Season One

A Fortune in Sin

  • Poor Jack Ryder’s attempts to get an interview out of the people of Gotham. Most everyone he meets is a nutcase or a Crook in their thirties passing as a kid to mug him.
  • This advertisement showing how bad an impact on the party clown industry the Joker has had:
    Blabbo the Birthday Clown!
He is just a birthday clown!
It’s a really bad time to be a birthday clown,
    So maybe help him out!
  • An advertisement for the Iceberg Lounge doesn’t even try to hide that they’re coercing their big star into headlining there. At the end, the man can even be heard begging to see his daughter.

The Skylight in the Nursery

  • Mayor Hill’s announcement that Batman is to be deputized. He can be heard pouring himself a drink as he explains to the audience - and himself - that the citizens of Gotham have elected an anonymous vigilante as a legalized officer of the law for reasons he cannot comprehend.
  • An anti-Scarecrow drug PSA has an interesting view of the mind of the teenage junkie:
“Like all addicts, we’re eager to give away our drugs for free!”

Forged Without a Smith

  • Mayor Hill asks Batman for advice on how to avoid Catwoman’s retribution for a combination of female exploitation and hunting trophies of lions. Batman tells him to announce an initiative to tackle teenaged runaways, make a sizable personal donation to a battered women’s shelter, dispose of the trophies, and adopt a cat. It’s the last one that Hill freaks out over.
  • The state of the Gotham tourism industry: An ad starts by encouraging listeners to visit Metropolis instead (less than 100 miles away), before talking up their bulletproof, airtight buses with fire-suppression systems and air conditioning for those not swayed.
Gotham View Bus! You won’t find a better bus that’s not leaving town!

Daisy, Daisy...I'm Half Crazy

  • Mayor Hill’s latest PSA. He is dumbfounded that the advice they are giving for gas attacks is to go the other way. He also berates the song writers for rhyming “way” with “way” and asks if they were drinking while writing the song.

My Medium is Crime

  • Riddler interrupts an ad for a seafood restaurant offering an unlimited hush puppy deal. Specifically, he interrupts the announcer explaining that the deal is “Unlimited within reason” and that the listener shouldn’t be the guy to ruin it for everyone. When it cuts back to the commercial, the announcer is explaining that a good rule of thumb is that if the customer feels like they over did it on hush puppies, they probably did.

The Whale of Damocles

  • A television recreation of the Joker’s origin story casts what can essentially be described as Tommy Wiseau as the clown Prince of Crime:
(In a stilted Polish accent) Now I am becoming the Joker! Why are YOU so serious! Ha, ha, hee, hee, ho, ho! Wait until they are getting a load of me!

Iceberg Dead Ahead

  • Jack Ryder tripping on Scarecrow Drugs in the middle of interviewing Commissioner Gordon at Penguin’s gala:
Jack Ryder: (calmly) I have no reason to think you're lying, but be straight with me and the people of Gotham, why are you leading us all naked and screaming to the Joker’s killing floor?
Gordon: ...I'm sorry, what you talking?
Ryder: (more panicked) Tell us the truth: Isn't the Joker going to grab every one of us by the ankles and dunk us over and over into a sucking pit of madness until we beg for the privilege of a gun barrel in our mouths?
[Later, as the Riddler attacks the casino with a cruise ship]
Ryder: IT'S MAYHEM HERE AT THE ICEBERG CASINO! THE WOOLY MAMMOTH IS BEING FORKLIFTED OUT OF HERE! CAVEMEN ARE STAMPEDING! SOME OR ALL OF THIS MIGHT BE HALLUCINATIONS, BECAUSE I'M APPARENTLY TRIPPING HARD! BUT ONE THING'S NOT A HALLUCINATION: THIS REPORTER IS GETTING THE HELL OUT OF HERE! BEFORE THE JOKER SEEDS INSIDE ME GROW INTO TINY JOKERS AND THEN ALL THE TINY JOKERS CRAWL OUT OF MY MOUTH AND CHEW MY FACE OFF! I’M JOKE RYDER, JOKER CITY ONE!

Season Two

Stabberscotch

  • In order to distract a gangster during a black market auction, Robin calls his private number pretending to be Blabbo the Birthday Clown. The gangster vows to hunt down Blabbo after the call makes him lose a bid. The subsequent radio ad is for none other than Blabbo, boasting that his business / residential address is in the yellow pages and that he doesn’t lock his doors.
