  • One of the TV ads for the film had someone asking random moviegoers what the fear of spiders was called. One of the responses was a clear joke about the ongoing Operation Desert Shield: "Iraqiphobia?"
  • Delbert McClintock is a goldmine of funny moments, especially the scene when he encounters a lone spider just outside a client's house; spraying it seemingly has no effect, so what does he do? March right up to the creepy crawly and step on it with a sickening crunch. Afterwards a dog barks at him, causing him to casually reply, "Yeah, that's right. I'm bad!"
  • During his inspection, Delbert asks if anyone would object to him tearing a floor out. When Molly says she would object, he claims it was a "false alarm."
  • When Molly meets the Beecher family, she asks what Becky plans to study in college and is told "gym." When she jokes that the coach's son being the quarterback is nepotism, Mrs. Beecher says that actually, they're Baptists.
  • When Lloyd finds a dead spider, Ross jokes that maybe it died from the shock of seeing him.
  • After Atherton has arrived, Lloyds brings Delbert along, who claims to have come across one of the spiders (which the audience knows happened, and saw him step on it), Atherton asks if he's got it with him, and we get this:
Delbert: Actually, I think it's still on the bottom of my shoe... You can't really tell what it is now.
    (Ross face-palms appropriately.)
