This was not exactly a funny programme, but nonetheless, every so often there were some proper laugh-out-loud moments...
- "Operation Kingmaker", where Neil has his Sandbaggers try to fix the appointment of the new C from the competent-but-vindictive John Tower Gibbs to the inept Deputy Chief. It's basically a Caper Episode set inside their own bureaucracy.
- "Unusual Approach" has a B-plot with Neil trying to quit smoking while stuck in Greece with an exasperated Wellingham, and Peel, who turns out to have a rather large amount of enthusiasm for Greek history that he loves to share. (In total contrast, the A-plot is about Sandbagger 2 getting sent on a possible suicide mission into Russia.)
