Funny / Undead Unluck

Go To

Even in a series about tragic characters fighting against the rules of the world, there's still funny moments to be had.

Spoilers Off applies to all "Moments" pages, so spoilers are unmarked.

General

  • Two usual Running Gags that happen fairly frequently stem from the titular Undead Andy and Unluck Fuuko.
    • As Andy's moves tend to incorporate his Healing Factor, usually this involves a lot of his blood directed at his targets. However, frequently we also see a decent amount of blood squirting into nearby people's faces.
    • Fuuko uses her powers on and around Andy due to him being able to mitigate the effect of her Unluck since he's not able to die. However, there are occasions when she accidentally comes into contact with him without anything covering her skin. Cue random lava bursting in the hallway and cut to the next panel where he's healing in the roundtable room. It's even funnier when this still happens even after Andy killed the relevant UMA, which he comments on in confusion.
  • Another consistent Running Gag is in the Volume Extras, with everyone in the cast contriving some excuse to not say their weight in the character info page, or in some cases even omitting the section. Some of the more memorable ones include Billy (is blind, so he can’t actually see the scale), the UMAs (technically varies depending on their form), Kururu (the same weight as the ideal Kururu in everyone’s minds), Leila (thinks it's the same as her sister's but then expresses doubt because Latla has a nicer figure than her), and Phil (notes that his body is made of metal and therefore is really heavy).
  • A Volume 21 extra has a ranking chart of the Union members and their alcohol tolerance. Some highlights include:
    • Fuuko turns out to be so resistant to alcohol no one has ever seen her drunk. The second and third most resistant are Juiz and Ichico.
    • The member with the worst alcohol tolerance is actually Billy, who can get drunk from just the smell alone. It also notes that in the past with their colleagues, Tella was swapping his whiskey with tea because of this.
    • Nico's alcohol tolerance is only marginally better than Tella and Billy's, but because Ichico is a heavy drinker, he's been trying to invent a drug that breaks down the alcohol in his bloodstream.
    • Latla's note reveals that Latla's alcohol tolerance is actually dependent on factors. When she's around Rip, she gets drunk instantly. But when drinking with Fuuko, she's capable of drinking throughout the night no matter what.
    • Despite having never drunk before, Mui's ranking has her much higher compared to Shen, who is noted to be weak in tolerance in comparison.

Intro Arc

  • The first thing Fuuko does after witnessing Andy's Undead first-hand is hit him directly in his now exposed crotch. The icing on top is the Censor Box shattering after she does so.
  • Andy and Fuuko's dynamic in the first few chapters is comedic within itself. An Undead zombie with a death wish paired with a girl who's trying (and for a while failing) to wrap her mind around everything.

Spoil Arc

  • Thanks to Juiz using her powers to quell a fight after Andy and Fuuko arrive at the Union, everyone is forced to act against their wishes. Cue Andy holding his katana to Fuuko's neck and Tatiana aiming an Arm Cannon at Billy... who wonders why it's so warm in the room and only casually questions if he's going to die after learning the heat is from Tatiana's Arm Cannon.
  • After getting her uniform from Mui, Andy bumps into Fuuko while trying to run from Shen forcing him into a uniform. Cue lava bursting in from the walls and cutting to Shen arriving on the scene with the uniform burnt to the crisp, Mui in the middle of patching up the wall where the lava came from, and Fuuko bemoaning she's not a pushover for causing that scale of Unluck from a little bump alone. Andy even comments where the heck the place is to summon lava as a stroke of Unluck.
  • UMA Clothes attempts a breakout through possessing people. It manages to briefly take control of a random Union member, then later Mui, and then latches onto Andy.... only to be taken aback by his ludicrous expectations of clothes that repair themselves and come to him when called.
Andy: (following being blasted by an Artifact laser via a stroke of Unluck) That repair took 15 seconds...Too slow. Make it faster.
    Clothes: YOU'RE INSATIABLE!!
  • The anime adds one when Fuuko ends up mispronouncing Spoil's name as Sponge because it proceeds to show a pixelated image of Spongebob Squarepants and a heavily modified voice clip of him saying "Yay" that contrasts the foreboding mood of discussing Spoil. This is even funnier since it gives the implication Spongebob Squarepants exists in the universe and Fuuko may be familiar with the character.
  • Upon both Andy and Fuuko departing from the truck (Andy to get married to a zombie and Fuuko trying to chase after a child) before he can do anything to stop them, Shen can only quietly stand and tear up asking for Mui to give him strength. The anime even adds an imaginary Mui spiritually encouraging Shen to fight on.
  • Due to a lack of understanding about her powers, Fuuko ends up giving Marshmallow Hell to Victor as part of her plan to bring Andy back, which shocks everyone in the Union witnessing it. Victor acts incredibly nonchalant about having someone's breasts pressed against the side of his head and later tapping against his skull with a metal plate, even pausing his assault momentarily to let Fuuko and Juiz plan.

Unrepair Arc

  • The anime's version of Unification of Language coincided with many official Japanese outlets for the series switching to English text. Tozuka's extra for that airing, also in fluent English, has Rip gripe about everything in the episode except for himself trending on Twitter/X while Sean is still Bound and Gagged in the background, implying he was checking social media in the middle of said task.
  • After having defeated Victor thanks to Unluck, Andy wonders when he'll get his own meteor shower. It having been summoned as a result of the Big Damn Kiss, Fuuko's first instinct is to run away, in response to which Andy gives chase. However, The Gloves Come Off and Fuuko defeats Andy with a tap to his chest, resulting in a combo hit-and-run shark attack.
    • In order to pull said Unluck off, Fuuko gets Clothes to expose Andy's skin. Clothes after helping only has a moment to realize it will also be impacted by the Unluck with Andy before the resulting two-hit Unluck combo. Fuuko decides she'll apologize to Clothes later with a nice ball of yarn. The anime adds an additional scene explaining that yarn balls are Clothes' favorite food with Clothes slurping up a yarn ball like spaghetti, complete with slurping sounds.
  • As is the case for many unfamiliar with Andy, the characters during the arc all react differently to how nonchalantly he injures himself for his attacks and lets Fuuko slice his head off to get around Unrepair. Of special note is Chikara who hates gore.
  • At one point, Andy headbutts Rip via Repair Boost, requiring Latla to have to reset his nose. This results in the scene of Rip trying to casually scout both Andy and Fuuko...only pausing when Latla resets his nose on a count of two and then a resulting nose bleed.
  • The flashback about Tatiana's first proper interactions with Andy and Fuuko also showcases how her armor is a Power Limiter and the entire base is set up to safeguard both research and personnel whenever she experiences intense Power Incontinence. The thing that triggered said power outburst? Andy going Full-Frontal Assault and shoving his wang right in front of her camera, sending her into embarrassed, terrified shock over the sight of it. Fuuko calls Andy out on the fact when he's confused about why Tatiana reacted that way.
  • Fuuko and Andy go to Chikara's high school to finally hear his answer about joining the Union, only to meet up with a kid version of Rip. Understandably, they are just a bit on edge by his presence and Andy wastes no time in punching him in the face.
    • After they finish a brief chat with Rip, Andy turns to the newly arrived Chikara and reveals they're going to kill God. Chikara immediately books it.
    • To keep from standing out, Andy has Clothes give him Chikara's school uniform. When Ryo stops by the classroom, he's confused about why there's an "old dude repeating the same grade for the tenth time" since Andy clearly is an adult man with Clothes smirking at the comment.

Unbelievable Arc

  • Rip comments about whether Fuuko lost weight the last time he saw her before then commenting that it might have just been his imagination. An annoyed Fuuko proceeds to childishly pound on Andy's head for the slight.
  • During a heated battle with Billy after his betrayal, he uses Juiz's Unjustice on Fuuko which in turn causes her to try and kill herself with Andy's katana. Having planned for this, Andy places his neck in the way and he gets excited as Fuuko continues cutting his head off, cut to the next panel where Rip and Latla are understandably weirded out. This then leads to the even more surreal scene where she kisses Andy while cutting his head off.
  • In order to force a stalemate, Andy and Fuuko grab Apocalypse. However, likely because of Apocalypse smiling at this turn of events and the possibility he may resist Fuuko immediately sticks her revolver into his mouth.
    • Unfortunately, she didn't take his status as an artifact into account and he overwhelms Fuuko's mind with visions. Thankfully he's captured again by Phil and, taking no chances, they place Apocalypse in a custom made tiny unbreakable cell, where he screams to be let out.

Autumn Arc

  • We've had a rough battle with Under and revelations about the true nature of the Negators' conflict. So naturally the next mission is to investigate a book of prophecy.... the manga 'To You, From Me'. The next chapter begins with Juiz already giving a synopsis of some of the arcs like the Space Soccer Club Invasion arc and the Rotten High School Melee that foretold the future.
    • Top, understandably, asks if Juiz is serious, followed up by questions on what the manga is, leading him to be flanked on both sides by Tatiana and Fuuko with all 101 volumes. Just a few panels later, Top can be seen reading one of the volumes. The anime also adds a shot while the Union is completing the manga of Top who is still reading through You-me with Isshin.
  • In order to prove her looping, Juiz reveals Andy has a mole at the back of his right ear. Upon confirming it to be true, Fuuko gets flustered realizing exactly what context Juiz would ever learn said information.
    • During the above as Fuuko processes everything Juiz has told them on top of knowing Juiz was likely in a relationship with Victor in the past, there's a panel where Apocalypse, still trapped in the cage, rips Andy's pants enough to expose his crotch.
  • The only way to potentially get close to the mysterious author Anno Un is to create their own manga. Next panel has Fuuko freaking out because she has no idea what to do.
  • In order to increase their production Fuuko is given extra arms like Tatiana's mecha suit. Fuuko freaks out once again because she has no idea what she's doing, again. However, during this freakout, the arms start ripping off Andy's clothes, with Bow even covering Mico's eyes from the sight. The anime adds a moment where one of the arms ends up tearing off Andy's "seaweed", before immediately cutting to a We Are Experiencing Technical Difficulties screen of Panpanda Fuuko bowing to the audience.
  • When Shen offers his help, Andy tells him to just lift weights away from the production area because his power would just get in the way, which he happily complies to.
  • The anime adds a shot of Chikara getting tired enough when helping Andy with the manga production that when Juiz comes to offer assistance, he can be seen having passed out on the ground a few seconds later.
  • Andy casually mentions learning the basics of how to produce manga during the time of Osamu Tezuka. Later, Andy can be seen with UMA Clothes in the form of Tezuka's iconic outfit, complete with beret. Fuuko asks him to stay outside because he doesn't look the part of a shoujo manga artist, to Clothes' clear shock.
  • Upon finally meeting the mysterious author of her favorite series, Anno Un, Fuuko soon discovers a cryptic over-the-top weirdo with a passion for manga to the point he shrugs off being covered in blood to protect her manuscript. This severely impacts her opinion of her favorite author.
    Andy: You still a fan?
    Fuuko: Barely.
    • The next chapter tops that by Anno Un nonchalantly chopping off his arm to transplant it with one he draws up and later whisking both Andy and Fuuko off to his specially made training arc in a plane. The arm does not grow back and he doesn't care because he doesn't need a left arm to draw manga.
  • While Anno Un has been pretty unflappable since his introduction, one thing he didn't anticipate was Fuuko and Andy screaming in his ears to ask Juiz to participate in his training.
  • Outside of certain outliers, like Anno Un's quirks, the Autumn arc has been a fairly serious exploration of Andy's past, Anno Un's backstory, and averting a Bad Future where everyone dies due to Fuuko being killed. As if to counter balance this, in comes Bunny, a young negator girl stuck in a bunny suit who nicknames many people she encounters and typically ends her sentences with "Agoo".
  • When asked why Fuuko knows about Andy's tattoos, she says it's because he walks around half naked. This prompts all three members to aim guns at her. The kicker is Andy claiming he would never do that, when both Fuuko and the reader are already fully aware of that not being the case.
  • Upon Victor reforming after battling with Andy, Fuuko gets an eyeful of Victor's exposed crotch and does the same Groin Attack she used on Andy in Chapter 1. Andy comments Fuuko probably should be used to seeing it by now, prompting her to tell him off that's something she can't get used to.

Summer Arc

  • While discussing with Juiz about Anno Un, Fuuko happens to be asleep on top of Andy due to being exhausted from both entering Andy's book and the battle and her snoring catches Juiz' attention. Andy when explaining this to Juiz phrases it in an vague enough manner to fluster Juiz before she refocuses the subject.
  • Spoil mocks Burn about the fact Juiz was able to use her ability on it at all, resulting in the odd scene of two huge personifications of the world's rules bickering between each other in the background of Juiz and Billy battling it out.
  • Shen does not approve of Mui putting herself, as a non-negator, in danger or her copious use of artifacts due to their effect on one's mind. Whenever she engages in this kind of behavior he subjects her to a penalty game wherein he uses his Untruth on her while describing him, bringing them both to tears because neither can withstand the insults by the time Andy and Fuuko arrive in Taiwan.
  • As Apocalypse gloats that it's impossible to neutralize Summer in its second phase, Shen notices how fascinated Mui is by the artifact and brings her down to where it is before making Mui look at Apocalypse. It then proceeds to reveal the secret to beating Summer under the influence of Untruth. The artifact is befuddled by this after it processes what it ended up saying out loud. Later, after neutralizing Summer causes an ice age, Shen does this again to force the artifact to explain what's happening, with said Artifact complaining about said usage of Untruth on it.

Spring Arc

  • Fuuko is finally making her move to escape Under to notify the Union of their plans. She makes a run for it, poking anyone who gets in her way in the stomach to trigger Unluck.
    • The second member who attempts to stop Fuuko is Kururu, who uses Unchaste on her. Which, because Unchaste works on infatuation, fails to work on Fuuko who quickly rushes past with a poke. Kururu only has a second to react in confusion on why it didn't work before a light panel drops on her.
    • During the tail end of the communication before it's cut off, Andy tells Fuuko that Yusui is sorta an ex-girlfriend, much to Fuuko's shock (Yusai is actually Andy's former swordsmanship master, although she did propose to him). Andy can only quietly admit he messed up after it cuts off before both Tatiana and Mico slam him, outraged he wasted precious time on an important call to say that. Afterwards, they tell him to not heal the wounds right away to think about what he's done.
    • The above becomes a Brick Joke when Union and Under work together to subdue Spring in its 3rd form. Andy ends up complimenting Yusui's Negator ability by calling her a former girlfriend. Cue a very passive-aggressive exchange on Fuuko's end.
Fuuko: Oh come now, she's not your girlfriend! Though Miss Yusai did seem flattered last we spoke.
Andy: Are you angry? It was just a joke.
Fuuko: Why, I'm not angry, silly! It's not like I'm your girlfriend.
      Andy: ...
Andy: Look, I'm sorry. I won't say it again, okay?
Fuuko: Oh, you! I don't mind either way!
  • When Fuuko asks how Andy felt when they were apart, he responds that it felt like death was waiting around the corner. Fuuko interprets this as Andy thinking he was worried about her dying and gets a little insulted that Andy was underestimating her abilities. Andy mutters how words are hard.
  • Andy is explaining the plan to reach Spring's core in its third phase to both the Union and Under members via attacking him and indirectly hitting Spring in the process. What's hilarious about it is because he lent UMA Clothes to Fuuko, he's completely nude at the moment. The panel showing the Under members has Creed just blankly staring, and both Rip and Latla watching him with a befuddled expression, with the latter covering Bunny's eyes. Yusui meanwhile is shown to be heavily blushing and trying to cover her eyes, but she's clearly taking peeks at Andy.
  • While waiting for Fuuko to grab Spring's core, Andy has Isshin prepare some sake cups so they can all have a drink while viewing the cherry blossoms. Rip is naturally incredulous about the fact they're drinking when they're going to turn into cherry blossoms soon, even more so when he finds Fuuko hasn't started the last match yet, and gets more annoyed when Latla agrees to get Spring's sake bottle. Cut to a shot of both the legal aged Union members and even some of the Under members drinking.
    • Latla, who mentions liking Japanese sake, can be seen drinking straight from the giant bottle itself with Bunny helping support it as she drinks, with Rip watching in shock.

Ragnarok Arc

  • Before he leaves with Juiz to face Sun and give Fuuko time to loop, Andy gives Fuuko a sudden hug and some parting words of encouragement. What's funny is how Apocalypse reacts to it, with the Artifact chastising Andy for using the Roundtable for his make-out sessions. Meaning Apocalypse, the mouthpiece of God, essentially told the two of them to Get a Room!

Union Arc

  • After conversing with Fuuko, Akira is dropped back to his home by Move, where his mother is in the middle of frantically calling the police over her son being missing. The stunned mother just tells the operator that her son just fell through the ceiling, much to said operator's clear confusion while Akira begins to cheerfully tell his mother about what just happened as if he didn't just drop in from Canada.
  • The first thing Fuuko does when she shows up at the doorstep of Nico's 101st loop version is ask him to slay God together with her, without any context whatsoever. Nico immediately slams the door on her and assumes she's a religious solicitor.
    • Fuuko resorts to letting herself in via Move's powers. Nico gets immediately distracted by Move to where he ignores his dropped burning cigarette all while Fuuko frantically tells him to help her put out the fire caused by it.
    • Move can be shown enjoying a bottle of cola on the couch as Fuuko brings Nico up to speed. Which becomes a little Hilarious in Hindsight when a later chapter reveals UMA Thirst wasn’t added to the world yet, making the existence of beverages a little fuzzy.
  • When trying to create the Psycho Pods, Nico gets frustrated about a critical material needed and berates the individual who didn't give any hints about what said material is. Bau then snarks about how if only Nico's past self had thought to do that in the first place, which only makes Nico more frustrated.
  • The first conversation Nico and Ichico have in the 101st loop mirrors a similar conversation they had in their first meeting the previous loop...where Nico tells her that she should cover up her "unsightly mounds of flesh" and Ichico bluntly replies no. Fuuko panics thinking she's ruined things between the two and apologizes to Mico.
  • Fuuko tells Apocalypse she plans to spin 20 more times, skipping 20 years ahead. Off to the side, Nico spit takes. Even more so, she cheerfully compares the whole thing to a gacha in a mobile game.
    • Nico gets Fuuko in a chokehold and starts berating her for doing this when they have a lot of searching to do, only for Gina to start rejoicing she gets to visit the future while she's still young and unchanged, and Ichico to start streaming tears at the thought of being able to experience the science of the future without her life being cut short, leaving Nico wondering if he's the oddball here. Meanwhile Fuuko's face is turning dark and her eyes are bugging out because Nico hasn't released the chokehold.
    • Apocalypse meanwhile becomes increasingly annoyed and desperate as Fuuko casually keeps passing up the quests. By the time Fuuko accepts the quests, she's made 26 years pass and the quests in question have rewards in her favor, almost as if Apocalypse just wanted to do anything to get her to finally accept something. Apocalypse by its cursing seems to realize it's been played by Fuuko.
  • Nico is incredulous about the fact Fuuko's planning to skip 26 years ahead since it means the Union's scientists will be without him during that time period. Fuuko then tells him that everyone else agreed to it beforehand, even mentioning how Bau claimed that they'll be able to do research easier without him. This prompts Nico to get mad about being worried about them for nothing.
  • Nico essentially acts like a kid in a candy store seeing all the technology the Union developed in the twenty-six years he was away, with Ichico trying to rein him in to not bother the staff at work.
    • Bau has a set of dedicated restraints ready for when Nico starts running wild, poking around and getting in people's way. Nico's more impressed by the restraints than anything else.
  • The man who had Unavoidable before Void turns out to be a 98 year old man in Japan who uses the power to win at store lotteries. Fuuko and the others understandably want to wait until the power passes to Void before they deal with the Capture Unavoidable quest.
  • The main characters, and by extension the reader, never had the opportunity to explore Ichico and Nico's relationship outside of her backstory prior till the Union arc. When we finally see them in casual situations, we soon understand how similar the two are outside of limited differences in their shared exasperation at the reveal Fuuko lacks a more detailed plan to succeed in quests, leading to Fuuko being tag team smacked with paper fans for essentially saying their best bet to beat Autumn is to leave it up to Gina, who only got her powers rather recently.
  • The moment the group arrives to neutralize Autumn, Fuuko immediately rushes in to get turned into a book in order to help Gina learn the secret to Unchange. Nico is understandably taken aback by how eager and nonchalant she is about doing so.
  • Gina, upon seeing the past version of herself from Fuuko's memories, ends up cringing in embarrassment that a version of her pushing her sixties was dressing like a teenager. The memory version of Gina, unaware of her presence, feels like someone was insulting her.
  • Gina watches Andy and Fuuko in the aftermath of killing her past self, reflecting on how Fuuko went from nearly being killed a few moments ago to crying her eyes out... then she spit takes when she sees the ghost of her past self sitting across from her.
    • Memory Gina at first refuses to help Gina because it would mean helping Fuuko, a romantic rival. Upon seeing the inside of her jacket, she instantly changes her mind because she admits defeat in love and that means she and Fuuko are besties now, to Gina's surprise.
  • Nico cries happily when Fuuko finds a way to allow Ichico to sleep, meaning his future wife won’t die from her Unsleep anymore. But since Nico isn’t a Negator yet, he can’t see Ichico’s soul is watching the whole scene. Upon being told this, he immediately throws aside Ichico’s body, wipes away his tears, and resumes being a Tsundere to Ichico. They're shown even getting into a fist fight when Bau rushes in with the news about Kenji.
  • With Ichico now making use of Astral Projection to allow her body to get sleep, we are treated to the sight of her soul floating in front of her body knocked out in a chair drooling.
  • When it comes time to capture Void for the quest, Nico points out it'll be tougher to both prevent Void from killing his opponent when Unavoidable transfers to him and capture him during a public broadcast. Fuuko assures Nico that she has a plan that will work, but Nico expresses doubts about it being reasonable considering her last plan. Gina jumps to her defense that she believes in Fuuko's plan, leading to Nico reluctantly agreeing to go along with it. Cue the press conference where Fuuko essentially barges in and challenges Void for his title in front of a bunch of reporters, while Nico, Gina, and Ichico in the back watch baffled.
Nico: Still think we should have trusted her?
    Gina: Um...maybe.
  • Void initially thinks Fuuko interrupted the press conference because she's a fan, prompting him to sign his hood with her name and pose with her for pictures. Fuuko ends up tearing up in frustration from his unconscious provocation toward her challenge.
  • When Void agrees to fight Fuuko in the ring, he comments the sponsors and press might be up in arms about the last minute changes in opponent. Fuuko then has Nico alter the memories of everyone present to be convinced to allow it enthusiastically. Void is incredibly nonchalant about said action since it means he can fight Fuuko, which shocks her.
  • After Void provokes Fuuko, Gina begins trying to attack him with Unchange, especially after he nearly punches Fuuko, forcing Ichico to restrain Gina to keep her from interrupting Fuuko's plan to get Void to agree to fight her. She's still shown fuming at Void as the Union rushes a nearly unconscious Fuuko out.
  • During Fuuko's fight with Void, she hits Void with a strike to the chest and it does nothing. Taken aback by this, she thinks about when she used the same strike on Nico, who doubted her martial arts prowess, and he couldn't eat for three days. Pictured is the before and after with Ichico laughing at the results.
  • A Funny Background Event during the match reveals that Ichico now being capable of Astral Projection means she literally gives up the ghost.
  • Ichico can be seen giving Move a bottle of soda, which gives the implication that Move enjoys soda and will accept it as a bribe to use its powers.
  • Gina's Death Glare at Void, which looks like nothing so much as the death glare of an annoyed cat.
  • Void gets teleported to the roundtable room with everyone else after the match due to needing to submit the quests before the deadline, and not only is he rather nonchalant about being essentially teleported, the first thing he does is punch Apocalypse.
Void: This guy isn't an enemy?
Ichico: No.... Well, sorta. (I get why you think that though.)
  • Apocalypse announces the quest results, but Fuuko passed out at the end of the match and hasn't regained consciousness. She'd previously asked Nico to wake her up if Void beat her unconscious, saying to use whatever he needed, so Nico pulls out a handheld device with a set of spikes at the end, looks at it for a moment, and then jabs it into her neck, causing Fuuko to wake up with a yelp of pain.
  • In the Imagine Spot of all of the Negators intended to be part of the ultimate Union, there's Shen and Feng attacking each other with kicks while sitting at the Roundtable, with Mui trying to stop them.
  • As the Union discusses over when to use Remember, Ichico admits one reason she doesn't want to use it sooner is because she doesn't want to spoiler the identity of the person she ends up marrying. Nico responds that Ichico should know she's unmarriable. Cut to a shot of Nico after being hit by Ichico in response for said comment.

Negator War arc

  • The 101st loop Yusai appears and it's shown that her Undraw even affects such things as eating and drinking, making chopsticks or a gourd get stuck in her mouth as she tries to pull them out. And her solution to this problem? Simply opening her mouth.
  • The 12th Isshin turns out to be an incredibly doting grandfather to his baby granddaughter, to the point said granddaughter kicks and shoves him away with an incredibly annoyed expression.
  • Despite being in the middle of a battlefield during an intense bombing campaign, as Fuuko is firing up Disc, we see Ichico's astral form outside her body.
  • Fuuko's first official meeting with Billy in the 101st loop has Billy, laying flat on Disc's roof, panicking and yelling for Tella for help because he didn't know that Disc flies. He quickly regains composure when he notices Fuuko's presence, but Fuuko mentally notes that Billy is actually more goofy than he seems and that that may be his true personality underneath his tough act.
    • Further cementing this is the cover for chapter 154 where Billy is freaking out in space being held by Tella.
  • Fuuko admits she struggled being able to think of a way to get Billy to acknowledge her and Tatiana's strength and prevent him from pulling a similar stunt he did in the previous loop...before deciding the answer is bum rushing him with the entire current Union to prove the Union's strength.
Fuuko: So on that note, everyone!! Make for Mr. Billy...and beat the crud out of him!!
    Billy: Huh?
    Everyone: Roger!!
  • Sean tries to sneak up on Billy from behind, but because Billy is blind and therefore sees with sound, he just elbows Sean in the face before he can stab him, which is only pointed out to Sean after the fact.
  • When Fuuko tells Billy if he loses, she gets both him and Tella, Billy agrees to the terms without hesitation, to Tella's shock.
  • During the fairly intense uncertainty of how to save Nico, Ichico gets mad at his unwillingness to follow orders to save his life from Disc homing onto him and hits him with a fist that separates him from his body. While Fuuko understands how to save him now Nico is left confused at her plan up until he sees Disc about to crash into him.
    Nico: Oh crap.
  • After the dust has settled, Billy eagerly offers his help to whatever Fuuko needs them to do next. She then reveals that their next stop is the moon. Billy completely deflates and admits that he's afraid of heights.
    • Meanwhile, Nico, upon learning their next destination is space, enthusiastically replies he'll happily help with creating the rocket without any hesitation.

Unfeel Arc

  • As part of the plan to sneak aboard the rocket, Gina makes Sean weigh himself and then tells him to make it zero. Sean interprets it as her telling him to drop dead.
    • Intentional or not, this scene coincidentally makes Sean the only character free of the running gag where characters have an unknown weight.
  • Sean asks Gina what they're going to do about meeting up with Fuuko's team, seeing as how the two of them sneaked onto their rocket, which has a strict weight limit, meaning Fuuko's team are going to be seriously pissed. Gina's horrified expression makes it very clear she hadn't thought about that until now. The result in Sean repeatedly turning his ability off and on, which causes confusion on the team's end when the weight keeps going up and down.
    • And much as Sean predicted, when the two of them finally do introduce themselves to Fuuko's team, Nico looks like he's going to blow his top.

Tenraisai Arc

  • When the announcer of the Tenraisei introduces Feng as the previous winner, he comments how the whole tournament is a waste of time because he could trounce everyone present. The announcer awkwardly tells him to bear with it to not kill the entertainment value.
  • The opponents in Fuuko's block mock her by calling her a fat runt with sloppy technique. Fuuko isn't happy about the comments, so she angrily knocks everyone in her block out seconds after the preliminaries begin, despite having been trying to keep a low profile to avoid Feng's attention, only realizing it after the fact she messed up.
  • Feng, as it turns out, kept his word about the stipulation Fuuko made for him to not kill his opponents and raising Shen. Which includes him complaining that he had to raise an infant Mei too, such as cooking and changing her diapers. Fuuko is both mildly apologetic about the trouble but also appreciative of his efforts.
  • Shen turns out to be a Bad Liar as he's unable to hide the fact he's already met Mui from Fuuko and still tries to claim he doesn't know anyone named Mui even though he already confirmed he did, which his sister comments on.
  • Shen asks Fuuko to teach him to be the strongest, and offers his hand. Fuuko deliberately uncovers her hand, and they shake on it. A sign immediately falls on Shen's head. The tournament bracket is also revealed afterwards, with it being heavily rigged against him. Shen has to fight many more martial artists than Fuuko, who only has to fight once to get to the finals.
  • Shen's first fight is against Void, and he's not happy to be going up against the world boxing champ as his starter. An empty-eyed Fuuko rests her hand on Shen's shoulder, and says "Don't worry. Do your best." as Shen curses Feng out. Cue a lantern falling on Shen's head as he leaves.
  • Both Void and Yusai for Fuuko's plan purposely let themselves be eliminated from the tournament once they get out of bounds to let Shen get to the finals. Shen, knowing they could still fight, is incredulous about it.
  • Feng of all people is the one that tells Fuuko and Mei that Shen entered the tournament because of a woman (aka Mui), much to both Fuuko and Mei's shock.
  • Shen, not taking ANY chances after the previous Union member fights, knocks Billy out of the ring the moment the fight starts. It's even the first panel of the chapter!
  • Despite having rigged the matches so that Shen goes up against the entire Union with Fuuko being his last opponent before the finals, she just stands outside of the ring and gets disqualified.

Unmove Arc

  • Apocalypse yells at the Union to stop using the Roundtable Room as a gathering place outside of quests, which everybody pretty much ignores.
  • Fuuko's plan to prevent Chikara's tragedy? Have the Union infiltrate his school as students and teachers, including herself as a student, to be able to keep an eye on him until then.
    • One of those people includes Feng, who she tricked into going along with said plan by claiming it to be a harrowing mission, as a PE teacher. He's not impressed.
    • Ryo begs to borrow Chikara's science notebook to copy to not get in trouble with the science teacher. He's so desperate to get it done he ends up also copying Chikara's name as well, and it turns out said science teacher is Nico, who isn't impressed.
  • The following chapter focuses on Fuuko trying to be a normal student. Emphasis on trying.
    • Gina can be seen facepalming throughout the chapter watching Fuuko's attempts to look inconspicuous and failing at it.
    • As a flashback reveals while the Union was preparing for the mission, Fuuko insists she'll be fine at blending in because of all the teen manga she read. Sean is understandably quite skeptical.
      • In the background of the flashback, Ichico can be seen begrudgingly properly buttoning her shirt because she can't go with her usual Vapor Wear in a school and Shen is using Untruth on Feng to force him to join in on the plan.
    • Upon being told that most people don't raise their hands to answer a question since they're mostly called on, Fuuko proceeds to freak out about standing out.
    • During PE, Shen uses Untruth on Feng to keep him from bailing. Feng tells him he can stop doing that because he's given up trying to run already. Shen proceeds to do 300 side-jump reps while trying to hold back, which Fuuko believes is perfect for holding back until she learns that isn't the case by their classmates' reactions. Fuuko then tries to also hold back...but ultimately ends up doing exactly the same as Shen, which causes her classmates to call her creepy and Shen to pat her shoulder in sympathy.
    • Fuuko mentally remarks after perfectly answering in English class she's actually more experienced with English than Japanese at this point.
    • Shen accidentally causes a bunch of girls to start tailing him because he practiced using Untruth by winking at people, which he didn't realize was considered flirtatious until Mui points it out to him. Gina also informs Fuuko some of the students tailing them are her groupies, to her surprise.
    • This exchange between Fuuko and Gina when they discover the roof door is locked while trying to escape some male students.
Fuuko: But how could this be?! They're always going to and from the roof in manga!
Gina: You're relying too much on manga!!
    • Chikara and his friend Ryo reach the roof as Fuuko excitedly states she must find another way to get close with Chikara. Cue Gina facepalming, Ryo looking stunned, Fuuko frantically trying to explain That Came Out Wrong, and Nico and Ichico hearing the whole thing from the school entrance.
Nico: Oh, to be young, huh?
      Ichico: You said it.
  • Fuuko and Gina having an Oh, Crap! moment when they realize that the sports festival is at the end of May, the same month as quest season. In the end, they barely manage to both finish the quests and make it to the sports festival for the final relay race.
    • How Fuuko explains why they're late, again without any context:
Fuuko: We just finished nabbing one of the world's rules.
Chikara: I have no idea what you're talking about!
  • While cheering Fuuko on in the relay race, Gina suggests dropping a meteor on Shen, who's on the rival team. Nico points out it would kill them all.
  • In order to win the relay race, Fuuko uses Unluck on Shen to pull his pants down, complete with corresponding pictures. Shen is still upset about it months later as the chapter ends with him complaining about said incident, with Mui scolding him for not reading the room.
  • Another picture shows Gina dressing up as a ghost, scaring the crap out of Nico who jumps into Ichico's arms.
  • Feng complains about how he wasn't put on truck-stopping duty, which Fuuko tells him was because he isn't considered a friend to Sean and therefore couldn't turn invisible with his power active. He can also be seen dangling the driver by the leg in the background.
  • The cover page of Chapter 171 has Fuuko and company in the school watching the snow falling... aside from Nico and Ichico, who are smoking outside and getting their butts frozen off in the process.
  • During dinner, Chikara spaces out and causes his parents to be frozen in place for what is implied to be a good couple minutes, making his mother have to vocalize until he realizes and deactivates Unmove.
  • The Christmas extra which takes place during the Unmove arc has some moments:
    • When Fuuko requests Sean to help her with playing Santa, Sean attempts to ask Fuuko to set up a mixer with older Union women and potentially their contact info for his Christmas present. Fuuko promptly tells him that Santa doesn't visit children like that and to think of something else.
    • Despite Mui being fast asleep, she's able to sense Fuuko and Sean's presence and punches the wall hard enough to get her hand stuck in it. The duo in shock proceeds to quickly drop off her gift and leave.
    • Shen turns out to sleep in the nude, so Sean has to deliver his gift as Fuuko refuses to even look in Shen's direction. Sean questions to Fuuko why Shen is so popular at school despite being a naked gorilla. Fuuko responds it's because Shen is both determined and doesn't get carried away unlike Sean, who tells her she doesn't need to state the obvious because he's self-aware he's the opposite.
    • Sean tries to guess what Chikara would ask for, with one of his suggestions being the phone number of one of his female classmates. Fuuko warns him if he keeps thinking like that, Kinto'un will stop liking him, which makes him take it back. Chikara ends up asking for eyedrops because he wants to get used to using Unmove. This gets Sean mad at him because Chikara's wish makes him look like a skirt-chasing monster, which Fuuko notes he certainly is looking like one at the moment.

Sick Arc

  • The Union as a whole is rather nonchalant about skipping 16 years ahead, this time including various other relatives and acquaintances of the Negators that also seem to have no issue with this either, with Apocalypse being annoyed about the quests being used like a time machine again.
  • In chapter 173, Latla wonders if Fuuko not telling her the exact date of their next meeting was a ploy, to improve Latla's fortune-telling ability. In truth, Fuuko just forgot to tell her the date. She tries to invoke Sure, Let's Go with That, but doesn't attempt to hide the truth when Latla sees through her. The next panel shows Latla smacked Fuuko on the head for that.
  • While following one of Latla's fortunes, Leila has Rip ride by on a white horse like a prince under her window, shocking her because she thought her sister's fortune was metaphorical, not literal. It turns out Latla purposely set Rip up and has a laugh about it at his expense afterwards.
  • When Fuuko runs off to get Rip and Latla, Sick is baffled Fuuko ignored it despite it being a master rule, distracting it enough for the Union to hit it. Afterwards, Sick rationalizes Fuuko ignored it because it's so commonplace that she doesn't comprehend it being a master rule.
  • After he and Latla make a cool entry against Sick, Rip can't remember the lines of his Badass Boast, needing Latla to whisper them to him, with her snarking that he doesn't sound as cool as he thinks.
  • When it's revealed Move teleported Sick because the fight was too one-sided in Andy's favor, Move is shown at the Roundtable drinking soda and eating popcorn watching the fight as if it was watching a movie.
  • As the Union and the newly joined Rip discuss the plan to retrieve Andy from the Sun, a drunk Latla is shown gripping onto Rip's suit jacket and eventually pulls it off while Leila sighs before helping her sister sit up while Latla bites said jacket.

Unburn Arc

  • Fuuko immediately orders the jumbo large of the ramen with extra toppings, seasonings and lard and then finishes it in the time it takes for Nico to finish a large.
  • It turns out among the many things Fuuko did off-screen between 1800 and 1972 was become known as the "Red Cap of Good Luck" in ramen shop communities, a legendary customer whose compliment to a restaurant (Andy's Borrowed Catchphrase) would make them prosperous for eternity. Nico is shocked Fuuko is that much of a ramen fanatic.
  • Upon Fuuko challenging Enjin to a ramen duel with the promise of giving him the past Enjin's perfected recipe, Nico actually tries to get Enjin to reconsider because they just need to recruit Enjin to rescue Andy. Enjin responds that he's an idiot and therefore can only do his talking in ramen, and accepts without any hesitation, much to Nico's frustration.
  • While telling Fuuko that the trio (Gina, Sean, and Chikara) that will help Fuuko during the challenge don't inspire much confidence, Gina gets distracted while eating and starts spilling her broth, prompting Sean and Chikara to jump in using their powers to catch it. Nico tries to step in, but ends up tripping on an invisible Sean and getting splashed by the broth instead.
  • To get to Enjin's mother in time, the Union and Enjin use Kinto'un to transport the food cart to literally crash into the woman's hospital room since they went over the weight limit getting from America to Japan. Enjin himself is more focused on serving his mother his perfected ramen recipe than the fact he's currently bleeding from the head.
    • Fuuko and her friends leaving and taking the food cart with them on a giant cloud leaves the bystanders in Stunned Silence, except for one of them who utters "What the f**k?..."
  • After Enjin promises to help Fuuko in turn, he promises to do anything whether it be running a delivery service to the ends of the galaxy or kicking God's ass. Fuuko responds she'll take both favors, which Enjin responds he'll do...until he processes that Fuuko meant for him to literally do both things.
  • Since Andy's regeneration was slowed down due to burning on the Sun, Fuuko has to jumpstart his regeneration in his ears order to relay a message to him...which she does by promptly shooting him through the head to clear his ears, much to the shock of Nico, Gina, and Enjin. When Nico tells her she could have given a little more hesitation before shooting her partner, Fuuko responds it isn't the first time she's shot Andy through the head, making Nico further baffled.

Unjustice Arc

  • A flashback to a previous loop reveals a conversation between Juiz and Apocalypse after gender was added as a rule for future loops has Juiz hope to find a true friend that could understand her feelings toward Victor. Apocalypse, not really understanding what she means, ends up misinterpreting the words as Juiz hoping to find someone that could love Victor like her, leading him commenting about how there's only one Undead and one person that could loop and the following exchange:
Apocalypse: Are you okay with Vic cheating on you?
Juiz: No, I don't want that.
Apocalypse: Then like I said, fat chance.
    Juiz: Don't worry, there's a way.
    Apocalypse: No there ain't.
    Juiz: There is!!
Apocalypse: There ain't, I tell you!
  • After finally finding a lead about the reincarnated Juiz, Fuuko describes the previous version of Juiz to the Union members with her in an almost fangirling sort of manner as the No. 112, 425 member of the Lady Juiz Fan Club. Cue Nico glancing at a random televised interview revealing the reincarnated Juiz aka Julia U. Stitia...who looks nothing like the previous Juiz as Fuuko described. Fuuko still knows it's her despite the Union being skeptical following her description of the previous Juiz.
  • In the background of the Union in London, Gina steals a bite of Sean's pastry when he's listening to Fuuko talk. A few panels later, Sean uses Unseen to retaliate by chomping down on Gina's pastry, leaving her crying in the last panel of the chapter while Sean has some cream stuck on his face.
  • Gina, Chikara, and Sean were the ones sent to infiltrate Julia's school whose student body are children of rich and prestigious families. Fuuko was barred from joining by Nico (implying she WANTED to pose as a student again) because she was already terrible at fitting in during the infiltration in Chikara's school and therefore wouldn't do any better trying to pretend to be upper-class on top of that. The trio can't help but agree that was the better call.
Fuuko: I can be a proper lady too!
    Nico: No, you can't!
    Fuuko: Yes, I can!
    Nico: No, you can't!
    • A few pages later, this is followed by Anna revealing Julia had previously expressed a desire to be a politician...with her framing of this desire being near verbatim in wording and pose to Fuuko's attempt for Nico to let her join the school infiltration.
  • Upon noticing Julia has a line of people that gave her love letters, Sean immediately cuts in line to try charming her in order to beat Chikara in getting a beautiful girlfriend first claiming he couldn't express his feelings through his letter alone, with Gina mentally snarking he didn't even write one. Julia having never seen Sean before asks if she lost his love letter and promises to look for it later before gently turning him down. Sean after using Unseen to escape apologizes to Chikara for betraying him, Chikara being confused about what he's talking about.
    • Gina attempts to smack Sean with Unchange for disgracing the Union with his reckless action, only being stopped by Chikara using Unmove on her.
  • Anna suggests the idea Juiz was Julia's past life and that she was a hot-headed swordswoman in her past life, which is followed by an image of Juiz with an expression that would be typical on Andy or Victor. Julia quickly insists that Juiz wasn't like that at all.
  • Chapter 190 opens with Juiz and Victor in the past having a fencing duel to settle a dispute. Victor grumbles about why it has to be fencing, with Juiz reasoning it's because duels have always used swords and pistols since ancient times, prompting him to comment that it's the year of 2000. After Juiz defeats him, she declares that Victor is on cooking duty now.
  • Julia's first priority upon realizing Fuuko and Gina are part of the Union is immediately asking Fuuko about Juiz, despite the fact there is currently an UMA on their tail. When Fuuko insists they escape before doing any explanation, Julia escapes Fuuko's hold and demands she'll let herself be eaten by Platinum unless Fuuko tells her. However, Shen and Mui end up slamming the UMA before that could happen, making Julia yell at them, to their utter bafflement.
  • After losing the first match, Julia demands 99 more bouts claiming she never specified the amount of rounds they could have in her agreement, shocking Fuuko. Gina pipes in how Fuuko is feeling is how everyone in the Union feels about her all the time, which Sean agrees with. Fuuko is taken aback about being as overbearing as Julia is in the moment before Julia attempts to rush her.
  • Andy holding off the Superior Rules in the Master Room in Chapter 191 has some surprisingly funny moments:
    • Change complains about having to see Andy's "manhood" every time a quest season comes about and he comes into the Master Room to restrain them. Yes, an UMA actually complains about Andy's Full-Frontal Assault.
    • When Andy lets Language and Beast go, the first Rule tells them to wait a few seconds for him to stop Andy so they can all go together. Language and Beast proceed to take the first opportunity to ditch the Master Room right before Apocalypse announces the three minutes are up, to the first Rule's shock and dismay.
  • Upon arriving in Brazil in Chapter 192, Fuuko and Julia encounter Top, who's already unlocked Unstoppable and has been using it to steal and pickpocket. He even manages to make off with Julia's wallet upon their first meeting.
    • Haruka, having been made Isshin the 13th, is a lot more outgoing than her previous loop's version. Her first official reintroduction in the 101st loop is her attempting to catch Top with a net swearing she's not going to let him get away this time. When Top gives her the slip, she angrily tries to break her own unbreakable net in vain before Fuuko gets her attention.
  • Following Beast's death, Haruka jumps into the ocean after Top. However, it turns out neither of them know how to swim, resulting in Julia jumping in after them to help them.

Language Arc

  • Language in the middle of her Motive Rant about how the 100th loop Nico defeated her and she's been waiting for billions of years for a rematch halts when she realizes that the 101st Nico isn't Unforgettable yet and therefore he can't properly give her a rematch.
  • When Language tells Ichico in her soul form essentially she needs to die in order to make Nico stronger (read:get Unforgettable), her response is she doesn't want to die for a "prematurely balding jerk with smelly feet". Nico, despite not being able to hear or see her, almost seems to sense he's being insulted.
  • Ichico attempts to summon an umibozu to counter Language's dragon. However, due to a limited understanding of the yokai, she ends up summoning a cute mascot version of the yokai that the dragon quickly burns to a crisp.
  • In a gamble for Nico and Ichico to survive Language's dragon, Ichico has Fuuko use her privilege to transfer points to another Negator before revealing her next word is "Unfade" note ...resulting in the game literally dropping an asleep Feng on top of the dragon as the 3rd participant of the Language quest.
  • Lan tries boasting about her dragon being too strong for Feng, only to look baffled when he sends it flying in an instant before finding it's reverse scale and killing it. Nico and Ichico meanwhile are excited to have Feng present since he's such a powerhouse... until Feng exclaims how excited he is since he can now fight stronger and stronger enemies just by playing shiritori. Nico and Ichico are unfortunately reminded of just how much a Blood Knight Feng is, and desperately try talking him out of it, Feng just telling Lan to Bring It with a goofy grin on his face.
