Fridge Brilliance

  • So many of the male students are attracted to Jin. This is perhaps because in their eyes, he looks incredibly feminine. This is given that, in this world, female students look largely human and the male students like animals walking on two legs; human face and skin would be female traits by default.
  • Why are the donkeys engaged in a Magic The Gathering trading card game expy, an activity typically associated with extremely nerdy people? It's because they're smart asses.
  • The principal comes first, then the teachers, and finally the students; thus why the principal is Paleozoic, the teachers are Mesozoic, and the students are Cenozoic.
  • Just as how a panda is a white bear with black spot, Meimei is a white girl (blonde hair, fair skin, green eyes) with black spots on her bangs to go with her black ears. For a bonus, she wears black thigh highs for her school uniform, in allusion to pandas having black legs.
  • When Meimei wakes in episode 6 she notices that she has Jin's blanket covering her. The blanket was stitched Kanji for man 人 on it. This is also how Jin writes his name, the blanket literally had his name all over it.
  • Jerkass Has a Point when Jin turns down Ranka's advances. Wolves mate for life. What would normally be a fleeting thing in any other high school would have serious ramifications for Ranka later in life.
  • Yukari's Super-Strength proves that the urban myths hold as much water as biological fact in this universe, which explains a lot about Anne Anetani's motives - the belief that Cro-Magnon man hunted neanderthals to extinction is considered a myth.
  • Why is Anne drawn in the exact same style as Jin and Hitomi? Because neanderthals are subject to the same Sexy Dimorphism as all other animals, and since neanderthals already look quite similar to humans, Anne looks nearly indistinguishable from human females, apart from several subtle tells that Jin and the rest missed at first. Even then, Jin pointing at her hair and eye color to make the identification of her as a neanderthal probably falls under Right for the Wrong Reasons.
  • Terano having extra fingers in earlier appearances might have been intentional, considering paleontologists originally thought the Tyrannosaurus had three fingers on each hand.
  • It makes sense as to why Jin has a massive amount of knowledge to animals despite hating them; being an animal hater, Jin would usually go out of his way to study more about them, wanting to use that knowledge to his advantage by either warding them off or as protection. While all of these is true, it also unknowingly makes a part of his Jerk with a Heart of Gold to help them in any way he could.

Fridge Horror

  • One of the things Jin complained while recalling the incident that led him to hating animals (it involves getting man-handled by some very nasty bears) is Ranka licking his wounds afterwards. But if Ranka's mouth can be potentially dirty, her attempt at Wound Licking could give him a bad infection instead...
    • While Ranka is a wolf, it’s also been confirmed that dogs have pretty clean mouths, so it’s unlikely that he’d get an infection especially since, as an anthropomorphic wolf, she likely brushes her teeth, meaning that, unless she has some serious health issues, her mouth probably isn’t dirty enough to cause an infection. Still, it’s pretty gross.
