• When Asuka is flying into a rage and shrieking, the narration notes that Shinji and Misato has learned to tune her out:
  Of those present, only Shinji and Misato had perfected the art of tuning Asuka out.
• When Asuka once again admonishes Shinji for his constant apologizing, Misato tells her that verbal habits can be hard to break, asking her how she would feel if she was told to stop using the word "stupid" all the time. Asuka is obviously unable to think up a face-saving response, and she instead chooses to go quiet.
• Asuka and Shinji have an Almost Kiss, but stop when they realize Misato and their rescue team are staring at them and smirking.
  Asuka: How long have you been standing there?
  Misato: Long enough.
  • In a fan artwork of the scene, even Unit 01 appears to be smiling a little. Looks like Yui approves of her son's relationship.
