  • Jöns' first appearance: Block steps on him and Jöns grimaces at him.
  • Right after asking his way to a long dead man, Jöns returns to his sire, the conversation that followed:
Block: Did he indicate the way?
    Jöns: Not exactly.
    Block: What did he say?
    Jöns: Nothing.
    Block: Was he dumb?
Jöns: No, one can't say that. I'd say that he was most eloquent. Yes, most eloquent. But the speech he made was dour, I have to say.
  • The scene in the church where Jöns shows the Artist a drawing of him while mocking faith in a higher world. Block then confiscates the drawing (in a way a parent would), with Jöns acting as an ashamed teenager and sticking his tongue out to his master.
  • The argument between the Smith and Skat. Jöns actually provides the Smith with insults and cheers him on.
    Plog: Watch out, you perfumed...
    Jöns: ...powder-puff...
Plog: ...powder-puff, that I don't let off a fart that will assign you to the jugglers' inferno in a flash, where you can sit together and... uh...
    Jöns: ...read soliloquies...
Plog: ...read soliloquies to each other until dust forms in the Devil's ears!
    Jöns: Bravo!
    • The following conversation with Jof:
Jof: What are you laughing at? This is serious.
Jöns: In southern lands there is a man-like animal called an ape.
      Jof: What of it?
      Jöns: Oh, nothing.
  • Death killing Skat by cutting his tree. The attempt of the guy to bargain with Death.
