- When he's first searching for the new Princess Chroma, Spiders believes it to be May, who better fits the stereotypical Magical Girl profile. It turns out that Spiders isn't just going by genre knowledge; he knew the original Princess Chroma, who had a demeanor much like May
- It's eventually revealed via flashback that the original Chroma was really a dark mage. This was foreshadowed by June's freakout in Chapter Four, in which she summons an ultimate evil and literally plunges everything around her into darkness. It also sets the stage for what happens when June finds out that her powers, which she didn't even want in the first place, come from the same source as the monsters she fights.
