• Truman's response to the prison warden telling him that Perry was lucky he marked him down as a white man due to his half-Indian nature.
  Truman: You're a kind and generous man.
• Early on, when Truman and Harper Lee are on the train, the train conductor praises his writing. When he leaves, Harper astutely points out, "You paid him to say that." Truman starts to deny it, but starts laughing instead, and asks, "How did you know?"
