As a Moments subpage, all spoilers are unmarked as per policy. You Have Been Warned.

(Usually) being a comedy-based comic, there's bound to be these:

  • Thanks to its cartoony nature, whenever the comic isn't being serious or heartfelt, expect the characters to occasionally make rather goofy faces.
  • In Roar!, Erma tries to spook her babysitter Felicia. Erma waving her arms when Felicia is unfazed by a Jump Scare makes it better. Making it better still, in the next comic, Erma is sulking because she couldn't scare Felicia.
  • The Killer Puppy in the Pets arc, who seems to be "teething".
  • The Inevitable, where Erma's dad tries to chase down what seems like deranged spirits. Turns out, it was Emiko trying to get Erma to take a bath.
  • The Dodgeball arc.
  • Super Bowl involves something so terrifying, it petrifies Erma: Loud Watch-At-Home Football Fans.
    • A later comic features the same premise, but this time Erma decides to do something about it. The result: a humorous version of PRIME TIME.
  • As scary as Evil! Felicia maybe, she occasionally has a goofy, almost drunk appearance.
  • We learn that Erma is a fan of a show called Warrior Unicorn Princess. From design alone, you'd guess it was a Steven Universe/Friendship is Magic/ Star vs. the Forces of Evil type show, being very magical and colorful, especially with the fact of colorful and cute dolls, though there were undertones of violence and action from the first glimpse. When we finally see a proper view of the show, however, it's surprisingly dark and serious, seeming more like an anime aimed at older audiences (though apparently without sexual content.). Felicia's reaction just sells it.
    Felicia: Talk about false advertising.
    • In "What a Twist", Erma is watching Warrior Unicorn Princess when it seems like a heavy drama bomb is about to be dropped on the relationship between the hero and villain. Just before it does, Erma's mom portals through the TV set, interrupting the show. Erma ends up stuck on this expression of shock.
  • This comic has Erma and her friends catching animals with her phone... Erma, however, takes it a little too literally.
  • This comic has Erma struggling on a math problem, so much so that she causes the entire kitchen to go bonkers. What makes it funnier is that as soon as she figures it out, everything just stops.
  • The Return of Halloween "Arc" involves Erma and her family preparing for Halloween and doing stuff relating to it. However, while last year Erma failed at being scary (thanks to her costume), this year she ends up acting too scary. From goring a pumpkin to scaring away the monsters of a haunted house.
    • Looking for costumes has Erma try out costumes (some of which look rather silly). The punchline? Costume-less Erma is a better costume than any of them.
  • This comic features Erma's teacher giving Erma an A on her quiz. However, she only did it because Erma flunked the test, and feared how she would react to it.
  • Rats in the School Walls, in contrast to the Secrets Arc, is more comical and silly.
    • The first page of the arc has one of the titular rats steal a student's sandwich before running past Erma. Said rat then cutely nuzzles her and runs past her causing her friends to have some amusing "WTF" reactions.
    • Heck, the entire Lunchroom scene is hilarious: We then get Erma being blind to the situation, then Erma trying to catch the rat with increasing levels of intensity, frustration (and hilarity). Just as things start to get out of control, Erma's friend asks why couldn't she just levitate the rat itself. Erma's look just sells it, practically screaming "Why am I such an idiot?!" The teacher also gets knocked out and covered in food-mush when the rat spits food in Erma's face, distracting her and thus loosening her grip on the rat so it flies free... and into the teacher's face, knocking her out as it escapes.
    • When the principal dismisses there being rats in the school, we see Erma's flashbacks to various instances of seeing a lot of rats and actually about to comment on it, before getting cut off.
    • Remember Erma's freakout in the Secrets Arc? Well, turns out it can happen if you simply startle the poor kid. Furthermore, turns out the boy that accidentally spooked her is Connor, the boy who's crushing on her. He ends up being squeezed like a squeaky toy before Erma lets him go and helps him up.
    • The very next comic has the same thing happen to Erma when the kids are freaked out and Connor ends up jumping into Erma's arms (with a mild Crush Blush before a second sound startles him and he squeezes Erma.)
    • The fact that Sidney the Hall Monitor threw Connor in detention for not having a pass for the bathroom. The other students are surprised by this and it's implied that he's not the type of student to get in trouble. Her Eye Am Watching You from the door only adds to this.
      • However, it becomes less funny when it's revealed she's in on the conspiracy.
    • At the end, when Sidney sits at Erma and co.'s table, Erma is shocked to see that Sidney has a Warrior Unicorn Princess lunchbox. When Terry says that their table is only for cool kids, Erma, without changing her expression or stance, uses her Prehensile Hair to squeeze Terry's milk cartoon and soak him in milk.
  • Emiko tended to move around a lot before coming to Blair Wood, because as she explains to Sam. Everywhere she goes tends to end up on fire.
  • Michael's reaction to Emiko casually strolling into the dining room after supposedly being dead for months is priceless. It's a much-needed respite for Spirit's Bloom after all of the serious stuff that came just prior.
  • The Special Guests: A UFO lands next to Erma and aliens emerge from it, demanding her to take them to her leader. The next panel shows Erma introducing the aliens to her justifiably confused parents.
  • Almost every moment from the Fundraiser Fiasco arc. Just the fact that Erma attempts to speak during just about every one of these makes it hilarious in a meta sense.
  • "I said no powers when we snowball fight, Erma!"
    • Erma's epic smug-face at the end. You can practically hear her saying "powers, what powers?".
  • Erma finally gives Terry a free pass to hit her with a snowball, and he STILL somehow manages to screw it up. His overjoyed puppy face right before makes his failure all the more hilarious.
  • QUICK ERMA, ACT NATURAL!
  • The brief moment between Emiko and Sam, with Yori looking amused at the whole thing.
Sam: (referencing Erma racing the twins against Emiko's wishes) I don't know. I kinda want to see how this turns out.
Emiko: Samuel Williams. I know that look in your eyes. It's that spark that leads to another one of your books. Now is not the time for—
Sam: (with a huge smug/thoughtful look on his face) No. No honey. Not at all.
  • When Erma just took out Toru and Kiko and is in the process of taking down Mei, Mitsu and Momo chat amongst themselves that the former was wrong and that Erma can take care of herself. While Momo replies "You sure?" and Mitsu says "Yeah. She's good," they're slowly backing away from Erma, each time in that talk.
  • We never see how Mayumi eats despite not having a mouth since the shot of her eating was taken behind her. Erma however 'did' see her aunt eat, and from her expression still has no idea how she did it.
  • Sam bringing Kentaro back from the bar. Comes during a rather emotional moment too.
  • When the twins, Erma, Rin, and Mayumi are downtown shopping, Mitsu and Momo plan to water balloon Erma and Mayumi while they're sharing a touching moment but Rin stops them, which is heartwarming. But when Misty tries to throw the balloon while Rin is distracted, Erma directs it back at her, and while Mistu dodges, it hits Rin. Cue Mitsu going to attempt to explain that wasn't her for a second before realizing it's a lost cause, and the twins bolt off as Rin beings to chase them. Erma then laughs, before getting hit herself, causing her to chase after the twins as well. Then Mayumi tries to keep up with them.
    • When Rin gets tired from chasing them as Mayumi catches up with her, she tells Mayumi to remind her to never have kids.
  • Erma's first interaction with her grandfather Osamu. Particularly watching Osamu, who has been played up as the dreaded and a monster, coo and dote over Erma like a normal grandfather while his kids, servants, and Sam stare with increasingly over-the-top Reaction Shots... including one from Mayumi.
  • Emiko reacts very strongly to seeing her daughter dressed in her childhood kimono. Poor Erma can only try and awkwardly calm her down while she engages in a joyous bout of Inelegant Blubbering while declaring "how beautiful her baby is".
    • ... And on the other side of the Mom Spectrum, we see Yori immediately recognize that Mitsu & Momo are going to cause trouble and force them to empty their pockets, the contents of which end up being half a ton of fireworks and other assorted explosives. Erma can only look on dumbfounded.
  • When the Youkai parade reaches the city, eveyrone is amazed...until an elderly Japanese man is questioning why Sam (both human and Caucasian) is joining in. Sam just shrugs.
  • The final strip for the Family Reunion hangs a few lampshades on how long the trip was (the comic took place throughout the equivalent of five and a half years). The family initially look happy, then become utterly exhausted and flop onto the furniture.
    Sam: Finally. Home sweet home.
Emiko: Tell me about it. That whole week felt like forever.

Misc

  • One strip has Erma getting a piggyback ride from Pyramid Head while a few nurses look on in shock. Imagine if James Sunderland saw that on his trip.
  • For April Fools 2022, we see what looks like Erma trying to speak to the reader, only to find out that there was a window between her and the reader so they couldn't hear anything she was saying. After she opens it, she is about to speak up...and then her mother interrupts by saying it's time for dinner.

13 Days of Erma-Ween

Every Halloween, Erma gets to hang out with characters from numerous horror media which can be both cute and hilarious.
  • Day 3, 2016: Erma, while fishing with her dad, somehow catches Cthulhu. Her confused reaction just sells it.
  • Day 4, 2016: Erma and Siris meet Jeff the Killer and Smile Dog, Jeff is fairly normal (well, as normal as a cartoony version of a creepy serial killer can be), but Smile Dog, who originally had a demented demon smile, now has a smile you would see a cartoon dog make, massive teeth and all.
  • Day 3, 2019: In a crossover with Castlevania, Erma and several monsters, including Kid Dracula, have lined up behind Simon Belmont. But, Erma and the monsters all have maracas, much to Simon's annoyance.
  • Day 8 of 2019 has Erma having tea with Alfred Hitchcock while everyone else is swarmed to death by aggressive birds.

  • Day 6 of 2020 has Erma on a swing...that's created by a tentacle from Nemesis being held in the hands of Mr. X all while Chris Redfield, his sister, and Jill Valentine are looking bewildered at these bio-weapons playing nice to this little ghostly girl.
  • Day 7 of 2020 has her reading with Edgar Allan Poe...and Erma shuts the raven who quoths "Nevermore" by clonking an apple at its beak.
  • Day 9 of 2020 has Erma hanging out with some Killer Klowns from Outer Space by raining cream pies on them.

  • In Day 12 of 2021, Erma meets The Endless and she and Death have just slapped a "Peck Me" sigh on Dreams, causing multiple birds to do just that. Destiny is facepalming, Destruction and Delirium are laughing, and both Desire and Despair have no comment.
