General/Gameplay

  • When characters unleash their spell cards, sometimes hilarious gems would come from it.
Satono: You can't remember your name? That's because you ate too much.
Cirno (A6):Stop messing around or I'll... deep-freeze you with some English beef!
Seija: Bullets come at you from the front? I wonder who made that a rule?
Sakuya (Legendary Vampire Hunter): This may sound strange coming from the one who is stopping time... but how does this work, exactly?
Kutaka (Underground Waste Ward Aligner): Excuse me. Sleeping in the station is extremely dangerous! When I work long shifts, I also... No, never mind!
  • Cirno, known in the fandom as the resident baka, prefacing the School may not be funny on its own, but if you stick around long enough, she'll declare that she'll take over when Keine's away.
  • Story cards mainly feature characters and the lore of the main series. Then there are these:
    • "Rolling Down the Slope", which features Sekibanki chasing down her own head.
    • "Pure and Righteous Crow Tengu", which features Aya barging in on Reimu and Marisa, with Marisa giving an exasperated shrug.
    • "Lively Temple Grounds" (pictured above), in which Reimu chases down Cirno as the latter causes a ruckus. Meanwhile, Marisa is restraining Luna Child and Star Sapphire, as Shinmyoumaru captures Sunny Milk. Then there's Aya, who's taking a photo of the whole thing.
    • "I'm the STRONGEST!", featuring Cirno freezing frogs, one of which has an oddly zen-like smile and posture.
    • "Detective Phantom Thief!?", in which Satori, carrying a large sack of swag and decked out in jewelry, flees from an exploding Scarlet Devil Mansion, much to the chagrin of a furious Remilia and a confused Sakuya.
    • "New Year's Shrine Visit I", in which Marisa sneaks in a bite from Reimu's cotton candy as Reimu and Sakuya hold a conversation.
    • "New Year's Shrine Visit IV", in which the Scarlet sisters fly a kite with Meiling strapped onto its underside.
    • "Shikigami Detectives", in which Ran sets off a remote explosive behind her and Chen, while Chen dons sunglasses and carries a pair of nunchaku. The structure gets totaled as the two walk away.
    • The Flavor Text for "Dancers Take the Stage!" has a Running Gag in which notes from a crow tengu end abruptly, until the whole notepad gets blasted away in the last part.
      A Crow Tengu's Notepad - Entry 1
Today, I'm here at a live dance event featuring the secret god's two servants! Most of the time, they only dance for their master, but on occasion, they're permitted to perform in front of the public, like they're doing today. I mean, who wouldn't be thrilled to see them live?! Their dancing is just so gosh darn cute— I mean, impressive!
...What's that? Don't they dislike tengu? Well, yes, but Okina Matara has apparently given sole journalistic rights for the event to the Bunbunmaru Newspaper, which doesn't sound very fair. Other tengu reporters should at least be allowed to interview the servant performers. ...AHHH! Cut it out, you two! Firing bullets while dancing is dangerou— [Notes end abruptly here.]
      A Crow Tengu's Notepad - Entry 24
Last time I tried to interview the two performers, I almost got blasted away... but not this time! This time I got what I came for!
Satono Nishida: "I love dancing! Thanks to Master giving us permission to perform, I'm having a blast up on stage. I'm sure Mai feels the same way. ...Hang on. You're a tengu, aren't you?"
Mai Teireida: "Just like Satono, I love dancing, and I'm super grateful to Master! She even comes to watch us perform! ...By the way, you're a tengu, right?"
My, look at the time. I have other locations to visit, so I best be off. Thank you so much for the interviews, you two! W-Wait, I told you bullets were dangerou- [Notes end abruptly here.]
      A Crow Tengu's Notepad - Entry 33
"Thanks for coming to see us perform today, everyone!" "This is a day for celebration! Things might get a little dangerous, but let's make sure we all have a great time!"
Cheers echo through the venue. I'm dressed just like any other fan, and I'm ready to do some undercover reporting! But wow, their dancing and how they connect with the audience really is amazing! It's such a great show! Oh, boy. I feel like I might get swept up in the moment and forget why I'm really here! Satonooo! Maiiii! Whoa, they looked right this way! Boy, I better start cheering even louder!
...Huh? They were only looking this way because I'm a tengu? Don't be silly. Wow! Now they're firing bullets this way to show their appreciati—[Hastily written notes end abruptly here.]
      A Crow Tengu's Notepad - Entry 34
As I'm jumping and screaming along with the performance on stage, I hear a "door" open behind me. I turn around to find... Okina Matara! Is this my chance to one-up the Bunbunmaru Newspaper and get an exclusive interview?! (Unfortunately, I'm kitted out head to toe in Mai and Satono fan goods and clothes right now... Ah, well!) Time for an interview with the secret god, who, for some reason, just appeared behind me!
Okina: "I'm only here to see my adorable servants perform, you know?"
Me: "Is that so?! I kind of figured as much, but still! Right, next question!"
Okina: "Don't push your luck!" [Notepad ripped away below this point.]
      A Crow Tengu's Notepad - Entry ??
As long as I'm alive, I'll keep reporting. That's what it means to be a journalist!
Okina: "My adorable servants are often asked to perform like this. There's nothing wrong with that... I suppose."
Me: "Aren't you the one who gave them permission?"
Okina: "They're MY servants, you hear me?!"
Yikes, I don't like where this is going.
Me: "Th-Thanks for letting me interview you—"
Okina: "Wait. Tell me about your outfit. Seems like you're a big fan of Satono and Mai."
Me: "I'm only wearing all this so I can do some undercover reporting. To be honest, I'm barely a fan-" [Notepad blasted away below this point.]
    • "Boo!", in which Kogasa appears on the card in another attempt to surprise the player.
    • The Flavor Text for "The Magic Bakery!" has a brief description of Narumi like most other story cards. However, this time, the text is actually written by Narumi, who admits she's writing about herself in the third person.

  • Some attacks have hilarious animations:
    • Aunn's "Spinning Top: Koma-Inu Spin" has her spin a top with a parasol. The top revs up, falls off the parasol, Aunn tries to contain it, then it slams into her target while still spinning.
    • Both of Kosuzu's normal spell cards: "Flying Book: The 6th Vision of Zechariah" has her fly on a scroll slamming her foes until crashing into the ground, while "Original Text: Hotsuma Tsutae" conjures a rift that makes her recoil, leaving her to lookaround as the rift closes.
    • Medicine's Last Word, "Return of Happiness", has her skip in a field of flowers, only to trip and spill poison in a deluge over her foes.
    • Rin's Last Word, "Morgue Street Grand Prix - Dead Heat", has Rin rev up her wheelbarrow, to the point where she loses control, lets go, and face faults. She does cheer when she sees the wheelbarrow ram into her foes.
    • Benben's Last Word, "Kenjou - Imperial Palace Inferno" has her set the room ablaze as a nod to an old Japanese lore revolving around a old resentful biwa. Once the ceiling starts crashing down, Benben freaks out and hightails it so she won't get crushed.
    • Shion's Last Word, "Lost 20 Years", has Shion panic as a stock graph appears with a rising arrow. Shion then grabs the arrow and rips part of it off before slamming it into her opponent.
    • Junko (B2)'s spread and focus shots, "Little Moon Eater" and "Chipper Dragon". The former has her summon three small dragons to attack one foe, with the third showing confusion before attacking. The latter has her summon a large rotund dragon with Ridiculously Small Wings who tries to hover, only to drop on her foes squashing them and becomes dazed with Circling Birdies.
    • Koakuma (E1)'s Last Word, "Szilard's Engine", has a wall of turning gears appear in the background. Koakuma tosses a small cog at her foes, and it hits the gear wall, causing all the gears to come crashing down. Her Oh, Crap! reaction is what sells it.
    • Koishi (F1)'s spell card, "Heart Sign: Selfless Love", has her approach her foes only to be blocked by a wall of hearts. The hearts surround her and her foes as she panics, and then they attack her foes.
    • Marisa (A7B)'s version of "Love Sign: Master Spark" has the Master Spark fire from her hakkero in such a way as to give knockback, causing her hat to fly off. It ends with Marisa rushing back to retrieve it.
    • Kogasa's spell card "Umbrella Sign: Lightly Falling Large Raindrops" has her cry a fountain of tears out of her umbrella, and then blows a raspberry.
    • Sanae (F1)'s Last Word, "Beloved Gensokyo", has Sanae run frantically left and right while Kanako and Suwako attack by raining down pillars and frogs.
    • Mamizou's spell card "Humans Are Nice!" has a bunch of tanuki mooks appear and dance with her.
  • Kanako's alternate costume for the first anniversary is normal enough, but what takes the cake is the character splash that goes with it. While also heartwarming in that Sanae and Suwako are featured, the photobombing from Suwako makes it hilarious.
  • In general, the events will go out of their way to give humorous names to the enemies you fight, even the generic ones. It's often worth it to not use the automatic battle modes just to see them and have a little laugh.
    • An example of this is all the Mooks in Trick or Bullet having various candy names as their titles, as if they're demanding them.
    • Battling the mooks in Yakumo's Ambition on Lunatic reveals them as otaku. Common interests include Kasenman or Okinaman, though other fictional franchises were brought up based on greater entities of the series. One wolf tengu even wants an anime adaptation!
    • During the Club Old Desire's Consultation Crew episode "The First Client", one sunflower fairy on Normal has the epithet "Notice Me, Marisa Senpai".
    • During the "Hakurei Shrine Academy Adventure Remilienteering" episode "A Parting Gift", the ephitet for Koakuma on Lunatic reads "Don't Hunt Me for XP!"
    • During "Anti-Misfortune Grand Prix", the stage "Attack! Third Corner" on Hard shows off just how much of a birdbrain Utsuho can be.
Saki's blurb: "Let the muscles explode!"
      Utsuho's blurb: "Explosion! Got it!"
Aya's blurb: "Please don't blow yourself up!"
  • Upon clearing a battle, your units will typically celebrate the win. These stand out in hilarity, however:
    • Cirno (L1 and A6) points and laughs.
    • Seija throws a tantrum.
    • Nazrin's dowsing rods grab on to her.
    • Yuuka (H5) pours contents of one flask into another, and the combined chemical combusts, giving her an Ash Face.
    • Kagerou twirls and exposes her tail, then she rehides it while looking embarrassed.
    • Tewi (A8) pulls out an enormous carrot, and hugs it.
    • Hatate takes a selfie with her flip phone.
    • Kogasa (C3) lets go of her umbrella, but it pushes her down and taunts her.
    • Aunn does dog zoomies.
    • Reimu (A7B) sneezes, and covers her mouth.
    • Yachie grabs an otter spirit, and cuddles it.
    • Youmu (C3) eats a plate of sushi, and gets rice on her face.
  • The Valentine's login bonuses for 2023 is hosted by Seija in her pink bunny maid costume, acting flustered to the point where she was rendered unable to use Scare Quotes to indicate what words are being inverted.
"P-Princess! When I said I wanted to wear this cute costume, I didn't mean...! HUH?! It suits me? That doesn't make me happy at all!"
  • Flavor Text for costumes usually have a detailed description of what the character is currently wearing. However, the one for B2 Junko reads "Junko, the Space Terror's usual outfit. Hey! Don't call me small!"
  • Should you summon Tenshi (T5), she introduces herself and her bike, Flaming Gale... and apparently the bike wanted to declare itself as not her property, so she snaps back.

Home Screen quotes

  • Utsuho has a few gems in her home screen quotes.
    • She mentions an attempt at using her nuclear power... to cook an egg. She admits it's not going well.
    • Her task alert message has her ask what a task is.
  • In one of Aunn's home screen quotes, she recounts when Suika used Aunn's horn as a coat rack when she was still a komainu statue.
  • Seasonal quotes are a good source of laughs:
    • In winter, characters will generally complain about how cold it is. Cirno, naturally, gets excited instead, and chastises the player for complaining about it.
    • In summer, characters such as Eiki and Junko will talk about the sun's power and necessity for life on earth before eventually complaining about how hot it is.
    • In autumn, Sakuya (A6) mentions how she uses her time stop powers to outprank fairies by slipping some snacks into their pockets.
    • Kutaka's winter quote has her gleefully wonder about "roast chicken" and "fried chicken" and their significance during the season. Quite a whiplash when her autumn quote has her feel sorrowful for the chickens in the village harvest festival...
    • Sekibanki's spring quote has her confess that the air makes her nod off, causing her head to roll off in the process.
  • Blue Reimu (F1), implied to come from one of the game's most dangerous and devastated timelines... admits to doing the bare minimum of training, and balks at doing tasks with the player.
  • Mystia will outright state she's considering making the player night-blind, but that it might be tricky because they have good eyesight.
  • Yukari (C3)'s task alert message encourages the player to ignore their tasks and come swimming with her instead.
    • Another of her home screen quotes reveals that she somehow got hold of Kogasa, Remilia, and Yuuka's umbrellas.
  • Sakuya (L80) insists that her two knives are not swords... right before she calls them swords and catches herself doing so.
  • If you log in and are greeted by Sunny Milk (A6), she declares that it's time for her to be a hard-working fairy maid, only to realize that the real fairy maids at the mansion are not hard workers.
  • Byakuren (T5)'s task notification message has her attempt to headpat the protagonist only to realize it's too soon.

Story

  • Epilogue of Chapter 3
    • The three main heroes manage to escape the final chapter boss area... and Seija ends up being a Living Crashpad for each of them as they return, to her chagrin.
    • Okina shares the messages from everyone the group has met as the main group is about to leave. For the most part, they were giving thanks. Then there's Shion:
"Why was I called here? I'm starving... please give me some food."
  • "The Edge of Spacetime"
    • At the Palace of the Earth Spirits, Miko, Byakuren, and the protagonist hear a meow. They find an adorable cat. Byakuren tries to get it to shake, but it scratches her.
  • Interlude Episode 3
    • Nemuno and Sannyo fiercely compete against each other for a chance to headpat the protagonist, and Mike goes out of her way to intervene and drag the protagonist out.
    • Sumireko constantly giving everyone—including the protagonist—nicknames, with varying degrees of distain from the targets of said nicknames.
  • Chapter 4, Act 2
  • "Story Card Travelogue"
    • "My Lunatic World" has Hecatia and Junko taking Clownpiece to the amusement park at the Dream World. Clownpiece runs into Doremy, and reveals she's the owner, the ticket taker, the ice cream woman, the balloon saleswoman, and the show performer. Doremy then adds that she's also the park's mascot, and sobs because of how overworked she is.
    • Many of the chapters are often either somber or heartwarming in tone... and then there's the chapter titled "The Horned Owl and The Bat" (which, yes, is referencing exactly what you think it is; the associated story card attained from it is even drawn by Kawayabug). Naturally, the jokes revolve around Remilia and Miko's charisma (or lack thereof.)
      • First, when discussing how their counterparts from said series differ:
Remilia: Our jokes aren't as funny, and our timing is slightly off. We don't really stand out from each other, either.
Miko: Stop! You've said enough already! If you keep going, our already broken charisma will get smashed and ground up 'till nothing's left! Nothing but dust!
      Remilia: Dust? Why not flour?!
Miko: Get a grip, Remilia! Now everyone knows your jokes are awful! Your charisma's breaking more and more every second!
      • And of course, when they try to point out their good qualities in comparison to those versions, they end up drawing a blank, frustrating them to no end:
Remilia: How can their lack of charisma be so charismatic?!
        Miko: That's impossible for us!
  • Chapter 4, Act 3
    • When the Scarlet sisters bicker, Koishi wanted to join in, but Satori tells her off.
    • Remilia (E9) and Satori (S2) call a truce as they exhausted themselves. The two decided to have tea and part ways for the time being. When they do, the two summoned Sakuyas instinctively follow Remilia, and she notices. Sakuya (E1) pleads if she can keep her alternate selves, like a kid with a stray pet.

  • "The Shadow of the Tower"
    • Alice has Rumia use her ability to protect everyone from the harsh sun. She has the protagonist step outside her darkness, and lead them. However, Rumia uses this time to try and eat the protagonist's hand.

  • Chapter 4, Act 3 EX
    • Flandre puts Kogasa through a Training Montage to get better at baseball. The protagonist asks Flandre if it will really help her. Flandre says she has no idea.
    • After finishing her training, Kogasa discovers what she's been lacking. She was already good at baseball, she just needed friends to form a team, and assembles a team of tsukumogami to fight the protagonist. Flandre then asks what the point of the training even was.
    • During a chat with Yukari, The Witch of Scarlet Dreams calls her "Reimu's youkai mom".
    • After Remilia gives Shion a pep talk, Flandre asks herself why Remilia got more lines than her.

Events

  • "Phantom-Human Maid for a Day"
    • Sakuya leaves to find Remilia a unique pet. She returns with Rin, who causes a ruckus and dishes out cat puns.
  • "Oni, Maids, and Chocolate":
    • The game's insistence on referring to chocolate exclusively as "bean sweets".
    • The reason the event kicks off is because Suika, Yuugi, and Kasen want to build up their resistance to beans at Setsubun by eating them.
    • In the EX stage, Letty Whiterock uses her power over winter to... mug Remillia, Suika, Yuugi, and Kasen for chocolate.
  • "Spring Festival of Swords":
    • As Youmu and Yuyuko prepare for a festival for an egg that the latter found, they caught Marisa trying to snatch it up. Marisa's epithets in the battle that ensued? In Normal, she's labeled as the "Egg-Borrowing Witch". In Lunatic? "(My Broom Needs an Update)".
    • Toyohime notes that she specifically made the activation sequence for her Absolute Egg Chef machine nonsensical and convoluted in order to prevent accidental activation. Naturally, the festival somehow followed this exact sequence.
  • "Yakumo's Ambition"
    • The side personalities assigned to Ran and Chen for the simulation. Ran's has her eat fried tofu behind President Yukari's back, while Chen's has her fall over chasing her tails. Their reactions are priceless.
    • Reimu's own Student Council consists of, according to her, Guardian Beast (Aunn), Floor Heater (Clownpiece), and Squatters (the Three Fairies of Light). Their assigned roles for the simulation?
      • Reimu is a President who doesn't do anything.
      • For the Fairies of Light, Sunny and Luna keep pudding and shaved ice in the fridge, which Star then eats.
      • Clownpiece was meant to spy on the Hakurei Student Council, but she forgot.
      • Aunn had to shoulder all the work.
    • The Scarlet Devil Council's gimmick is constantly changing clothes to suit the mood, so everyone is dressed as maids. Patchouli complains that she was out of clothes to wear due to a laundry mishap, and asks Koakuma if she can loan an outfit from her.
    • As the Scarlet Devil Council's plotline is wrapping up, Ran's only comment is "(What exactly are we witnessing...?!)"
    • Yukari manages to create a projection of herself in order to have Yuyuko let go of the protagonist's journal. Yuyuko was at first overjoyed, but was disappointed when she could phase through the projected Yukari. Youmu was shocked when she finds herself phasing through Yukari... and faints.
    • Yukari's bio for Yorihime, ESC's Far VP, hints at a weakness for cute things.
    • In the end, when the culprit was revealed, it turns out she just wanted to make a movie featuring Mokou, Kaguya, and Keine. As the three examine the script, they find that they're being shipped into a Love Triangle with one another. Recall that Mokou and Kaguya see themselves as fierce foes.
    • Most characters use event costumes throughout the event. When questioned about why other characters don't have costumes, Yukari sheepishly explains that she didn't finish the textures for them before launching her game.
    • Yukari goes on a tangent about how cute Reimu, Marisa, Sanae, and Reisen are. She draws particular attention to Reisen's ears, which everyone else agrees make her extra-cute.
  • "Seiga Nyan Nyan's Social Club" double dips on Brick Jokes. First, Seiga makes a ritual to summon someone to help Old Desire flourish and summons Junko. Later, Remilia, a patron at Old Desire, tells a scary story of a mansion gatekeeper who saw the door handles vanish. When the protagonist and Sanae find themselves in Sweet Dream (a rival social club led by Doremy), two patrons are Meiling complaining about vanishing door handles and Clownpiece fretting that her master's friend vanished.
  • "Princess Jo'on the Chivalrous Phantom Thief":
    • The event is another simulation, this one built by Hecatia. She wastes no time kidnapping the protagonist to get her to play-test it.
    • When Jo'on, Yachie, and Yamame first introduce themselves after changing into costumes, they attempt to make a dramatic pose... only for all three to fall over. They did nail it the second time around, though.
    • Remilia and Flandre's overly-posh speech patterns. Hecatia later reveals she added it just because it was amusing.
    • The Aki Sisters have a single line of dialogue apiece, and aren't even supposed to have real attacks. They do get polished a little more in the EX stages with more lines, though they make note of the bad luck ruining the Jo'on Phantom Thief Gang.
    • At the end of the event, Hecatia tries to pull off an It's the Journey That Counts speech, only for Jo'on, Yachie, and Yamame to demand an actual reward.
    • The event's EX stages have Yukari make modifications to the simulation, adding herself as the leader of an elite ranked team of phantom thieves, which she gets embarrassed over.
  • "Anti-Misfortune Grand Prix"
    • Yuugi and Tenshi constantly butt heads ever since the start, and poor Parsee and Shion have to deal with their teammates' rivalry. By the end of the event, Parsee gives up trying to reign Yuugi in and tells her to let loose against Team Shion.
    • Parsee plays Loves Me Not in the Garden of the Sun, and cheats by pulling the last two petals at once.
    • At the end of the first half of the event, Hatate and Marisa were unable to track Team Kokoro. In the event's second arc, it turns out her team was racing in reverse.
    • When Team Minamitsu tries to inform Team Kokoro about the race's end, the latter still insists on racing. Minamitsu later tells them that they're still looking for Marisa (who bailed her spot as organizer) so Team Kogasa, the winning team, can claim their prize. Aya concocts a news headline on the spot declaring the presence of a scandal.
  • "Capsule-Crazy Gensokyo"
    • Doremy is seen gambling away on one of Seija's gashapon machines, hoping to "hit the jackpot". She gets Miyoi, but then she says that it's her fifth one in a row, and angrily complains about it being rigged.
    • Sakuya shows off her team, which consists of all Remilias in all her costumes available at the time of the event. Kutaka calls her out on it.
    • Yukari gets needled for not really having an original team. Other than the incredibly obvious Ran and Chen, she has Suika, Keine, Yuyuko and Tenshi. Even her fellow "Big Four" member Reimu blasts her for having a boring lineup. Even her own FMs aside from Ran and Chen get in on it, with FM Tenshi having a gem of a line:
    • We later find out that Jo'on has been scalping the rare Fabricated Maidens, and reselling them at a higher price. Seija sees no problem with this since she's still profiting, and even encourages Jo'on to keep doing it.
    • The EX Stages see the Masters wanting to be reunited with their Fabricated Maidens, but Suwako and Kanako take the opportunity to throw shade at Sanae by saying that her Fabricated Maiden is more disciplined than her original.
      • Sanae declares her intent to face the protagonist in the final round of the tournament. Their match ends up being the tournament's first battle instead. She prepares to go into a long-winded rivalry speech anyway, only for Eiki to threaten her with disqualification if she doesn't get on with the match.
      • Reimu mentions that as a member of the Big Four, she can't afford to lose the tournament, only for Marisa to point out how childish such a title is. All four members of the Big Four experience Color Failure in response.
  • "Gensokyo of the Dead"
    • The event starts with Eirin hiring Remilia with help on her film. Remilia asks Eirin if she still has "that" for her payment, to which Eirin obliges to.
    • Tojiko joins the team later with a defibrillator in hand, which she repeatedly shocks Yoshika with. Yoshika's blurb in the following battle implies it paralyzed her!
  • "Dark Nurse of News"
    • Aya and Hatate attempt to steal costumes from Kourindou by shooting down a bunch of random fairies passing by as a distraction. This works.
    • Hatate accidentally lets it slip to Marisa that they stole the costumes from Kourindou. Marisa calls them shameless for it.
    • The four sneak around Hakurei Shrine to see Reimu eating expired senbei. Afterwards, it's revealed that the senbei was actually the protagonist's, and Reimu hid them from her.
    • Hatate and Aya butt heads constantly throughout the event. When Yukari's real plan was revealed, and she and her shikigami witness the two going at each other's throats, she asks Chen not to replicate what they just witnessed.
    • The EX stages reveal that Yukari blackmailed the tengu into working for her Kimodameshi as scare actors, or get "spirited away".
      • Yukari's first contender is Reimu, who promptly wants to go home. Yukari makes her go through with it by calling her chicken.
      • The second contender is Sanae, who gets scared throughout the entire thing, but quickly gets over it once she finishes.
      • The last contender is Sakuya, who appears to pull through just fine, but was absolutely traumatized after she finished that she stamped her record upside-down in a hurry, and used her time stop to flee when Sanae wanted to give her a high five.
  • "'Tis the Season For Adventure"
    • Satono and Mai visit Okina to relay a story Reimu told them about Santa Claus. Okina is very doubtful of him.
    • Okina goes to Rinnosuke about her situation. He then reveals she did so by opening a door on his back.
      • The protagonist has been listening in on their conversation, and Okina asks her to tag along for snooping.
      Protagonist: I smell trouble...!
    • Okina whisks the protagonist away to the Lunar Capital. She states the reason she went to Kourindou was to fix Reimu's clothing. She didn't get a chance to do so, and worries how angry Reimu will be.
    • Okina gets into an argument with Yukari. Thier scuttle takes so long that Ran makes everyone else tea.
    • Okina detects someone sneaking around Suzunan. Turns out it was the Three Fairies of Light, who were bored, and wanted to borrow a famous book. Iku shocks them as punishment, causing Luna Child's tounge to go numb and giving her a lisp.
    • The four try to go to Hakurei Shrine by opening a door on Reimu's back, but it won't budge. They finally force it open, revealing it was stuck because Reimu was lying on her back, and them pushing caused her to fall off her futon. After realizing this, Okina leaves, resulting in everyone else getting attacked by Reimu in retaliation.
    • The protagonist manages to wake Rei'sen up by saying that sakura mochi and kashiwa mochi are the same.
Rei'sen: Huh?! Miss (Player)?! Did I just hear you say something preposterous?!
    • It turns out that kidnapping Rei'sen was All for Nothing, as Toyohime reduced her gift to atoms because it looked horrible. This results in a Color Failure from Rei'sen.
    • The epilogue reveals that it took them up until New Year's Day to deliver all the presents. This causes Sanae to get angry at them for doing it wrong, and prepares to lecture Iku and Okina on how to properly deliver presents as Santa Claus. In response, they run away.
  • "The Maids' Chocolate Hell"
    • The event starts with Yukari inviting the protagonist over to the Palace of the Earth Spirits for a festival. The protagonist thinks to herself in relief that the event won't be like the others.
    • After seeing a rather brutal battle against Yuugi and Suika, Koakuma asks if there's any sensible Chocolate Maids. Then Kasen appears, proudly claiming she is.
Remilia: Where did you come from? Besides, anyone who says they're sensible is definitely not sensible.
Kasen: Oh, really? And what does that make you?
      Remilia: Obviously I'M sensible!
    • Yukari accidentally lets it slip that she made Satori the final boss solely because she wanted to see her get beaten up.
    • In the EX chapters, Koakuma helps Rin and Utsuho bake a cake for Satori. However, there are shortcomings:
      • The stores in the human village are out of flour. This is because they were all scalped by Mystia (who plans to try an udon recipe) and Kogasa (who's buying them for a prank).
      • Patchouli has a cookbook in her possession with a cake recipe. To obtain it, she wants to see Utsuho create artificial suns for research.
      • The time to bake has come, and everything's running smoothly... until Utsuho tries speeding up the baking process with a Mega Flare. Cue an explosion totaling the oven and an angry Sakuya.

  • "Myouren Detectives: The Phantom Sniper"
    • The thief runs off to the Human Village. Nue deduces that she's either going to Hakurei Shrine or Muenzuka. The protagonist doubts the thief is going to Hakurei Shrine, because all she'd find are rice crackers. Shou humours the idea that they might be special rice crackers, but quickly dismisses it.
    • Sanae successfully fixes Yukari's Famicom. She states you normally have to fix it by blowing into it. This was an exception.
    • In the EX stages, Yukari and Hecatia fight over who gets to keep the Famicom. To decide, they forcefully suck Nazrin, Shou, Nue, and the protagonist inside on a bet.
      • Utsuho and Rin try to stop the gang after they woke up, but Utsuho's nuclear reactor malfunctions, and blows the both of them up instead.
      • While Yukari and Hecatia were arguing, Marisa, Alice, and Patchouli decide to enter the game as well. The two gods didn't notice.

    • Mayumi goes to the Human Village to shop for "so" sweets, but gets distracted by "so" sculptures of haniwa riding horses.
    • After Miko gives away all her diago, Futo tells everyone to come to the Hall of Dreams' Great Mausoleum. Tojiko slaps her as a result of this, since it was an inappropriate time.
    • Miko giving away her diago upsets Chimata, since it drove business away from her "so". Her solution to this is to buy up all the milk so the price goes up, and no one but her can make more. This goes as well as you'd expect.
    • Utsuho, Rin, and Saki manage to bring back milk from the Animal Realm. Everyone but Saki has trouble carrying it. Just then, Saki leaves for Youkai Mountain, leaving her milk with the other two. Rin goes after her, much to Utsuho's chagrin.
  • "Disciples of the Sword"

    • The four find the Prismriver sisters and Raiko practicing in the forest. Raiko says that, since the protagonist is with them, she's either been dragged into an odd situation, or is the one causing it.
Protagonist: Wait, is that what people think of me?! Although, that does sound about right...
    • The Cool and Unusual Punishments Byakuren, Miko, and Keiki had to deal with for their constant obstructions during the meeting. Aside from restraints, they were being forced to endure a scary story after having the ending spoiled, having to peel oranges, and other punishments that never got brought up as Mayumi interrupts. The three trainees call out the pettiness of the punishments.
      • Later, Youmu interrogates Yuyuko about this, but it turns out Yuyuko is a Bad Liar. The protagonist even calls her out on it.
    • When the trio confronts Tenshi at Hakugyokurou, Tenshi starts boasting while the three refuse to react. When Tenshi notices the lack of reaction, they responded with some remarks:
Mayumi: I didn't want to feed your ego by reacting.
Ichirin: I just wanted to see how long you could go on without a response.
Futo: I'm sorry, I stopped listening halfway through.
    • It's later revealed that the meeting fiasco was a Wounded Gazelle Gambit done by Byakuren, Miko, and Keiki in order to motivate their disciples, and only Yuyuko was in on it. The restraints and other punishments were all made up. The reactions from the disciples along with Tenshi and Remilia are priceless.
  • "The Secret God Games"
    • As a Running Gag, the games are made more dangerous via Stuff Blowing Up. Lose? You blow up. Use an illegal move? Boom. Touch something you shouldn't or pick incorrectly? Have a nice flight!
    • The first round is based on basketball. The goal is to score a basket. Unfortunately for the players, there are metal spirits acting as impostor balls, and the field gets dark after time passes.

    • The insect quartet came out winners, and are treated with Megumu's special barley rice. There's so many, it's also given as a participation prize. Only one problem: Okina set them to explode as a thief countermeasure... and she forgot to undo it when it's time to hand it out. The scene then cuts to Remilia enjoying tea at her mansion when suddenly...
      Remilia: ARE YOU KIDDING MEEEE?!

  • "Club Old Desire: Consultation Crew"
    • Seiga has Satori put on a flamboyant outfit. Satori then asks what she's gotten herself into.

    • Their first task has some funny moments by itself.

    • Shinmyoumaru visits for help, who Flandre starts hugging tightly, much to her chagrin.
    • Mokou's problem is that she misses Kaguya, so Okina whisks everyone away to Eientei. Flandre manages to lure her out by telling her that Mokou fell into one of Tewi's pitfalls, which Kaguya states that she can't miss the opportunity to laugh in Mokou's face about. Then, Okina shoots her from behind... and Satori blames Mokou for it.
    • Iku comes in with an issue involving Tenshi, and wonders if she really cares about her. What makes it funny is Sanae's random aside comparing it to a Reality Show about Bad Bosses.

  • "Happy Prism Parade!"
    • When Raiko asks the protagonist for help, she asks herself when she became everyone's go-to person.
    • The band runs into Marisa at the Forest of Magic, who requests a song that goes on for a thousand years, and a calming melody played without instruments. She then immediately says that she was just kidding.
    • Because of how many people are joining the parade, people keep mistaking the band for the Night Parade of One Hundred Demons.
    • Before the concert starts, Raiko and Lunasa bicker over whether to include everyone or just have the Prismrivers and Raiko. While Yatsuhashi muses as to whether fights will make them perform better as a group, Kokoro considers adapting the argument into a future Noh play.

  • "Three Nights in Hot Spring Hell"
    • The four meet Parsee on a bridge at the Deep Road to Hell. Parsee tells Shion that she's jealous of her being the most misfortunate person, which gives her something to brag about. Shion says it's the nicest thing anyone has ever said to her, as if that was a compliment.
    • The girls were hoping to go to the hot springs, but they get constantly distracted by the other attractions in the venue. The hot springs becoming an afterthought becomes a Running Gag during the event.
    • Marisa and Remilia play Ring Toss with Ichirin, with Shion as their target. None of the rings even get near her because Shion is just unfortunate.
    • The girls go back to the food stalls to find vengeful spirits hogging the perfect hot spring. They fight them, but the only problem is Utsuho and Shion stuffing thier faces with hard boiled eggs.
    • The girls find that Remilia's glass of grape juice just never seems to run out. According to her, she got it from Kourindou, and it just magically fills. The protagonist thinks she finds the real reason: Sakuya, who has grape juice at the ready in case Remilia runs out, ready to stop time so she can refill her glass.
    • Suddenly, some crockery comes alive, and starts causing havoc. It turns out they were Rinnosuke's, who reveals they're magic, and ran away when he started testing them. While the girls manage to get all the magic items back, they decide to punish Rinnosuke by burying him alive in the sand.
    • The EX stages have Kanako buy out the resort, and make all sorts of detrimental changes.
      • Kutaka is hired as the lifeguard for the hot springs. Anyone who wants to get in the hot springs now must defeat her in a danmaku battle first for reasons she doesn't even know.
      • Rinnosuke goes on duty later. And since he doesn't partake in danmaku battles, he forces Marisa and the protagonist to go to the water slide instead. This is because Nitori is at the top opening up a shop selling cucumber soda. Marisa tries to make the water slide more fun with a Blazing Star, unknowingly knocking Nitori out. After telling Rinnosuke this, he lets them in the hot springs.
      • The residents of the Scarlet Devil Mansion find Yuugi, who volunteers to take them to the hot springs. She's on duty now, and they must beat her in a game of Phantom Flag Frenzy. Remilia changes the rules by making it a danmaku battle instead.

  • "Hakurei Shrine Academy Adventure Remilienteering"
    • The Dracuradar goes on a long spiel about how powerful it is. Sakuya uses her ability to essentially fast forward through it.
    • Okina says that the prize for collecting all five pieces of the treasure is a wish... And then immediately says she was just kidding. Youmu reveals she almost fell for that.
    • Nemuno, Eika, Eiki, Narumi, and Miyoi are the school's chefs, and unknowingly try to cook Wakasagihime.
    • Night falls, and Koishi and Rumia use the opportunity to kill the lights and surprise Sakuya and Youmu. The latter is naturally terrified by this. Later, Yoshika and Kogasa try do the same, but this time, Youmu pulls out her two swords, and starts slicing them. Then she faints.
    • Suddenly, the last chest grows legs, and runs away from everyone. Marisa tries to stop it with a Master Spark, causing Youmu and Sakuya to fight her in a danmaku battle out of fear of it being destroyed. That proves to be pointless, as Marisa Master Sparks the chest anyway... only for that to be pointless as well as the chest survives the blast, and runs away.

  • "Gensokyo Delivery Service Supportmates"
    • Kutaka goes to Nitori to have her invent something.
Nitori: Hehe, telework is a big change for Gensokyo. I can't miss my chance to make a bucket-load of cash!
Kutaka: Huh? Did you say something?
Nitori: Just that we can't miss our chance to save Gensokyo!
    • Nitori reveals she invented a machine that automatically makes desserts. But it only works with cucumbers.
    • In a shocking example of Black Comedy, Kutaka's costume for the event has her delivering fried chicken. She even cheerfully gives some to the inhabitants of Misty Lake early on in the event. How morally wrong this is is never brought up.
    • Nitori and Takane invent a small hot air balloon that houses messenger pigeons to deliver order forms. However, curious fairies attempt to pop them. To prevent this, they apply stickers that say "Hakurei Shrine" on them because everyone fears Reimu.
    • The supportmates deliver food to Cirno. However, she's gotten so lazy to the point that she doesn't want to move or talk, and has Daiyousei do everything for her. Takane gets angry, and says she wants to slap her, causing Cirno to run away.
    • The supportmates go to Reimu about the laziness problem. She says she'll take responsibility for it, but then decides to blame Yukari for it. The protagonist disappointingly says she'll apologize to Yukari on her behalf later.
    • The EX stages take place during Suika's party, which is running low on food and drinks, so more orders are placed.
      • Kutaka and the protagonist go to Former Hell to get hard-boiled eggs for Suika. The two run into Parsee, who gets jealous because they're having a friendly conversation, and she's alone. Kutaka asks her to show them to the hot springs, but she refuses because she thinks they're shady.
      • Suddenly, Nitori and Takane go missing. Fortunately, Momiji is there, who uses her ability to find them walking towards Youkai Mountain. Kutaka and the protagonist go after them, and run into a hungry Rumia. She reveals that she was too busy playing with Cirno and the other inhabitants at Misty Lake that she forgot to eat. Rumia challenges them to a danmaku battle thinking they have food on them, despite Kutaka telling her otherwise.
      • The two manage to find Nitori and Takane, who explain that they snuck away to Hell Valley's Geyser to make their own hard-boiled eggs. Unfortunately, they get caught by Kasen.
      • Nitori and Takane butt heads constantly throughout the event. Kasen admits she's surprised the supportmates have been able to stay together for this long. Kutaka apologies for it.

  • "Scrambled Youkai Network"
    • Remilia says she'll punish Nue for ruining her party by making her play with Flandre all night.
    • Until the Prankster Candy wears off, the Grassroots Youkai Network decides to swap places. As you can expect, things go wrong.
      • Wakasagihime, who swapped places with Kagerou, has trouble getting around the Bamboo Forest of the Lost because she doesn't have legs. Reisen later comes along, and uses her ability on Wakasagihime's brainwaves to discover that she's not actually Kagerou. Reisen then gives her medicine, and accidentally lets it slip that she isn't sure if it works on fins, as the medicine is for feet. So basically, Reisen is playing along with it.
      • Kagerou, who swapped places with Sekibanki, is partaking in her new job at Suzunaan. She appears to be doing fine.
      • Sekibanki, who swapped places with Wakasagihime, was found singing about her fellow Grassroots friends and how they first met. Kagerou wanted to intervene, but Wakasagihime drags her away. Meanwhile, Nitori comes in to advertise a rainmaker she invented, only for Sekibanki to fall asleep. The invention naturally goes out of hand, forcing Sekibanki to destroy it.
    • The trio find Flandre crying near an abandoned mansion at Misty Lake. She reveals she was looking for them after what happened at Remilia's Halloween party, but it started raining, and now she's too weak to fly home. Sekibanki agrees to carry her home, but she holds on to Sekibanki by her neck, causing her head to fall off.
    • The trio try to look for Yukari. The protagonist tries to summon her with a chant on the off-chance it might work. It does, but Okina appears instead, causing the protagonist to wonder if she did it wrong. Turns out the both of them have had Prankster Candies as well...
    • Okina gets angry at Yukari for tricking Mai and Satono. Yukari notes that she looks good when she's angry.
    • In the EX stages, Nue creates three clones of Remilia, and hosts a game to see if the Grassroots Youkai Network can identify the real one.
      • Sekibanki gets Patchouli to ask the Remilias what the real one's favorite blood type is. Two guess B, one guesses AB, and the other one likes all of them equally. Sekibanki says that the last one made it obvious that she isn't the real one. Unfortunately, Sekibanki runs out of time, and picks the first Remilia out of stress. She was wrong, and it was revealed to be Yukari in disguise.
      • Wakasagihime gets Meiling to make all the Remilias fly, as she's seen Remilia fly over Misty Lake plenty of times. The reason she picked Meiling is because she gazes at the sky a lot, and assumes it's because she's watching Remilia. Sakuya sees through her lie. Meiling guesses it's the Remilia dressed as a maid, due to the way she lifted her wings. She was wrong. It was actually Alice, who also knew about her flying quirk due to being a puppeteer.
      • With only two Remilias remaining, Kagerou is up, and the last person they can call for help is Sakuya. She states that Remilia didn't finish her broccoli last night, and that she accidentally broke an expensive vase, and buried it in the yard. Both Remilias go into Color Failure after hearing this. Kagerou asks them straight out if they're the real Remilia. They both say yes. Fortunately, Sakuya already knew it was the one in the dress. Kagerou doubts this, and instead goes for the one in the nurse outfit. She was also wrong. It was Flandre.
      • Turns out the entire game was rigged; the last Remilia was actually the real Nue, while the real Remilia was the one who was hosting the game the entire time. The Grassroots Youkai Network accuse the both of them of cheating.

  • "Code Name: Picara - Five Tails"
    • During the introduction of the Five Tails, a narrator gives a description of all the members. When describing Chen, the narrator puts more focus on the orb on her staff, which causes Chen to snap at the narrator for barely mentioning her.
    • When the Five Tails take the protagonist to their hideout, she accidentally calls the three by their real names, catching them off guard. Because she has intel on the treasure at Hakugyokurou, and is in cahoots with Hecatia, they let her join. However, they insist that she calls them by their codenames. Not just to keep their identities secret, but because codenames are cool.
    • The protagonist's flashback reveals that Hecatia decided to make the game more interesting by setting up a punishment and a reward. If she loses, she'll have to play with Clownpiece all day. If she wins, Hecatia will take her to a cafĂ© along with Junko. The protagonist thinks to herself that the punishment sounds like fun, but wants to win anyway.
    • The Five Tails enter a long hallway in Hakugyokurou. One door inexplicably leads to the sky, one leads to a graveyard, and another one consists of a white void. Rin enters the graveyard, and is more than happy to grave rob it.
    • The Perspective Flip portion of the event reveals that Ran, Chen, and Yukari have been programming the game inside the Kirisame Magic Shop without Marisa's consent. Naturally, Marisa storms in angrily at them. Yukari tries to justify herself by saying that they tried to find something useful in the piles of junk to help Chen learn. Marisa is unsure whether to take that as an insult or a compliment. As a sidenote, it's also revealed that the games are programmed using Family BASIC of all things.
    • The EX stages are actually a sequel to the event itself. Here, the real Chen invites Mike, Rin, and the protagonist to enter her game. Hilarity Ensues.
      • The trio find the in-game versions of Marisa, Alice, and Patchouli. Naturally, they mistake them for the Five Tails, and challenge them to a danmaku battle.
      • After escaping from the Three Witch Detectives, the cats encounter Saki near the Forest of Magic. She's surprisingly forgiving, and believes them... Only to say that she'll only arrest them if she catches them. The three cats call her crazy.
      • The chase goes on for two hours, and night falls. Nazrin and Shou finally catch up with them, and Rin decides to prove their innocence with a danmaku battle. But that proves to be pointless, as Nazrin reveals that the danmaku battle was a ruse to buy them time so the Three Witch Detectives could show up.
      • Fortunately, the real Five Tails show up and take the cats and the protagonist to thier hideout. Naturally, the Five Tails are surprised by how much they look alike. During a flashback, Shou and Alice point out what's going on, causing the in-game version of Chen to call them Captain Obvious.

  • "Dreaming in Doremyland"
    • The first attraction at Doremyland is the Palace of the Earth Spirits converted into a pastiche of The Haunted Mansion. Satori manages to surprise Sunny Milk during her introduction of it. Though, she regrets it, and comes to the conclusion that thinking like Koishi was a bad idea.
    • Sunny Milk and the protagonist believe they're being chased by someone with a sword, and hide inside a cabinet. Turns out it was just Youmu, who is uncharacteristically cutting down any ghost she sees. Sunny Milk realizes this, and assumes someone's mind controlling her. She then uses her ability on the mirrors in the room to reveal it was actually Clownpiece, who wanted to join in.
    • Sakuya and Remilia stop by the food court to get popcorn. The two options available are one with a stuffed sheep on it, and one that talks. Remilia wants them both, causing Sakuya to stop time, and has a delima over which one to pick.
    • The protagonist catches Doremy outside of her mascot costume, having what's presumably a beer. After finally noticing her, Doremy drops her drink on the floor, and quickly puts her costume back on.
Doremy: You didn't see that, did you?
    Protagonist: N-No... I saw nothing!
    • In the EX stages, Doremyland has successfully been rebuilt after the Dream Coins catastrophe, and is holding a grand re-opening. Doremy and the Three Fairies of Light invite the protagonist to participate.
      • The first attraction is a canoe ride built by Nitori. Understandably, the Three Fairies of Light are concerned about the ride's safety. Doremy tries to calm their nerves by telling them that the rocks are actually soft and sponge-like, but that doesn't convince them. The Grassroots Youkai Network are also there, and plan to use Wakasagihime to cheat. They still lose.
      • The second attraction is the Scarlet Devil Mansion. It's revealed that it was already an attraction beforehand, but all it was was a glorified art museum filled with nothing but paintings of Remilia to boost her ego. At first, the attraction appears to be a new food court, but then the table and chairs start moving on their own, carrying everyone with them. Sakuya then appears to reveal that the real attraction is a high-speed tour of the mansion in a pastiche of "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride". The ride ends in front of the mansion, where the table rams into an unfortunate Meiling, who sneaked off her post to enjoy a Dream Sandwich.
      • The last attraction is the Shining Needle Castle converted into a fun house. All goes well until Seija reveals she didn't make a proper exit, and her and Shinmyoumaru had to leave through a staff-only door. Fortunately, Star used her ability beforehand to locate the two, and followed them out.

  • "'Tis the Season For Family"
    • Sanae wants to throw a Christmas party at Moriya Shrine. The party is thrown last-minute, but Kanako and Suwako are eager to help if it makes Sanae happy. Meanwhile, Aunn and the protagonist go out to visit other shrines to wish their residents a Merry Christmas. Reimu notices that Aunn is particularly busy this time of year, but that doesn't bother her because Hakurei Shrine doesn't have anything worth protecting.
    • Aunn and the protagonist stop by the Human Village to see it bustling with people doing Christmas shopping. It turns out this was a market set up by Chimata, who is inexplicably dressed as a Mall Santa, and is having trouble keeping everyone in a single-file line.
    • Suwako wants to buy a robot figurine for Sanae, but she has trouble finding one. After nearly giving up, she conveniently hears someone selling "the world's most unique and heroic dolls". The shop is ran by Ichirin and Minamitsu. Ichirin says that the figure will punch away bad dreams... only for Doremy to appear, and say that the figure has no effect on dreams.
    • Chimata encounters a thief at her market, causing her to nearly faint. Kanako and Suwako agree to help. Okina, Sagume, and Toyohime are some of the victims, and straight out give them death threats.
    • Seiga uses her ability to cut the lines, much to Chimata's anger. As you can except, this results in a danmaku battle.

  • "Cooking in Xanadu ~With Veggies & Prayers~"
    • Marisa guesses that Eika is going to make gelatin because she figured she'd make something "soft and boneless". Eika gets offended by this, and throws rocks at her.
    • Youmu gives Eika a soda because she heard it dissolves bones, and wanted to see what effect it would have on a person who doesn't have any. Once again, Eika gets offended and hits her.
    • In the EX stages, Komachi gets a day off. Except it's not really a day off, as Eiki told her to spend it by playing with the children at Sai no Kawara.
      • Wriggle, Rumia, Mokou, Mystia, Kisume, and Yamame show up alongside the children to try the food. Yamame in particular tries to cut the line, and drags Kisume into it. Komachi punishes them with a danmaku battle, causing them both to shriek in fear. Afterwards, Narumi thinks they've learned their lesson, and lets them take as much as they want as long as they behave. Before leaving, Kisume reveals that she was afraid they were going to cook her as her punishment.
      • Kutaka shows up to pick up a delivery. Narumi says that she's a hard worker, while Eika contrasts her to Komachi, calling her "The Master of Slacking".
      • One final jab at Eika supposedly not having any bones. Yuugi and Parsee challenge the trio to a danmaku battle, with Yuugi saying that it's good they all have a backbone. Despite that being a compliment, Eika still gets offended, and is visibly fed up by everyone bringing it up.

  • "The Rebellious Mini-Fantasia"
    • Seija's costume for the event has her in a frilly pink maid outfit with rabbit ears. Most of her portraits make her look uncomfortable and embarrassed, as if she doesn't want to wear it.
    • When Shinmyoumaru tries on her maid outfit, the protagonist thinks to herself that she looks like the main character of a fairy tale. Reminder that the event itself is a fairy tale.
    • Koakuma presumably reads ahead, and finds out how Remilia is portrayed in the story, and is worried about how she'd react. Yuuka (inside the story) tells her to quit being noisy, and turn to the next chapter.
    • Letty shows up to rescue the trio from an upset Wakasagihime. Wakasagihime says that she just wants the bump on her head to go away. Letty uses her ability to ice it down, but accidentally overdoes it, and manages to freeze her solid.
    • Koakuma gets introduced in the story, much to the real Koakuma's confusion. In the story, she's written like a villain, which the real Koakuma takes offense to.
    • Yukari summons Okina and Junko to help her fight. She also tried to summon Yuyuko, only for Youmu to say that she won't be coming because she wanted to watch the cherry blossoms, much to Yukari's chagrin. After hearing this, Junko uses this as an opportunity to leave as well to join Hecatia at a cafĂ©.
    • In the EX stages, Yukari modifies the kamishibai, and creates a whole new story with her as one of the main characters.
      • Right off the bat, Yukari says she's a pure and innocent sage, but then says that she hasn't given up on mass-producing maid outfits.
      • Seija asks Yukari why she isn't wearing a maid outfit.
Yukari: Because I perfer admiring others dressed as maids... I-I mean, because I'm a sage.
      • The team find the Prismriver Sisters and the Tsukumo sisters loudly playing music, unaware of the destruction they're causing. Yukari tries to give Seija and Shinmyoumaru some motivation by also adding Choujuu Gigaku into the mix. They say no, and the band leaves disappointed.
      • The team finally encounter Hecatia, whose gotten so big that she can't fit in the screen, and has to crouch down just to have her face in shot. The narration also points this out.
      • The ending reveals that Okina snuck by while Yukari and Hecatia were fighting, and made changes to the story while they weren't looking. This causes all of them to start a big fight. Meanwhile, Koakuma decides to leave before things get worse.

  • "The Legendary Mokele-Mbembe!"
    • When the trio get stopped by Reisen at Eintei, they all give good reasons as to why they should enter. However, when Reisen asks the protagonist why she's with them, she just says that she's their boss, and likes fish. This somehow works.
    • After releasing some of the fish they caught back into the Sanzu River, Urumi gives Mike a sand dollar as an apology. Mike asks confusingly what she's supposed to do with it.
    • Remilia's flashback reveals that she struck a deal with Aya. If she helps Aya get a picture of the Mokele-Mbembe, she'll give her a free one-year subscription to Bunbunmaru Newspaper... and a year's supply of miso and soy sauce.
    • In the EX stages, the trio help out Sakuya at Eintei's renovation party.
      • Sanyo hosts a game of High Low, giving out mochi as a prize. Someone gestures the sand dollars to her, and then she adds "and these weird things that everyone's into for some reason". Everyone cheers at this, causing Tewi to question what all the fuss over them is about. Afterwards, Reisen reveals that Tewi has to pound said mochi as punishment for being a terrible lookout. Meanwhile, Yuyuko steals mochi from the Yorigami sisters on the basis that their names aren't written on it.
      • Some kappa and tanuki decide to play with the sand dollars by throwing them at eachother, much to Urumi's chagrin. Meanwhile, Momiji mistakes one of the sand dollars for a shogi piece, and is confused as to how to move it.
      • During a Cutaway Gag, Komachi finds a sand dollar at the Sanzu River. She throws it at the ground, but unfortunately, it was actually one of Urumi's grenades, and it explodes in front of her.
