Fridge Brilliance (comic)

After X-Men #25 and the conclusion of Fatal Attractions crossover, two subsequent issues showed Xavier talking to a psychic incarnation of Magneto in his head:
  • Uncanny X-Men #309, just before Jean and Cyclops's marriage, has him delve into his memories of Amelia Voght, another former lover. Throughout the issue, a figment reprenting Magneto talks to him and back at him, for trying to hide the truth of his memories.
  • Uncanny X-Men #319, in the prelude to Legion Quest, has Xavier in another dream sequence where he talks to Magneto, this time a bit calmer than the previous encounter.
The narrative dismisses this as simply Xavier's mind/subconscious using a representation of Magneto to explore some concern on his mind. But what if, in hindsight, this was not a mere figment, but Magneto's "shard" he left inside of Xavier's mindscape, as shown in Wolverine Vol. 2 issue #104, during the Onslaught crossover? Suddenly, the plot point of Magneto's psychic avatar planting something in Xavier's mind is a bit more explainable with on-panel evidence that acts as Foreshadowing.
