  • Amanda trying to walk in the snowy English countryside with spiked heels.
    • When she slips and grabs a tree branch to stop herself falling, she ends up dumping snow on her head.
    • Likewise her attempts driving in England as an American.
  • Iris three-way calling Graham and Amanda, saying the wrong things to the wrong person. At the end Iris' phone rings again and she answers brusquely - to a taken aback Miles who asks if he is in trouble.
  • Amanda desperately trying, and failing, to cry.
  • Graham shows up to Iris' cottage drunk and unaware that Amanda is staying there. After nearly relieving himself on the doorstep he has to sit in case his imbalance causes him to bump into Amanda.
  • Iris reduced to a giddy little girl when she arrives at Amanda's capacious abode. This is contrast with Amanda's struggle with Iris' rustic, rather more snug, cottage.
  • When Miles discovers he is being cheated on, Iris takes him to Amanda's and offers him a large drink. When she shares her own experience of three years of heartbreak Miles gives the drink back, saying she needs it more.
  • Poor Amanda, used to her huge house, banging her head on the lintel above the stairs in Iris's cottage.
  • After saying she wants to read all the books she bought from the bestseller lists, we see them piled up next to her on her flight to the UK. But instead of reading them, she puts on an eye mask and tries to sleep.
  • Miles embarrassing poor Iris in the rental shop with his vocal renditions of classic soundtracks.
  • Amanda's reactions to hearing a narrator's voice in her head, especially the third time it happens, when she tells the voice to shut up.
  • Iris's giggle when she discovers the motorized blinds in Amanda's bedroom.
  • When Iris finally works up the nerve to tell Jasper that she's over him, she is about to say so, but stops herself so she can turn on the lights first.
  • Graham doing "Mr. Napkin Head", which he normally only does with his daughters, in front of Amanda.
