Is the remake of Dead Space as horrific as the original and then some? Yes. Is it still hilarious at times? Also yes!

  • The remake follows the trend of the original second game when it comes to Isaac stomping repeatedly for long enough - grunting and swearing rather loudly. Considering the circumstances, it's some much-needed, if unexpected, levity.
Isaac: (stomp) FUCKING (stomp) DIE (stomp) MOTHER (stomp) FUCKER!
  • Whereas Isaac rather stoically retrieved and installed the Stasis and Kinesis modules in the original after finding them, Isaac finds his Stasis module in the remake, still attached to it's original owner's... severed arm, which Isaac squeamishly picks up while trying to detach the module from the arm.
  • If Isaac runs out of ammo for all of his equipped weapons, he will often yell some obscenities in frustration.
Isaac: Hey, thanks, CEC! YOU PIECE OF SHIT!
  • Graffiti, taken almost verbatim from the original.
    This ship is FUCKED UP
hey it's okay to be fucked up
  • One of the pre-order suits, "Infested", is mostly pretty horrific to look at since it shows Isaac completely mutilated. What isn't horrific (well, it is, but in a funny way) is when Isaac removes his helmet during scenes where he talks to others... only for his entire head to come off with it, leaving only the stump of his neck. The developers have confirmed that this was intentional.
  • Aboard the Valor, Hammond contacts Isaac to warn him that there's a nuke aboard the ship with them, and that Isaac needs to handle it. Isaac is quick to respond that he's a ship engineer, not a nuclear engineer.
  • If you decide to play Z-Ball, you'll hear the usual chanting from the Marker-induced delusions cheering Isaac on. Even the Marker seems to appreciate some good Z-Ball plays.
  • In Hydroponics, if you switch off the deck's "Jungle Ambience" you can hear the Leviathan roar in response. Seems even a massive eldritch abomination doesn't like anyone messing with its tunes.
  • When Isaac decides to fight the Leviathan when ejecting it into space fails.
Cross: The Leviathan has a ten-kiloton mass! Do you really need me to tell you this is a bad idea?
Isaac: Well, I'm all out of good ideas, so guess what's left.
  • Isaac, upon escaping the final drag tentacle, is just about fed up with everything.
Kyne: Mr. Clarke! Are you there?!
    Isaac: Fuck this ship.
    Kyne: Oh, Altman be praise—
    Isaac: Fuck Altman, too.
  • Kendra is not pleased that Isaac gave Kyne, who to put it mildly has some screws loose, the only shuttle off the ship.
Kendra: (annoyed) So glad you gave that guy our only escape shuttle.
  • And of course, there's always Peng!
  • Necromorphs can end up Impaled with Extreme Prejudice if you throw sharp stuff at them with Kinesis. You can, of course, fire their own blades at them. There's an achievement for catching a blade off of a dangling piece of flesh to impale its former owner with.
  • And finally, as the cherry on top, what's your reward for completing Impossible difficulty? The Hand Cannon! Just like in 2, the Hand Cannon is a foam finger (with Jiggle Physics this time around, to boot) that kills everything in one, two, maybe three shots. Even Isaac's melee attacks with it are a one-hit kill. It has infinite ammunition, it has no need to reload, and it is an absolute delight for Isaac if his delighted, child-like onomatopoeia whenever he uses it are anything to go by.
Real space. Real terror. Real foam.
    [Primary Fire] - Bang!
    [Secondary Fire] - Pew!
  • For Halloween 2023, the Dead Space YouTube page posted a two-hour video of ambience from the Ishimura, including metallic banging in the distance, muffled screams, ominous violins, and industrial noises. It was billed as an ASMR video.
