Fridge / Sonic and the Secret Rings

Go To

Fridge Brilliance:

  • One odd detail about Sonic and the Secret Rings is why Erazor Djinn needed to sacrifice the collector of the seven World Rings, in this case Sonic, in order to access their power. However, remember that the characters in the story couldn't touch the rings, only Sonic could. That could mean Sonic was the only one who could actually use the power of the rings without sacrifice! It would also help explain why Sonic was able to draw some of the World Rings away from Erazor after Sharha was killed. She helped Sonic on his quest, but wasn't directly responsible for collecting them, so Erazor's control of the World Rings was incomplete and Sonic's negative emotions let him steal those specific World Rings back.
  • It's heavily implied that Erazor and Shahra were together at one point, but it's never outright stated what they were. Shahra is very resistant to his influence until right before the final battle, where she (rather easily) gives in to Erazor, while other times she remains firmly against him. It's possible Erazor was using some sort of ambiguous Mind Control at the last minute to force Shahra to give him the World Rings. When Shahra speaks, her tone is very monotonous and she's not showing much emotion at all. Why else would Sonic's wish cause her pain when he wished for her to "do what was right?" Also, a minor eye-catcher to add to this theory is that once Sonic makes the wish, Erazor's lamp immediately appears right behind Sonic and Shahra, and yet it never shows that Shahra intentionally left this behind.
  • If you're working from an Islamic perspective rather than a Biblical one, King Solomon is a perfect choice for the one who first sealed Erazor away. In Islam, Solomon had the ability to speak to animals and djinn, and is said to have sealed many demons using a ring given to him by God. The 1001 Nights even frequently mentions him as the one who sealed djinns inside their now-iconic lamps and bottles.
  • Why does Secret Rings not have letter grades for level completion even though every other 3D Sonic game since Adventure 2 had them? Letters being missing is why Sonic's here in the first place.
