Funny / The Captain

• Herold juggling apples, singing and bowing to an imaginary audience. Even funnier after he gets surprised by Freytag.
• When the starving Herold and Freytag reach the inn, they are both served some traditional German food. Freytag desperately wolfs down his portion while Herold, equally starved but aware that all the eyes are on him, makes a very obvious effort to eat slowly.
• Herold comes out of the tailor atelier (where he was having his stolen uniform adjusted) and makes a rousing speech to his troops. At the end of it, it's shown that he wasn't wearing any pants. He did this on purpose, as he wanted to avoid anybody noticing that his uniform doesn't fit properly.
• When he realizes that he is about to be arrested by the German authorities, Herold jumps out of bed and begins hastily chewing his soldier ID. The real Herold did tear his ID into pieces and secretly ate it during his confinement. Apparently, it tasted like white bread without butter.
• Freshly arrived in a new town, Herold orders the execution of a man who had hanged a welcome banner for the Allies and holds a grandiose speech about how he is the avenger of the German honor and how he will restore law and order to that place. In the background, his soldiers are seen casually carrying valuables they have looted.
