Moments subpages are Spoilers Off. You Have Been Warned!

Previews:

  • The second official trailer reveals that in the 62 years he’s been gone, Buzz doesn’t have a lot left to work with crew-wise aside from a convicted demolitions expert and a nerdy guy who thought he was joining up for a boot camp weekend.
  • The first trailer reveals one of Sox’s many functions: providing white noise while Buzz sleeps. And the noise is clearly being made by the voice actor to boot.
    • Pixar released a video containing seven and a half uninterrupted hours of Sox being a white noise machine. Now you, too can fall asleep to the sound of him hissing.
    • Another trailer has Sox claim that the hyperspace test jump: “was absolutely terrifying and I regret having joined you.”
  • Buzz’s blasé attitude towards the same tentacle that grabbed him earlier grabbing and dragging off a technician in the first official trailer.

Film:

  • Alisha playing dramatic music as Buzz monologues to Featheringhamstan over their duties as Galactic Rangers. Buzz is less than amused.
Alisha: Yeah, but in a supportive way.
    • For that matter, Featheringhamstan's name. Buzz tries to use it in casual conversation with him and quickly gives up after tripping over the pronunciation too many times, defaulting to 'Rookie' instead.
    • The Running Gag of Buzz's refusal to look directly at Featheringhamstan's face because like every other rookie he's encountered, he has Puppy-Dog Eyes that make Buzz instantly cave to his opposition and reluctantly help him out against his better judgement.
  • After Buzz helps Sox get out of getting decommissioned, they run into a Star Command operative who tries to apprehend them, only for her to get brought down by Sox shooting a tranquilizer dart at her.
Buzz: Wait a minute, was that for me? In case I got out of line?
Sox: I bought you five minutes.
    • He doesn't say no.
    • When Zurg is about to activate the crystal and time travel, his Sox uses the same tranquilizer dart on him, and gives the same line to our Buzz.
  • Once Buzz finally reaches hyperspace, the IVAN autopilot congratulates him by playing a fanfare sound effect and even shooting confetti. Sox is later seen spitting out some of the confetti.
    • The gag is repeated at the climax, once Buzz lands the Armadillo tank safely.
  • The Running Gag of random debris being teleported to Zurg's ship instead of the intended items. It reaches its zenith when while on Zurg's ship, Mo accidentally drops a teleporter button first and it re-materializes two feet away, then starts falling on itself and teleporting over and over, to Mo's amusement.
  • Mo's character throughout the film.
  • Anytime Sox does any scanning or hacking he says the sound effects. They are either computer or cat noises.
  • After causing the front half of the mine's control center to rip off and fall into the pit, Mo excitedly sees a still-intact vending machine teetering off the edge. He then purchases four "meat sandwiches" and the vending machine falls over after he's done.
  • As Buzz opens one of the sandwiches from the mine vending machine, he's baffled to find himself holding a slice of bread and pickles between two slices of meat. To the others, it's just how sandwiches have always been, and find Buzz's idea of bread-meat-bread sandwiches ridiculous, with Darby saying that it's too much bread.
  • After receiving a ranger suit, Mo is excited by a pen that’s included in it and at various times, asks if anyone needs it to help the mission, but no one does. Then, at the finale, they need to use the air brakes to cushion their landing, but the panel is stuck, needing something small to open it, Mo excitedly realizes…
Mo: (Holding the pen up) I’ve got the pen!
    • In the climax, after gearing up in his new ranger suit as part of Team Lightyear, he remarks how the suit could use a pen, and is delighted when he finds the new location in an elbow compartment that the pen is stowed in.
  • Buzz and Alisha had a private joke where they connect their index fingers while saying "To infinity and beyond", then mimic an explosion. Later in the movie, Buzz tries to do this with Izzy, who mistakes his extended finger for an attempt to make a "pull my finger" joke and is grossed out.
  • In the denouement, as Buzz and his new team of Space Rangers gets ready to go on their first deployment, Sox shows up as well with a little mini robo-cat Space Ranger chest piece... with no pants, which he becomes awkwardly conscious of.
  • The Mythology Gag of Zurg being Buzz's father, when the Buzzes meet:
    Buzz: Dad!?
