Main Comics

    General
  • Most of Kai and Kaya's playful ribbing off of one another. Predictably, there's a lot of it.

    Chapter 1
  • In the first comic, after a brief synopsis about the plot explaining what hybrids are, the strip cuts to Kai inside a store calmly telling the owner he only wants to buy some groceries and isn't going to destroy her store or eat her dog. Not too funny on its own, but the resignation that Kai has after needing to go through this every time is a bit of Mood Whiplash.
  • Following that, as Kai leaves the store with the groceries, he's greeted by his twin sister Kaya, who informs him that the local priest tried to exorcise her again.
  • When the twins arrive home, they find their dad home early from work. After asking him why he's back home so soon when he always works late, he responds with "Not anymore." Hearing this, the twins' imaginations run wild and, well:
Kai: What happened? Did you get fired?
Kaya: Did you light the place on fire? Killed your boss?
Kai: Do we need to flee the country?
Marco: Where the heck is that coming from?
    • From the same comic, Kaya bumps into Kai as he stops and turns around to face their father.
    • A few comics later, the twins' mom comes home, and Kaya immediately tells her that they got the good news— they don't need to flee the country!
      Marco: That's what you remembered!?

    Chapter 2
  • When the Romero family arrives at their new home and see the restaurant underneath it, the Twins are disappointed.
    Kai: It's a dump!
    Kaya: Aye!
Marco: (looking mildly annoyed with Cross-Popping Veins) It just needs a little fixing up, that's all.
    • The Alt Text comments on that by adding emphasis to "little."

    Chapter 3
  • Benji indirectly introduces the twins to Cleo and warns them that it's best to stay away from her due to her being Alpha Bitch-adjacent. Kaya, not listening, declares that she's gonna make friends with her, with the last panel showing her looking at Cleo through a robot-like HUD.
    BEFRIENDING TARGET ACQUIRED. PROCESSING…
  • Kaya's attempt to "befriend" Cleo goes as well as you'd expect: she rushes over, talks her mouth off, and Cleo has none of it. After the bell rings and Cleo makes a break for it, Kaya tells Kai that she thinks they're off to a good start.
    • Look at Kai and Benji's expressions in the last panel. Kai's looks somewhat smug and sarcastic, whereas Benji instead gives an "I tried to warn you" look.
