This may be one of Adam Sandler's more serious roles, but that's not to say this movie is without its share of laughs.
- "At that restaurant, I beat up the bathroom. I'm sorry."
- Barry's attempts to lie to the restaurant manager about wrecking the bathroom. Despite literally being caught red handed:Manager: Sir, your hand is bleeding.
Barry: I cut myself.
Manager: How?
Barry: On my knife. (doesn't have a knife)
Manager: ...
Barry: (nervous) What? - Barry's phone conversation with Dean the Mattress Man:Dean: Are you threatening me, dick?
Barry: You go FUCK yourself!
Dean: Oi! You— FUCK! Did you just say "go fuck myself"?
Barry: ...Yes, I did.
Dean: That wasn't good! You're dead! - Once Barry arrives at Dean's office while the latter is having his hair done, the two of them stare at each other in awkward silence for roughly half a minute until Dean finally breaks the silence with a simple "fuck you."
- After all his Smug Snake bullying attitude, Dean the Mattress Man basically folds like a paper tissue after he tries to push Barry just a little too far. Also counts as Moment of AwesomeDean: Now get the FUCK outta here, pervert!
Barry: DIDN'T I WARN YOU?!?!
Dean: Th-That's that! [quickly walks away] - A deleted scene has Dean the Mattress Man filming a Kitschy Local Commercial: the ad starts out with him delivering his sales pitch while walking on top of a stationary truck trailer and awkwardly pretending to strum a guitar, then he jumps off the trailer onto a pile of mattresses sitting on top of a car - predictably he lands on the mattresses, then bounces off and lands on the pavement, shaking it off as the camera crew come out from off-screen to see if he's okay. This was a replication of a real Kitschy Local Commercial outtake, and Philip Seymour Hoffman actually did the stunt himself.
