Funny / Meet Joe Black

• For some, the scene in which the young man from the coffee shop gets hit by two cars is quite slapstick, in a Black Comedy sort of way.
• When Joe meets the little sick woman in the hospital. It seems to be Nightmare Fuel for her at first but then it gets better.
  Joe: Rotten. Obeah evil, I not evil, ol' ma.
  Old Woman: Then what you is, den?
  Joe: I's from that next place.
  Old Woman: You waitin' here to take us? Like is de bus driver to dere?
  Joe: No, I on holiday.
  Old Woman: (she glances around at the hospital, incredulous) Some spot you pick!
• Joe's first time trying peanut butter is the perfect middle between hilarious and adorable. He sticks the entire spoon in his mouth, not knowing about its consistency, and coughs a little bit as he swallows the spoonful whole. But the taste is immediately enjoyable and he eagerly asks for more, and later at another dinner, he asks the server for a jar. And he even asks for it at the birthday party!
• A line only Anthony Hopkins could pull off with class:
  Parrish: Don't blow smoke up my ass. You'll ruin my autopsy.
• Joe's intense offense when he hears the phrase "as certain as death and taxes" for the first time.
  Joe: What an odd pairing.
• Joe sneaks in just a little bit of guy humor when he visits the old woman later in the story, playfully saying that Susan is now his doctor too (this is after they have made love to each other for the first time.)
