Season 1

    "Lost and Found"
  • Dal's first escape attempt is not well-thought-out, as Gwyn notes. He tried to ramp what was essentially a dump truck into space, with no clear suggestion of what the next step of his plan was going to be.
  • Gwyn is an Omniglot but not a perfect one. She accuses Dal of being in "cat boots" (cahoots) with Zero.
  • Dal is sent to work in one of the deep crevasses. The elevator ride includes an instructional safety video using cartoonish illustrations to highlight the many dangers (illustrated with big red Xs) and some of the ways to avoid them (to include the "buddy system" ankle tethers). The video is hilarious as only a safety briefing can be, especially given how cheerful it seems to be in comparison to everything else at Tars Lamora.
    • Later on, when Dal is in imminent danger of being crushed by a cave-in, he screams "X! X!"
  • When Dal and Rok-Tahk take Jankom Pog to the U.S.S. Protostar. Jankom is amazed... at Zero's robot suit. The Cool Starship is of little interest to him.
  • There's something deeply humorous in that a Starfleet vessel console has a Media Player, Log Editor, and Calculator built right in.
  • Murf manages to get the phasers working. By sitting on the console.
  • Zero is not as competent as their first impression suggests. They point out that they're doing pretty well for a being that had to build their own hands. One of which Murf manages to steal without Zero noticing.
Zero: "Faster?" I'm flattered you think I know what I'm doing.
  • Gwyn asks the others if they realize what they're doing. Jankom laughs and says they're making a series of bad decisions and they're well aware.

    "Starstruck"
  • This little reminder of Tellarite customs:
Jankom: Ugh, she's hideous. Why is her forehead so smooth? Ugh.
Janeway: You're no summer peach either, Tellarite.
Jankom: Ha! Jankom Pog likes her!
    • Also funny for being a reversal of Rubber-Forehead Aliens, as Janeway is, so far, the only depiction of a human we've seen on the show. Compare to the jokes on Star Trek: Picard about how humans look like Romulans with rounded ears.
  • Jankom and Rok discover the mess hall and Janeway introduces them to the food replicators. Jankom sheepishly admits that he’s short of credits, but once Janeway tells him it’s free, he orders a massive plate of Tellarite food.
  • Holo-Janeway taking a swig of holo-coffee in the middle of a crisis. Whoever designed the program did their homework. She even has Janeway's favorite mug.

    "Dreamcatcher"
  • Dal's first attempt at a Captain's Log:
    Dal: Captain's Log, Stardate... I don't know.
  • During training, Jankom dozes off and accidentally hits the button that fires torpedos, earning a Death Glare from Janeway.
    • Later, as the crew inspects their tools, Jankom shoots himself with a phaser. Janeway quips to the crew that they should make sure they are pointed the right way, also clarifying that they are set to stun on default.
    • Once they get their new tricorders, the first thing Zero detects with it is a gaseous anomaly... from Jankom.
  • The plant creature lures in the crew with illusions of their greatest desires. Jankom’s greatest desire? Food. Specifically a great big pot of stew he proceeds to scoop out with his helmet.
    • When the others come to rescue him, they find him on the ground, covered in vines, eating sand.
Jankom: [through a mouthful of sand] What?

    "Terror Firma"
  • The crew debate what to call the planet. Jankom suggests "Murder Planet," while Rok suggests "Larry." Dal meanwhile suggests "Lets-not-visit-M-Class-planets-again."
  • Hologram Janeway, realizing the ship is under attack, wonders what the real Janeway would do, then launches cleaning bots to start removing the vines.
  • Dal helps Gwyn with her English. A "constellation" is a formation of stars. "Constipation" is what Jankom's cooking is going to give everyone.
  • While the crew is running back onto the Protostar:
    Dal: Go, go, go!
Zero: I am already proceeding in a rapid forward motion. I cannot do it in triplicate!
  • While the Diviner leaving Gwyn in order to reach the Protostar is sad, the fact this is an illusion and he is quickly swarmed by the vines is quite funny in a karmic fashion.
  • The crew discovers the mystery device in the ship is a containment unit for a protostar, or as they describe it, a "baby star." Rok reacts giddily to the idea of a baby star.

    "Kobayashi"
  • Janeway introducing the holodeck to Dal and Jankom. Programs include skydiving (cue the boys plummeting from the sky), gladiatorial combat (cue the "Amok Time" fight music as the boys run from an unseen creature with glowing red eyes), fighting Dracula (cue an ominous gothic castle), and finally, Jane Eyre (Cue an English fop going on about a five hour poetry session). The boys are not exactly enthralled by any of these.
  • The computer auto-populates the simulation with well-regarded Starfleet personnel if no specific crew is chosen. Their dialogue in universe is made up entirely of pre-recorded audioclips played based on what's relevant to the situation, Of varying quality based on how long ago they were recorded.note
  • The Failure Montage of Dal trying to beat the Kobayashi Maru.
    • At one point Dal, Jankom, and the simulations of such decorated Starfleet officers as Spock, Uhura, Odo, and Beverly Crusher are huddled behind a console to hide from the Kingons!
Simulated Spock: I believe he has lost the capacity for rational decision.
    • One of his failures has him shouting “FIRE EVERYTHING!” in his best Nero impression.
  • Dal actually comes within a hair’s breadth of successfully completing the simulation… and then blows it by hitting the wrong button by mistake.
  • Following a Rousing Speech, Spock bids Dal farewell with his iconic catch phrase and Vulcan salute. Dal responds by high-fiving his saluting hand.

    "First Con-Tact"
  • How are the kids coping with the shocking revelations of the previous episode? By teleporting a slice of pie around the ship.
  • Nandi first appears faking a distress call, with holographic fire, a fake baby, and claims of sick orphans. Once she recognizes Dal, she drops the act, turns off the hologram, and takes a bite out of the fruit she was using for the baby.
  • When Dal introduced Nandi (the woman who raised him), Jankom Pog mutters that he doesn’t see a resemblance.

    "Time Amok"
  • The episode opens with the crew attempting to solve the classic Fox-Chicken-Grain Puzzle in the holodeck. It goes disastrously wrong. The Fox goes after the chicken, the chicken goes after Dal, the boat goes adrift with Murf in it, and Jankom eats the grain.
  • One of the times Janeway shifts to a different time phase she tells the one there that the fate of the ship rests with them only to find she's just told that to Murf. She promptly Facepalms.
  • Janeway finds Dal playing a video game, oblivious to the situation and refusing to believe her until she remotely shuts the game off.

    "A Moral Star, Part 2"
  • Dal gets close enough to two miners to warn them to get inside. When they get within range of his badge, their speech starts getting translated for each other. The first thing they do? Say their names. The second thing they do? Confess their love for each other. Dal asks them to find a better time for this discussion because they are still in mortal peril until they get inside.
  • Zero gets the arm of their suit shot off. This is Played for Laughs, Zero even snarking about how hard it was to control.
  • Somewhat meta, but the fact that Admiral Janeway is commanding a new version of U.S.S. Dauntless is darkly hilarious to anyone who knows the story behind the original. It's like something Parody Janeway would do to spite her enemies. Poor Arturis is probably spinning in his regeneration alcove.

    "Let Sleeping Borg Lie"
  • Janeway being forced by Dr. Noum to switch over to tea from her beloved coffee. She snarks to Asencia that she wants a second opinion from another Doctor.
    • Kate Mulgrew's pained and resigned delivery as Janeway replicates the tea is what really sells the joke.

    "Preludes"
  • The Vindicator wants to know what could have made the Diviner's daughter turn on their mission.
    Diviner: She met a boy.

    "Ghost in the Machine"
  • The crew wanders into a holodeck simulation of a jazz club. They all wonder whose simulation it is until the announcer recognizes "Mr. Murfy No Shoes." Murf happily jumps on stage and enthusiastically performs an old jazz song, although the rest of the crew is not sure if Murf is singing or "convincingly" lip-syncing.

    "Mindwalk"
  • Dal and Admiral Janeway do a "Freaky Friday" Flip; Hilarity Ensues. Listening to Kate Mulgrew play a panicking teenage boy trying to bullshit his way around a Starfleet ship is worth the price of admission alone.
  • There's also the various "WTF?" reactions of Janeway's crew, clearly wondering why their CO has gone completely batty. Dr. Noum even rescinds his "no caffeine" order and shoves a mug of coffee into "Janeway's" hands, desperate to restore her to normal.
    • When "she" spits it out and reacts with disgust, that's the final straw for them and they are convinced she has lost her mind completely.
