• In one episode, jD randomly spells out Ponken's name in song when they're ending the show on how listeners can reach them. Ever since, the sound bite of jD doing that has become part of the routine.

• The review of the audio book "No More Lies" has jd going off on tangents about the lovely country scenery in loving detail. Pleasant music was added and played every time he does this.
• The review of "Gridlock" opens with one of Who Back When's dirtiest yet factually accurate descriptions of an episode.

• In the "Doctor Who and the Silurians" episode, Nikulele gets a laugh out of Ponken by referring to the character Dr. Quinn as "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Dickhead". Ponken then reveals he got legitimately bored watching the serial early on and spent several minutes writing Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman jokes of his own. They include:
