expression on her face indicates she's embarrassed about how she ended up in Uraya in the first place.
  • Nia gets one more during Melia’s Ascension Quest when the party has to visit her at Agnus Castle. She’s clearly in a bad mood with her back turned and snaps at the party before turning around and seeing just who is there.
  • At the beginning of Teach's sidequest, the party runs into Kyrie. Mio asks if they all look okay to her (meaning, do they look like monsters). Kyrie looks them over carefully, then declares:
Kyrie: Yep, no good at all! You can't just change your clothes as you please! That's against regulations!
  • Following Alexandria and Colony Iota's quests eventually gives you the option to give away Iota's excess resources to other friendly colonies through the Collectapedia system. Most of the other commanders make earnest requests to make up for their lack of supplies, but Ashera just filled her card because she heard that would get her free stuff.
  • The start of Triton's recruitment quest has the party witnessing a huge Ferronis stomping around Erythia Sea. They're initially relieved that it at least doesn't seem to be going after them, followed by Lanz wondering if they should follow it anyway. Taion points out the risk with all of his usual snark, followed by Lanz exasperatedly retorting with a phrase that's doubly funny to anyone familiar with its reputation as a particularly stereotypical British saying.
Taion: Even better, let's make a big sign saying, "We're idiots, please shoot us".
    Lanz: You what?!note
  • Triton's Ascension Quest leads the party on a wild goose chase halfway across the world, because he can't remember the last request of one of his best pals beyond it involving a precious treasure in a pot. Suffice to say a lot of the quest consists of the party getting aggravated at how Triton keeps ignoring them and going on about irrelevant things.
Eunie: That's it. I'm punching him. Noah, permission to punch!
Noah: H-hold on until after he's done.
    • In the end, he gets his hands back on the pot, and finds out that it's just miso paste. Really good miso paste, mind you, but while Manana is ecstatic, the rest of the crew is so frustrated that when Eunie asks if she can punch Triton, Noah gives her his blessing.
      Eunie: Hey, Noah?
      Noah: ...What's up?
Eunie: Gonna ask you again. Can I give him a real slug?
      Noah: ...Just one.
    • During said quest, in all three areas, Triton’s ramblings turn to the topic of a monster encounter, and without fail, the monster being discussed actually does show up in the present time, forcing the party to fight it.
  • The Collectapedia card text for Sif can be quite hilarious, given that it's utter gibberish. The actual funniest part? It's entirely deliberate on the developers' part, as the characters assume his device is glitching, later discovering that he was deliberately spamming the Collectapedia as his way of crying for help.
  • One late-game sidequest has Sena coming up with proper names for the inhabitants of Colony 0. A lot of them are fairly reasonable, like Ix and Trini, but when she gets to No. 15 the best she can come up with is "Biffteen". This is due to her insisting she follow the same pattern she did with Segiri to somehow incorporate their original numbers in with their new names regardless of how much or little sense it actually makes.
  • After completing "The Final Cog" and bringing down the sabotaged Dorrick, Pulipuli's crimes merit an "ancient and serious chastisement for naughty, naughty Nopon": being made to run in a giant hamster wheel. Widgewidge remarks that he had heard that such a punishment was horrid and beyond imagination, but it looks so fun that he wants to give it a try.
  • Nia's entire conversation with Ghondor during the info gathering leading up to Nia's Ascension Quest. At one point, Nia refers to Ghondor as "natural, unadulterated Ghondor". Ghondor thinks Nia's questioning her maturity.
  • Melia's recruitment: Someone walks out of the castle past the team, wearing casual clothing, and they start when they realize it's the Queen of Keves. Then her assistant runs up, begging her to come back and help run the country because she can't just wander around unprotected. Melia and Noah decide she can travel with Ouroboros, and she leaves her assistant in charge, to his exasperation.
    • Just...Melia's attempt to waltz out of the castle incognito, only to completely fail once Ouroboros recognizes her voice. Better yet, she clearly thought it would work, forgetting that, unlike last time, more people would recognize her voice alone, and the High Entia of Alcamoth were only fooled by her masked body double, because she herself barely made any public speaking appearances. And then there's her almost-pouty disappointment in being found out right away, showing there's still a bit of her old bratty nature still there deep down.
    • Apparently, it's instinctual for all Nopon, even Agnian/Alrestian ones, to call her "Melly", as Manana does. Of course, she didn't mind it then back as she was princess, and is happy to hear her old nickname once more.
  • In Melia's Ascension Quest, the conversation with Taleb. It begins when Taleb, the 70-year-old Storryspinner, thinking he's dreaming when he sees Melia, asks for a wallop in the kisser. Lanz promptly complies, laying him out flat, to which Melia demands whether Lanz has gone mad. Then, if you ask what it’s like living that long, Taleb talks about his various ailments.
    • At another point, Melia idly refers to her time adventuring with Shulk's party as back when she was "young and naive." It's a bit of fridge humor when one considers Noah's party have no idea she was 88 years old at the time.
  • Monica's Ascension Quest is mostly serious, but it takes a turn for the amusing at the very end when Jansen decides to take the opportunity to make a Love Confession to her. Monica is just stunned into silence, Jansen's team does a mass Squee of excitement, and Lanz and Sena are just confused about what exactly is going on, forcing Mio to tell them to be quiet.
  • Alexandria's Ascension Quest reveals that Colony Iota nearly made it to Gold rank, but lost out due to losing a battle with Colony 30. As a result, Dame Alex has developed a thinly-veiled contempt for the colony, but especially its commander Valdi. It's especally funny in contrast to Valdi's genuine desire to be her friend, his complete obliviousness to her grudge, and the fact that his win over Colony Iota was by accident.
Valdi: This'll be my first technology summit! I'm really excited about this!
Alexandria: I myself, not so much.
Valdi: Really? You don't like Levnises?
    Alexandria: I don't! Especially yours.
Valdi: I see... Well, I'm sorry to hear that.
  • During Alexandria's Ascension Quest, it's mentioned that Colony 30 is currently facing a water shortage. Did their spring dry up? Were they attacked, or their supplies poisoned? Nope, they just lost track of how much water they were using during a cleaning binge.
Lanz: You have got to be kidding me.
  • Manana completely misinterpreting Taion apologizing on her behalf during Melia's recruitment scene:
Taion: Your majesty, please forgive our insolence.
Manana: Taion did a boo boo?
    Taion: I didn't.
  • After receiving the party's help, Ino proceeds to Flash Step to enthusiastically greet each of them one by one right in their faces.
  • Ino seems... unaware that she speaks as a Third-Person Person.
Ino: Shock! But... Ino not even introduce self yet! How friend know name of Ino?
  • During Ino's Hero Quest, she describes herself as an Artificial Blade and after his affinity for her weapon type and demonstration of trust in her allows him to take on her Class, she declares Noah as her destined Driver, which confuses the party so much they just decide to go Sure, Let's Go with That rather than try to get a more detailed explanation from her (which Ino may not even have).
    • In a case of Dramatic Irony, Sena finds the concept of an anthropomorphic Blade incredibly outlandish yet she's implied to be an Alrestian Blade herself. Hell, the entire Agnian half of Ouroboros are all Blades, with Taion and Mio being a Blade Eater and Flesh Eater, respectively, so the irony's even richer.
  • After the Nopon Eater escapes Ino expresses to Sunny what happened but rapidly Deteriorates Into Gibberish. Sunny still understands her perfectly much to Noah's confusion.
  • Ino's Ascension Quest features Noah getting saddled with carrying her prized treasure, the OP Pollen Orb. Said pollen orb smells absolutely horrific to everyone except Ino and Nopon. Cue the rest of the party encouraging Noah from a distance (with tissues in their noses to try to block the smell) to take the pollen orb, much to Noah's annoyance. When it's time to move out, he chides the party for still keeping their distance.
    • The general continued undercurrent from previous games that the type of Pollen Orb they are dealing with is basically a hard drug for Nopon, with Sunny outright behaving like some kind of dealer at times.
    • The party is rather confused yet impressed when Ino and Noah manage to form an Affinity Link and basically perform a Level IV Blade Special. They don't know what any of it was of course, wondering why Noah started glowing.

    Other Events
  • If they fall from a great height most characters let out a pained grunt or yell. Sena? She gives the most exaggerated of sobs. In the same vein, if she takes a lot of damage in battle she'll utter a hilariously strained "I'm still okay..."
  • One of the recurring mechanics in the game is coming across two rival groups fighting each other and joining in the battle after picking a side to support (getting different rewards depending on which side you join). The funny part comes in that a lot of the time the fights are between two groups of monsters that would normally attack you on sight (assuming you aren't at a high enough level compared to them), but in this circumstance the side you support will fight alongside you, and no matter how fierce or dangerous they normally are they will simply look at you after the battle ends and wander off peacefully.
  • Another new mechanic involves enemies that panic or get clumsy instead of fighting you, or even outright do things like regurgitate onto the ground near them, your characters often reacting to the sight appropriately (laughing if a Tirkin falls over, being grossed out if a monster throws up). The end result is a bunch of items you can pick up without having to fight, even if the items just got vomited up.
  • Hero characters will give various observations and thoughts on different places you visit, some of which can be quite amusing.
    • Should you go to the hospital in the City with Alexandria in the party she will make a remark that indicates the party either didn't explain babies to her properly or she didn't fully understand. Namely she refers to the hospital as the place where new humans are born, but then expresses that she'd like to "sit in" on the "production process," indicating she may not understand how babies are made. Upon seeing kids in the park she will express amazement at the "so-called children."
    • Cammuravi has a rather... unique perspective on the behavior of children in the park:
Cammuravi: This is a warzone for these little ones. They fight each other for territory.
Noah: I didn't realize parks were such dangerous places...
    • Passing by Michiba Canteen with Cammuravi as your hero has this line of dialogue pop up:
Cammuravi: By the way, I seem to have angered Michiba, earlier... She's hard to read. Any ideas, Noah?
Noah: Um, well... I don't really think I can help you there, mate.
    • In two different bits of possible dialog in the City, Valdi's refers to the City's people as "eyepatch folks."
    • In the City with Zeon we get this gem:
Zeon: I suddenly have this feeling of being watched...
Eunie: Guess they've never seen folks with wings before. They're the weird ones, just stare back.
      • This gets even even funnier when you see the origins of the second City in Future Redeemed. Not just the Founders, but many of the citizens were Kevesi and Agnians, meaning they all sported all of the traits of every human-like race from both worlds. Yet somehow, they've all been lost by the time of the main game, or else House Doyle's members like Garret and Julietta would have had Nia's Gormotti/Flesh Eater heritage, Cassini's members like Masha would have Pandoria's, Rhodes would have Pyra/Mythra's Aegis crystal, etc.
  • Every time the party takes Gray to a colony, he'll want to "run reconnaissance" on the canteen and declare it safe as a passive-aggressive means of requesting some food. Eating at one reveals he's absolutely sick of rations. In addition, he uses these same voice lines at the canteen in the City, which he should know damn well is safe since he's actually from the City.
  • Some of the class costumes can look quite hilarious on characters:
    • The Yumsmith class dresses your party in outfits based off the designs of Riku or Manana. Riku's outfit gives characters a goofy ushanka, while Manana's outfit gives characters a pink top and a tiny chef's hat. Hilariously, which character gets whose outfit is not split by gender but rather by their national affiliation, meaning Taion ends up in the pink outfit and chef hat.
    • The Troubadour class outfit is a green recolor of Mio's kimono top as an Off-Seer, and as such can look extremely funny on the larger characters like Lanz.
    • The Signifer class is inherited by Lanz, and results in him wearing a cutesy Sailor Fuku that clashes with the rest of his outfit compared to when the other five have it on.
  • During the "City Clothing" discussion, Taion claims he chose his clothing based on practicality rather than appearances. Eunie sees through his lie and tricks him into revealing as much.
Noah: Wow, that's pretty sensible, actually. A very "Taion" approach.
Eunie: While we're on the subject, Taion. There's something I wanted to say for a while now.
    Taion: What is it?
Eunie: Your scarf is deeply uncool.
Taion:note  What did you just say?! Repeat yourself, I dare you!
Eunie: A-ha! I knew it! You're as vain as the rest of us, you poser!
  • After finding out that Gray is a citizen of the City, he can be found wandering about it. However, true to his terse nature, he will refuse to speak to you no matter how much you click on him (until after you do a side quest with him).
  • Sena's standard voiced line for finding things during special collection quests:
Sena: Hey! That's the thing! For the stuff!
  • Eunie's lack of "bedside manner" when reviving Taion during battle, which Taion lampshades regarding its harsh bluntness.
Eunie: Get the spark up. Now.
  • Eunie in general is a source of a wealth of funny overworld lines (to the point of needing her own folder if they were all listed). For instance, if she attacks a monster much lower leveled than her:
Eunie: This one lookin' at me funny! Hey you!
  • Several collectibles you can pick up are fossilized remains of monsters or collectible creatures from previous games that have presumably become extinct or evolved into new monsters in the time since those games. One such item from an earlier game was the Fossil Monkey. The one in this game? The Fossil Monkey Fossil.
  • Melia's chambers are a Secret Area within Keves Castle that get you some quirky dialog from Melia. Barring a risky fall from a higher level of the castle, you can only get in with her permission. Upon entering she'll warn "no nosying around" and then hastily add "don't open those, they're er- confidential."
  • When the Nopon caravans explain how their mechs utilize far less Ether than a Levnis due to their compact designs and lighter load, the merchant explains it as "Green" energy. The party misinterprets the statement and thinks that the energy is "Inexperienced" instead.
  • The Affinity Chart lists the relations between all the NPCs in the game, and in more descriptive labels than "like" or "dislike." Still, it's pretty hilarious to see that Ghondor and Monica's relation isn't listed as "Daughter" or "Mother", but Bitchqueen.
  • In the postgame, you gain the ability to level-down party members at rest spots. Most of the party react as if this is All According to Plan (Taion, Mio) or acknowledge doing a Self-Imposed Challenge in-universe (Lanz, Sena). Then there's Noah and Eunie.
  • Ethel, even reborn as a child, still speaks in a mature and refined manner. You can find her on the training field with the City soldiers, and she doesn't sound out of place. That is, until she calls Monica's lieutenant a "big dummy" for not letting her fight for real.
  • While a bug caused them to not be audible during release, once this was fixed we got to hear the special lines characters use when falling into bottomless pits. As in past Xenoblade games, they contain some rather funny echoing exclamations:
    Lanz: Spark thissss!!!
    Eunie: Queen's wingggsss!!!
  • Noah's frequent idle animation is to mess with his ponytail, apparently always wanting to adjust it just a bit more.
  • One of the Ogre hammer's alt modes turns it into a barbell. Using the Maximum Voltage buffing art involves powerlifting mid-battle, and it's as gloriously silly as it sounds.
  • Instead of lowering to open a container like the other party members, Eunie kicks it instead to get the goods.
    Eunie: Heh. Come to Eunie!
  • Randomized campfire skits are a reliable source of both laughs and heartwarming moments:
    • Sena will keep trying to catch Taion's Mondo, only for him to make it vanish into his other hand while she stares at her hands confusedly.
    • Another animation involves both Sena and Lanz doing push-ups together. Lanz eventually realises that Sena is doing them faster than him, so he quickly increases his speed to match.
    • Alternatively, one of them will do pushups with using Riku or Manana as a weight. And while Manana simply enjoy the improvized trampoline, Riku will eventually command Lanz to go faster.
      • One of the cutscenes at the Maktha campfire has Riku holding Sena's legs while she's doing sit-ups. Seems like Nopons are generally a good field substitude for gym equipment.
    • Yet another has Taion and Lanz reading books side-by-side, with Lanz awkwardly glancing at Taion and attempting to get his attention before backing down, seemingly embarrassed over needing help to understand what he's reading.
    • Eunie can have animated talk with Noah, get carried away and slap him on the shoulder, with him in visible discomfort.
    • Manana will distract Riku to try to touch his fluffy hat.
    • Riku and Manana also can be seen flexing at each other, apparently trying to mimic Lanz and Sena doing the same earlier.
    • If Noah stands near Mio doing the girls' hair, he'll appear clearly envious.
    • Early in the game, Manana will watch in horror as she supervises the other characters cooking.
  • Eunie's Ouroboros Order in Chain Attacks has her blasting enemies with her rifle, then tossing it at them after running out of ammo, creating a big explosion.
  • One of Ghondor's idle animations has her punch her right fist against her left palm, only for her to wince in pain and start shaking her right hand off because she punched it too hard.
  • Use Melia's Chain Order and she'll finally pull off a Starlight Kick without falling flat on her butt, sounding humorously proud of herself for the achievement.
    • The fact that a Chain Order called "Ether Absolute" isn't some extravagant display of magic, but just Melia running up and kicking the crap out of the enemy.
  • Nia finds it pretty bothersome to keep up the regal "Queen of Agnus" act, unlike Melia. She'll let the mask slip when you least expect it, which is always hilarious.
Nia: (when finding a legendary item) Oh, score! ...I mean... what good fortune.
    • One of her idle campfire animations is of her taking a sip from her cup of tea, only to then being scalded, resulting in her aggressively blowing at it multiple times in an attempt to cool it down.
    • Carried over from Xenoblade 2, one of her idle animations is trying to catch bugs between her hands like a cat.
    • If you visit a snowy region with Nia, she will complain about the cold and Mio will offer to walk close to her so she can be warmer. It certainly draws a parallel to when she snuggled up with Pyra in Tantal. Taion will sometimes ask if he can walk a bit closer to Sena (since as a Fire Blade she emanates a good amount of heat), and Sena will outright encourage Nia to walk closer to her to "be nice an' toasty" should Nia remark on the cold.
