Funny / The Magic School Bus Rides Again

Go To

  • As usual, Carlos' bad puns get the reaction that all old fans expect. And it is rather funny.
  • In the first episode, Professor Frizzle, when Arnold calls her, she asks if his question is "Should I have stayed at home today?", referencing his infamous catchphrase. The fact that it is the original Ms. Frizzle who got that brick joke in is even funnier.
  • Fiona Frizzle may not be her sister, but she is a rather funny individual. Fits given her VA's roles in the past, she enhances it with making her voice give a lot of inflection.
  • When Fiona uses her magic remote to change Carlos and Wanda into a tortoise and finch, they start to leave...when she decides to play around with it some and make them keep changing into various other animals, with Jyoti wanting to be next.
    • and like her sister before her, she mentions rather...odd relatives when pointing out they got something correct.
Fiona: (chuckles to herself) Oh, I love this thing.
  • Arnold is rather...unhappy with being shrunk to the size of a dust mite.
Jyoti: (After seeing how small they are) Magical! Majorly, Majorly Magical!
Arnold: (sarcastically) Sure, till we get eaten or baked into a pie.
  • In episode 2, Janet is her usual Smug Snake self, though her acting this hoity toity nowadays is rather funny given that she seems more subdued then before. Especially as she is wanting 'realism'...in a play about talking pigs trying to outsmart a wolf.
  • While it goes into Fridge Logic territory, Wanda's mom having some issues believing in the stuff the kids go through is rather funny in hindsight. After all, who'd believe that on a normal basis?
  • In "The Magnetic Mambo", due to Ralphie having some...fun with his whistle, it's actually kinda funny when Fiona casually tosses the whistle out of the window so they could go inside of it. It could initially be interpreted as her just saying 'Throwing this out' before they shrink into it.
    • also the kids wanting to ALL do Dance acts...with very different dance moves that, given the animation, is kinda goofy looking. (Though Fiona's dance is actually a lot more fluid)
  • The fact that it took over 16 minutes for the kids to figure out that Carlos had allergies in "Carlos gets the sneezes" is funny in a way since it would have been obvious if Arnold mentioned it sooner.
  • The sheer insanity of the Hide and Seek game in episode 7. Especially since it has the usually reserved D.A. in a pretty competitive move. (Admittedly in this series, D.A. is a lot more like a kid than her classic counterpart, but still.)
    • Plus there's Jyoti's camouflage cloak. HOW and why she's still in elementary school is beyond most.
      • And the hide and seek player STILL FOUND HER. Just from checking the balls and realizing one of them had a nose. She then has to wash her hands because she's just stuck her fingers up another student's nose.
  • When Jyoti's locket is near a Goblin Shark, the kids are rather...not excited to get near a giant shark. but Fiona isn't worried.
Fiona: Oh come on, have us Frizzles ever gotten you eaten yet?
    Everyone: Yes!
Fiona: (embarrassed) Okay, okay, okay. But you didn't stay eaten, right?
  • "I'm so talk I can't even tired right."
  • When they are looking for Carlos' rat in the episode "I Spy with my Animal Eye", the bus is almost eaten by an owl. When they are able to go into its eye, the owl looks around where it's prey once was. It then pauses with an 'Uh...what just happened?' expression its face.
  • In "Raphie and The Flying Tennellis", it's revealed that Fiona's circus name was 'Fearless Fiona' she then embarrassingly reveals that before that it was 'Flatulent Fiona'. She also used to be a lion tamer which, as she puts it, well prepared her to be an elementary school teacher.
  • In "In The Zone" when Keesha and Carlos are reverted back to normal, she realizes she's cuddling him and quickly lets go, looking quite embarassed.
