Talk about an Incongruously-Dressed Zombie!
- Several of the zombies have a funny theme, such as the Hare Krishna Zombie (pictured), the Nun Zombie, the Baseball zombie, and so on.
- Not to forget the zombie who grabbed an assault rifle, and somehow manages to keep hold of it throughout the entire movie. And then gives it to Peter on the rooftop in exchange for his rifle!
- Roger wordlessly stopping Imperial Stormtrooper Marksmanship Academy graduate Stephen from wasting ammo with body shots and hitting perfect head shots himself, twice in the same scene. The first time he calmly walks up to Stephen, gently pushes his gun aside, lines up his shot and hits the mark. The second time, he more forcefully knocks the gun away with his own, in order to keep Peter from being killed by friendly fire. Stephen's "Oh Come on" look and shoulder shrug after the second kill is priceless.
- The entire concept of Roger being pushed around in the wheelbarrow (covered in guns and ammo) is just amusing.
- "We got this man! We got this by the ass!"
- The montage of the four survivors running around and having fun in the mall.
- Special attention to Peter and Stephen in the bank, to rob it blind ("You never know"). They brazenly walk right in and grab all the cash they can, then exit through the line stanchions like regular customers. To top it off, they shake hands with a large wad of cash in each of their other hands and pose for the security camera.
- The bikers throwing pies at the zombies.
- As well as spraying them with seltzer bottles.
- One of them REALLY wants to try the blood pressure monitor. Another biker asks what the hell he's doing while they're looting, then later as they're overrun, he decides to go and sit down and put his arm in it again as they swarm him.
- When the bikers raid the mall, they waste their time looting useless things like money and jewelry, which no longer has any value. One picks up a dress shirt and tie...then promptly puts it back, because even they aren't stupid enough to want that.
- The female zombie with the lollipop stuck to her hair.
- All the rednecks the main characters fly over early in the movie. For the end of the world, or at least the collapse of society, the sight of rural folk, the US Army and National Guard, firefighters, police and paramedics all together and having a good time while shooting the undead always gets a laugh.
- When the four leads first enter into the mall through the roof the room they emerge into is full of boxes of nothing but tinned meat, leading to this classic exchange between Roger and Fran:Fran: (dismissively) Spam.
Roger: Did you bring a can opener?
Fran: (Beat) No, I guess I didn't.
Roger: Then don't knock it, it's got its own key.
