  • The opening quote about how bears are not actively hostile ends with "Source: Wikipedia".
  • After savaging the female hiker at the start, the bear roars into the camera... and is then distracted by a butterfly.
  • Henry trying, and failing, to pretend he's a hardcore cocaine addict.
  • A major theme of the movie is that Drugs Are Bad, something referenced every now and again like through Sari as a nurse. So, naturally, when Dee Dee and Henry find one of the cocaine bricks scattered in the park, they immediately try to use it. But this doesn't delve into budding junkie territory, as neither of them actually know how to use cocaine, and Henry, acting as if he's a hardened crackhead, says they eat it. As if they're eating tablespoons of sugar. Needless to say, it is very quickly spit out and both kids gag at the taste.
  • The bear doing snow angels after eating a brick of cocaine.
    • There's a consistent Running Gag of the bear's brutality being contrasted with other bizarrely cute moments such as the aforementioned butterfly moment, her panting like a dog on the porch after the tense scene of Liz and the Duchamps preparing for an attack, or gleefully tearing into the medic's duffel bag for coke like a puppy looking for a treat.
  • Liz accidentally shooting one of the Duchamps in the head, and then playing it off as an accident.
  • There’s something very amusing about Eddie getting emotional advice from Stache as Stache leads them to the cocaine, especially with Daveed in the background getting annoyed at both the fact that they’re having this conversation and the entire situation in the first place.
  • Stache talks about his bond with the other Duchamps, and how they are planning to go to New York. This is after the other two were killed at the ranger station and we get an inappropriately upbeat Imagine Spot of the three sitting together, the other two mauled, decapitated, and shot.
  • The entire ambulance scene is the perfect mix of nightmarish and darkly comedic. Between Liz trying to shoot the bear, Depeche Mode blasting on the radio, and the bear somehow doing a super leap into the ambulance.
Liz: CLOSE THE FUCKING DOOR YOU DUMBASS!
  • Daveed's overly specific answers to 20 Questions ("is it Abraham Lincoln?" was his '10th'). Becomes a Brick Joke and Heartwarming when he reveals it's because he knew it was Joan and didn't want to get Eddie crying again.
  • Eddie, Daveed, Stache, and Bob first meeting the Bear. It starts prowling around the gazebo where they are, with Daveed moving around away from its sight and Eddie and Stache playing dead on the ground. After a tense moment where it sniffs the prone Eddie…..it lays on him and passes out. As in, a massive bear (mostly the lower half of one) is covering the entire top half of his body.
  • The above leads to the following exchange:
    Eddie: (muffled) It's a girl.
    Stache: How do you know?
Eddie: (still muffled) Because its vagina is on my ear.
  • As he dies, Bob points out how stupid Syd is being:
"An apex predator... high on cocaine... and you're heading towards it."
  • Syd's skewed priorities:
Bob, dying from his gun wound: I trusted you....with Rosette!
    Syd: Who's Rosette?
Reba: His dog. I left her in the car.
Syd: You left a dog in the car!?!?!
Eddie: You left my son alone in St. Louis.
(Syd silences him with a hand)
  • The fact that Bob has only had Rosette for a day and all his interactions with her with were annoyance... only for him, as he is dying, to have a final Dream Montage of their time together like it was the most important relationship he's ever had.
  • Rosette (Bob's dog) eating Daveed's severed fingers, and him not even being upset since he figured they were beyond saving at that point.
  • In The Stinger, Stache has the remaining cocaine and hitches a ride with a sheep farmer. He tosses the duffel bag with the cocaine into the truck bed with the sheep...then changes his mind and pulls it out, clearly not willing to deal with the idea of more coked-up animals.
