Funny / The Mothman Prophecies

• One of the few funny lines, after John and Mary have had sex in the closet of the house they just bought.
  Mary: You know what I was thinking?
  John: That we should get a mattress for that closet.
• One of the film's scariest scenes contains some dark comedy, namely the scene where Klein is speaking over the phone to Indrid Cold, aka. the Mothman who is reading his thoughts. When Klein demands that the Mothman prove himself by telling him what's in his hand, Cold accurately answers "Chapstick". Hearing this utterly terrifying voice name something so utterly banal is funny whether intentional or otherwise.
  • Indrid Cold demonstrates that even Eldritch Abominations can have a sense of humour, mimicking Klein's American accent ("You're scared now, arnt'cha") and remarking "Convinced yet?"
