• If you're into Black Comedy, the Author's Notes at the end of each chapter is for you: Twilight and Dimmed Star repeatedly torture, kill, resurrect, and otherwise abuse Shaded for petty things in the most hilariously gory way possible.
• During her trial, Dimmed Star becomes so bored from listening to Hasty Vote that she falls asleep. While standing heavily chained on a wooden trolley.
  • This is an in-universe example for three characters. Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie can't help letting out guffaws of laughter at this unexpected turn. When Hasty Vote's undignified "excuse me" is responded only with a light snore, Rainbow and Pinkie chuckle more at the obnoxious councillor's expense. When Hasty Vote glares at them, Rainbow starts whistling a small tune, while Pinkie scratches her ear's inside from an impossible angle.
    • Princess Celestia has to fight to hold back a light snicker. She acknowledges that if the situation were less severe, she might indulge in the humorous turn.
• When Spike and Scootaloo compete to see who makes more origamis, they create a large mound of paper cranes until they run out of paper. Then it turns out that neither them nor the other two Crusaders kept count of how many origamis each made.
• Dimmed Star's attempt to cook a vegetable stew goes horribly wrong.
  Dimmed Star: I can recite the names and properties of every element known to pony kind on the periodic table, but for the life of me I can't cook a simple vegetable stew!
• When Spike eats salad without touching an asparagus in it, he asks Dimmed Star to let him help her with her studies at least a tiny bit. She answers deviously that he must eat his asparagus first, much to his discomfort.
• When Twist insists that they aren't supposed to be talking in class, Apple Bloom points out that Twist herself is talking.
