While Tools Of Destruction may be more of a story- and drama-driven game than the entries seen before it... it's (again) still a Ratchet & Clank game.
As a Moments subpage, all spoilers are unmarked as per policy. You Have Been Warned.
- When the ship Ratchet and Clank stole from Tachyon flies away into space:Computer: Engaging cryosleep.
Ratchet: Cryosleep? Nah, nah, there's no way I'm gonna—*snore*
Clank: It is fortunate cryosleep does not work on robots. (chuckles)
(A cartoon boxing glove springs out of the console and socks Clank in response to the above) - After obtaining the Robo-Wings:Ratchet: Clank, have you been upgrading yourself in secret?
Clank: Absolutely not. And I do not care much for your tone. - The computer for the escape pod Ratchet and Clank take to Fastoon: "Touchdown in 5... 4..." (lands) "Oops! 3-2-1!"
- Ratchet's "Mustachio Furioso" disguise for the arena on Mukow (See main page) comprised of a pair of goofy glasses and a mustache. It works well enough for the Drophyds not to notice.
- Despite (or because of) the awkward subject matter, this exchange:Clank: What are "stones"? (checks chest compartment) Do I have them?
Ratchet: I'll tell you later... and no. - Another gem can be found on Rykan V after viewing the informational reel for the Lombax Center for Advanced Research. To wit:Ratchet: The weapon used to vaporize the cragmites was... a hat. Oh come on, no lombax would ever invent something that ridiculous!
Clank: Oh really? What about your Nuclear Powered Rocket Sled? Your Antimatter Bathroom Buddy? And let us not forget about the electro-shock undergarments you invented last fall.
Ratchet: Stunderwear! Huge seller on Umbris.- This only becomes better when you realize that, when we were given the opportunity to explore Umbris in the original Ratchet & Clank, the only sentient lifeform present was Captain Qwark.
- Just before this, we have the Lombaxes' information video on the Dimensionator. Beyond a bunch of rampant Techno Babble, we have this gem near the end:Narrator: (very calmly) In the unlikely event that the Dimensionator creates a time-space singularity and tears the fabric of the universe asunder, please log an "A" bug and notify a programmer immediately.
- The Plumber's usual appearance— from "Almost didn't recognize you in high-def" all the way to his— ahem— exit. That scene was absolutely hysterical...Ratchet probably summed it up the best, really: "What just happened?"
- Towards the end of the game, just before the Wham Episode, we get this gem during the halo jump onto Reepor.Cronk: This reminds me of the time we did a HALO jump with a Lombax and his metal buddy into the Cragmite homeworld. Ah, Zeph, when was that?
Zephyr: Ah, for crying out loud, it's happening right now, you darn fool! - A scene that can be easily missed because of the dramatic circumstances it occurs in: When Tachyon activates the Dimensionator, it unfolds into a contraption several times larger than him. As it's strapped to his head, Tachyon is now severely top-heavy, and visibly struggles to stay upright while delivering his dramatic monologue.
- Said contraption also has a punching glove and a Lombax teddy bear coming out of it.
- What happens just before is also hilarious: Tachyon tries to activate the Dimensionator, but it turns out that old Lombax technology can be a bit tacky sometimes:Tachyon: (dramatically) I have waited years for this moment. Finally, the time has come for the Cragmites to rise again! (pulls the Dimensionator's startup cord)
(nothing happens)
Tachyon: Ahem. (dramatically, while pulling the cord again) ...To rise again!
(again, nothing happens, brief cuts to the faces of an impatient Ratchet, a confused Qwark and finally Tachyon with a deadpan expression)
Tachyon: (clearly irritated, pulls the cord one more time) ...TO RISE AGAIN! (the Dimensionator works)
