Then right after they finish filming, we get this exchange:
Mayday: How could you forget your lines, Zuke? It's bunka, then junka, then BAM in your faces! Zuke: I can't help it. As soon as the cameras started rolling I was just...wow the lights were just so intense, man.
Mayday: Oh yeah? Well how about you, take all those X-es, and shove em up your-
Zuke tries to defend NSR when Mayday is enraged in the prologue from Tatiana banning rock from future auditions saying they're doing a good job governing the city. Cue blackout followed by an immediate advertisement on a blimp for NSR.
Mayday: Zuke... Zuke: ...Yes? Mayday: If I could see your face, I'd punch it.
DJ Subatomic Supernova is generally only seen from the torso upward. The times his legs are seen show why; he's only wearing a pair of briefs and shoes and has hairy legs.
Before the fight, DJ Subatomic Supernova compares the band and rock to the dwarf planet Pluto. Then comes this exchange:
Mayday: What? Pluto? Zuke, what he said about us was bad, right? Zuke: Well, being a dwarf planet isn't necessarily a bad-
The news report afterwards shows a broadcast of the NSR satellite in orbit...followed by DJ Subatomic Supernova floating by right as the anchor mentions the project being supervised by said DJ.
A frustrated Mayday ends up punching the TV seeing Tatiana, much to Zuke's dismay.
Zuke: Great, you owe me a TV, May. Mayday: Those NSR buffoons! We managed to defeat an artist of theirs but somehow, they still win! Zuke: Did you have to punch the TV though? We ain't got money to spend on another one.
The collectables you get for beating the DJ includes a recording of him giving a speech. We get this gem after he bluntly refers to his audience as inconsequential, implying the recording was from a speech that was far longer.
Audience Member 1: (yawns) Audience Member 2: Is he done yet?
The kicker comes after he finishes said speech:
DJ Subatomic Supernova: Thank you, all...3 of you...for showing interest in the never ending pursuit of knowledge. Your curiosity is appreciated. Oh and thank you too, guy who stands by the door. Janitor: I'm just the janitor, man. DJ Subatomic Supernova: Well, even so. I shall...see you later. Janitor: Whatever.
Sayu's fight reveals that she's the creation of a group of four college nerds, who start the fight fairly confident in their chances, but eventually the editor almost gets into a fistfight with the artist due to how badly the battle is going for them.
When Mayday accuses her of not being real, Sayu counters by saying she's as real as the love between her and Zuke. Both are rather startled by the claim. Then comes this conversation, which makes it appear Sayu got Zuke to briefly consider her claim's validity.
Sayu: I can see it in your eyes! Your hearts are pounding like the beating drums of the ocean! Ba-bump! Ba-bump! Zuke: Ba-bump? Sayu: It means follow your heart, Zuke! Zuke: I...bu, uh, there are many factors to consider so I- Mayday: Hey, hey, we're here to fight, alright?! Zuke, snap out of it, and you! You're still not real! Less talk, more rock!
Mayday getting Cuteness Proximity for Sayu's appearance, despite the fact they're supposed to be enemies. She admits wanting to pinch her cheeks and even imitates her at one point.
The four decide, with the prompting of the artist, to make one last attempt to defeat Bunk Bed Junction by turning Sayu into a reverse mermaid. Mayday is promptly horrified that the "cute mermaid idol" turned into that. She's so horrified about it that when Mayday tells the four that they're talented after unplugging their computers, she asks them to never make Sayu look like that again.
The reverse mermaid form is altered in the Christmas Edition to be some sort of bell abomination.
The way Sayu transforms into her reverse mermaid form is funny too. After her creative team (prompted by the artist) strikes a Super Sentai-esque group pose, Sayu attempts to stab her trident (which has prongs that look like a USB logo) into a rock in front of her to transform... except it doesn't work. She turns the trident around to try a second time, but that doesn't work either. She then turns it back around to how she had it before to try a third time, and that time she succeeds.
The news report following Bunk Bed Junction beating Sayu shows an image of the site afterward that resembles a murder scene, complete with an outline on the ground meant to represent Sayu and evidence markers. It's particularly ridiculous considering that Sayu doesn't physically exist.
The anchor claims that the interview with the band came while they were cowardly fleeing from the scene. The footage actually shows they were casually standing around on the street with Zuke eating the shellfish snack and Mayday fiddling on her phone when the reporter approaches them. The interview is derailed when Mayday ends up going gaga over being on TV to begin with (her pupils even becoming normal for a second) while Zuke hurriedly cleans up the crumbs on his face.
(The trailer opens with Yinu playing the piano in a forest) Narrator: One of the greatest prodigies of our time. Yinu:(singing)Why am I in a forest? Narrator: Winner of 6 consecutive international BAKAT awards. Yinu: I'm gonna put this next to Alice and Puddles and General Stragovich! (the music suddenly stops) Narrator: ...General Stragovich? Okay. (the music resumes) Now performing as an NSR artist... Yinu: Smiiile! Narrator: Yinu! Live at Natura Concert Hallnote or, in the original version of the spot, Paris Games Week! Mayday and Zuke heckle Yinu's performance, to which Yinu tries to admonish the two for ruining performances. The two apparently can't hear Yinu due to the acoustics, with Mayday holding up a comically large prop ear.
At the start of the third phase, Yinu's mother tries to threaten Bunk Bed Junction:
(Beat) Zuke: May? Mayday:(with a goofy lovestruck grin) Whaaaat?~ Your just jelly that all these pretty boys are fawning over me! Zuke:(annoyed) May... Mayday: Did you hear what they said about my lips though? (giggles happily) (Beat) Zuke:What have you done to her, Ten Ten?! 1010: Hah... Haters gonna hate.
Then when 1010's faces are torn off by the explosion of Neon J.'s machine...
1010: (In a nightmarishly deep robot voice) Baby, I'm electrifying. (The others follow suit, in an equally nightmarish high-pitch shirek) ELEC-TRI-FY-IIIIIIING!
Mayday: Oh no! He's no longer handsome and sexy and gentlemanly and- Zuke: Good.
Throughout the fight, 1010's barriers are powered by the cheers of the band's fans. After their faces are torn off, when they pose for the fans, they're met with screams of terror that cause the robots to explode.
Fridge Brilliance: 1010 didn't explode because their fans stopped loving them. Other way around: they blew up because all those screams were converted into cheers and gave them too much power.
For once, Mayday is reluctant to use the Showstopper on 1010 and it shows throughout the sequence, culminating into her apologizing to the band as it's about to hit. To cap off the running joke, the revised album art signalling 1010's defeat features Mayday bawling her eyes out while Zuke casually ploughs them over in a moped.
Neon J. after his defeat starts to ramble like a Shell-Shocked Veteran, continuing even after a confused Mayday and Zuke decide to just leave him alone.
1010’s outfits in the Christmas Edition have them dressed up as toy soldiers, but their normal heads are replaced with perpetually grinning reindeer heads that have their hairstyles stuck on top.
The blue 1010 robot is still wearing his sunglasses overtop of his reindeer head.
Neon J’s holiday attire is equally questionable. He, like his troops, has a toy soldier/nutcracker motif, but he also has reindeer ears, antlers, and a fake beard attached to his head. His radar screen head.
After beating 1010, a cooking show with a woman has her do the Salt Bae meme. Then the already broken TV is destroyed again by Mayday. This time? It's because she couldn't find anything about NSR and she thought that the chef had it coming. Zuke is unimpressed by this.
In an otherwise somber pre-battle conversation, there's Eve getting visibly frustrated at Mayday for missing the meaning behind the chair and the statue of Tatiana.
Eve: Girl, do you not see Tatiana holding the back rest to her bosoms? Hello? Do you not get what it is meant to represent? Mayday: Uh...no? Eve: Uuuuugh!
It becomes less funny when you see an old video showing Eve reacting to Zuke's sudden departure. That incident is apparently why Zuke ran away in the first place.
Before Tatiana's boss fight, she and Mayday argue about Bunk Bed Junction's rebellion against NSR. Eventually, Tatiana gets so fed up she just immediately begins the fight, with the Boss Subtitles quickly flashing across the screen while Mayday's character art is still there.
Tatiana: Can you really run the city under those circumstances? Mayday: (Unsure) Well ... I'm sure we'll figure something out after- Tatiana: Forget it! This is going nowhere! I'm just gonna finish you off right now! Bunk Bed Junction vs TATIANA Mayday: Whoah wait, what?!
Tatiana: I can't believe you guys are this obtuse. Why do you think I have Kul Fyra's guitar? Mayday: ...Cuz you're her mom? Tatiana: No. Mayday: Her best friend? Tatiana: No. Mayday: Her babysitter? Zuke: No, no, May. She's- Tatiana: I'mKul Fyra, you nitwits.
Mayday guessing that Tatiana was Kul Fyra's mother is especially funny because, in her own unwittingway, she just told Kul Fyra to her face that she looks old enough to be an adult's mother.
The increasingly petty Snark-to-Snark Combat that Mayday and Tatiana end up getting into while Zuke goes to check on the power output of their battle.
Although this might also be because she just realized that, since they're "the new NSR", they can use both rock and EDM to stop the satellite.
As Mayday, Zuke, and Tatiana take the elevator up to stop the falling NSR satellite, Kliff angrily shouts that their fans will stop them. Cue the elevator quickly going back down just so that Tatiana can uppercut Kliff in the face before it goes back up again.
Despite the fact she's reeling from learning Tatiana is Kul Fyra and had been engaged in Snark-to-Snark Combat just minutes ago, Mayday still finds it within herself to gush about getting a pep talk from Kul Fyra as Bunk Bed Junction goes off to restore power to the districts.
The final Showstopper is an undeniably incredible finish to the game, but at the same time, there's something hilarious about it transforming NSR Tower into a giant hand which makes the devil horns gesture before it just kind of... boops the falling satellite away, resulting in a massive firework.
The final battle starts with what looks like West attempting a gesture of reconciliation, having repaired an old tape player of Zuke's...only to reveal he saved an embarrassing test tape of his brother's to play on it. A tape that specifically starts with Zuke checking that West promises to get rid of it later. As mean-spirited as it was, it's also going to net a few laughs.
Recording!Zuke: I'm a little zonkey! Hee haw! Hee haw!
In response, Mayday proceeds to immediately challenge West to a rap battle:
Mayday: This time, you and me! Rap battle! Yo!
Zuke: Huh?
Even better, when Mayday says the above, you can actually see West slowly stop dancing, indicating he also wasn't expecting that.
The EDM version of DJ Subatomic Supernova's fight theme has the repeated lyric "I wanna see you dancin', movin', groovin' like your pants is off". Decide which is funnier: the possible reference to him being partially underdressed, or the fact that a work with those lyrics is presumably among the music he wants to send throughout the universe.
#ToldbyGeese is a plot recap of the game using the artstyle from Untitled Goose Game which is funny in itself, the video has many funny scenes thrown in:
After losing the audition Geese!Mayday and Zuke are shooed away with a broom.
After defeating DJ Subatomic Supernova the observatory disappears with a pop.
Goose!Mayday equipping a Keyblade for the final battle with Tatiana. (The Holiday Encore version replaces it with the 'Honkore Edition', but which is used in the same way as the Keyblade)
The fact that the NSR satellite is knocked away from the city just by one big honk.
