Funny / Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!

Go To

  • The Disguise Expert in the first movie, who dresses in a cheap Tomato costume but is still able to fool them. Until he asks for someone to pass the ketchup.
  • The Product Placement Running Gag used during the middle third of Return.
  • The overall premise: mutant human-eating sentient tomatoes that can't survive against bad pop music.
  • In the first film, the extremely cramped situation room that the military leaders have to cram into.
  • "This, God help us all...is a cherry tomato."
  • This guy.

The Animated Series

  • When Gangreen explains to Chad that he's not mad, but angry in the animated series' first episode, Chad taunts him by doing the "he's crazy" gesture.
  • In the episode Camp Casserole, Zoltan's totally justifiable reaction to when Larry, the two-mile wide giant killer tomato, is awakened.
Zoltan: He's awake. I think I'd like to run away now.
Gangreen: You were supposed to talk to him! You were supposed to control him!
    Zoltan: With what army?!
  • The Gang That Couldn't Squirt Straight:
    • Gangreen trying to assure Igor he wouldn't really fire his bazooka at the escaping Gang of Six, only to pull the trigger and scuttle their blimp by accident as he's talking.
    • A distinctly unamused Igor smacking Gangreen on the knuckles with a ruler like a naughty schoolboy for shooting the Gang of Six. With Gangreen meekly submitting to his punishment and quietly insisting he really is sorry.
    • When the Mayor suggests making Finletter the new sheriff, Finletter protests that he'd have to close down his tomato-less pizza shop to take up the role. This just makes everybody, including Finletter's nephew Chad, his employee Tara, and the Mayor himself, all the more intent to give him the job. Which gets a great callback at the episode's end, when Finletter happily announces his intent to return to pizza-making and both Chad and Tara groan in dismay.
    • Chad attempts to infiltrate the Gang of Six's new lair, only to get captured immediately... because they heard him narrating his entrance.
    • Chad being too embarrassed to admit to Tara that he's being held hostage in exchange for fertilizer.
  • The Ripening Disaster:
    • The Gang of Six absolutely do not want to undergo Gangreen's tomato enhancement process, forcing Gangreen and Igor to chase them around the lab. Highlights include Gangreen's surprisingly good hockey skills, and Igor getting the drop on Zoltan followed by pitching him like a baseball right into the transformation tube.
    • Gangreen's rationale for giving Beefsteak the role of conquering Europe? Because bullfighting and baloney both come from Europe and Beefsteak is full of "bull-oney", with the clear inference that he's substituting "baloney" at the last moment for "bullshit".
    • Ketchuk launches his plane to begin his attack on Asia, only to be so heavy that the plane nosedives into the ground and just bores its way underground. A watching Gangreen mildly muses that's one way to get to China.
  • The Great Tomato Transformation:
    • The sheer premise of the episode: Killer Tomatoes can transform people into tomatoes by chewing them up and spitting them out... and they can also turn other tomatoes into humans in the same way. Cue the Gang of Six tomato-izing the Killer Tomato Task Force... who then attack the Gang of Six and turn them all into humans out of spite.
    • A tomato-ized Finletter initially tries to convince Chad and Tara that it's him by appealing to their memories of him. When that fails, he goes on an angry rant, calling them long-haired draft-dodging hippies, and they immediately accept that he's the real deal.
