Funny / Charlie and Lola

Go To

  • The Running Gag of Lola taking the phrase "hop into bed" literally.
  • Lola's excuses for not going to bed in "I am Not Sleepy and I Will Not Go to Bed". She pretends that she has to feed some tigers, that there are whales in the bath, that a lion ate her toothbrush (and when Charlie points out that it's still there, she says, "I suppose he must've been using yours, then!"), and that her pyjamas actually belong to dogs. Rather than argue, Charlie just plays along.
Charlie: "The dogs say that the pyjamas would look better on you."
  • "We Do Promise Honestly We Can Look After Your Dog":
    • The girls making up crazy stories about Sizzles, claiming he can talk, paint pictures, etc.
    • When Sizzles goes missing, then he and an identical dog shows up, the girls sum it up as, "He sort of went for a walk without his lead, and then he wasn't just one, he was two Sizzleses, so now we're not sure if Sizzles is Sizzles anymore!".
  • In "Snow is My Favourite and My Best", Charlie tries to cheer Lola (who was sad that it was no longer snowing) up by saying that snow wouldn't be special if it snowed every day. He asks how she'd feel if she had a party every day... but she says she'd enjoy it.
  • At the end of "I Spy with My Little Eyes", Charlie tries to scare Lola with the possibility of an ogre neighbour. Lola deadpans, "No, because ogres don't exist".
  • In "I am Collecting a Collection", some of Lola's ideas for collections include cookies and other people's things.
  • One of Lola's wacky superstitions in "Never Ever Never Step on the Cracks" is that there are monsters called "sea ticklers", which tickle people.
  • In "I Really Absolutely Must Have Glasses", Lola can't pronounce "optician", so she calls her the "eye test lady".
  • "Help! I Really Mean It!":
  • In the dinosaur episode, when Charlie is showing Lola his dinosaur toys, Lola is imagining that they're real dinosaurs. When he gets to the T. Rex, she says, "Look at his hands, Charlie! His teeny tiny eensy-weensy hands!". The imaginary T. Rex then looks awkwardly at his hands.
  • "It Wasn't Me!":
    • Charlie's reaction to Lola breaking his rocket:
      Charlie: "Argh! My rocket! LOLAAAAAA!"
Lola and Soren Lorenson rush off and guzzle down some pink milk.
    • Lola's lies that follow. At first she denies both her own and Soren Lorenson's guilt.
    • She then takes advantage of her Ms. Imagination status, and explains that her toy elephant, Ellie, needed to escape some nasty hyenas, and we cut to a hilarious shot of Lola and Soren Lorenson trying to squeeze him into the rocket.
    • When it finally seems like she's going to own up to breaking the rocket, she blames it on Soren Lorenson, and he looks at her like "Bruh!".
  • In the episode with the ice skates, Lola says that she isn't ice skating, but rather "ice slipping" because she's having so much trouble.
  • From "It is Absolutely, Completely Not Messy":
    • Lola's insistence that her and Charlie's bedroom isn't messy, but rather "spread out".
    • When Charlie goes to put the ceramic cow on the shelf next to the books, Lola says that cows belong on the ground eating grass, not on the shelf "eating books".
    • When Charlie tells Lola to pick up the trail of random things she put to lead to the closet away, she says that she can't, because if she doesn't, she might forget the way to the closet, and thus lose her toy frog, which is apparently Soren Lorenson's favourite.
    • At the end of the episode, Lola has become a Neat Freak and asks Charlie if he's "sleeping tidily".
