The Wish

  • For literally half the episode, Zinnia monologues her history lesson while May struggles to keep up with her. At one point, May is sent falling an unclear distance down the tower... and Zinnia just keeps going. And somehow, May is unharmed.

The Show

  • Several Funny Background Events occur at both the festival and the titular show:
    • A Kadabra uses its psychic powers to serve ice cream to a girl at the festival. Her Chikorita jumps for joy in response.
    • Unlike the other protagonists, who get to spend their screentime being super badass, Ethan just casually walks through the festival without even getting to show his face.
    • Doubling as adorable, a Cyndaquil can be seen in the audience, booping its trainer's nose with its snout.
    • Jolteon's lightning effects cause the recurring Pikachu pair's ears and cheeks to spark.
    • An audience member's Totodile doesn't realize that Flareon's fire is merely a special effect and tries to douse it, prompting its trainer to block its mouth, getting splashed himself in the process.
    • Morty's Gengar goes into full Ocular Gushers mode when the show concludes and Morty wordlessly hands him a tissue.
  • A few fans had a laugh over the fact that the Kimono Girls completely gloss over the fact that three Pokemon died in the fire at the Brass Tower and had to be resurrected by Ho-Oh.

The Discovery

  • Before Green can cross Nugget Bridge, she has to beat all of the trainers on it. After Green sends out Kangaskhan and Gengar, it cuts to a man at the end of the bridge holding a Nugget, who watches the ensuing battle. The man is terrified by what he sees, nervously sliding to the side before running away. It then zooms out to show all the trainers and their Pokémon collapsed on each other in a steaming pile as Green runs past them. A Camper drags himself out the pile to do an Angry Fist-Shake at Green.
  • Anyone who's ever had to deal with swarms of Zubat will likely get a chuckle seeing they're just as troublesome for the characters here as they are in the games.
  • After Trace and Green each declare they're going to catch the mystery Pokémon first, we get a Split Screen of the two of them looking like they're about to battle, before Trace decides to run away instead.
  • When Green senses something, she throws a Poké Ball at it, only for it to hit Elaine's head instead. Green's reaction makes it clear this was an accident.
  • Elaine and her Pikachu have a blissful look on their faces as Elaine gleefully says "Mewtwo!"
  • Green is indignant upon discovering Elaine caught Mewtwo first, rapidly switching between different poses before suddenly sending her Pokémon out to battle Elaine.
  • Green's Clefable covers its face in fear when it's about to be hit by Elaine's Pikachu.
  • When Green suggests that Elaine and Mewtwo become her Pokémon, even Mewtwo is surprised.
