Funny / Infinite Coffee and Protection Detail

  • After all the effort and manipulation (mostly from Lidia) involved in getting Cat Eleanor a cat highway, she is put on the contraption and immediately jumps off after staring at the humans disdainfully. "Three old people, a spy, and a broken-down soldier" proceeded to dissolve into laughter.
  • Mission Imperative, Head, and Briefing are funny when they're arguing with each other, and even funnier when they agree, with their dry, deadpan humor. Occasionally Mission and Briefing will gang up on Barnes as well.
  • After a chapter that ends on a cliffhanger (a HYDRA operative successfully code-words Barnes), the author has this to say:
My darlings, your howls of outrage were sweet balm to my wicked little heart.
  • Barnes casually bantering with the sweaty HYDRA drone that tried to capture him for ransom, complaining (internally) about how his coffee got cold, and asking the drone's opinion on whether he should try a Frappuccino.
  • An irritated Barnes sets Steve's ringtone to the banjo as a prank. It backfires on him nearly immediately when he almost fell from a fire escape at Steve's startled shout when he discovered the change. It gets even funnier when Steve decides he likes the banjo sound after all, and sets it as his alarm, so Barnes has to hear it at ass o'clock in the morning through his bugs (as Steve wakes up for his ungodly early runs). Oops.
