It's not overtly obvious, but the hokey slurs ("space-men") used in the Federation (as Monsha demonstrated early on) shows just how increasingly hostile people on Earth and Feddie loyalists in space have become against Spacenoids. Whereas Spacenoids and certain Newtypes tend to banter on about Earthnoids' souls being weighed down by gravity, the latter view the former as being delusional utopians who're way over their heads. Thus ironically, the Fantastic Racism aspect of the Universal Century is mirrored by both sides and doomed to be solidified further down the line.
If Nakato and the rest of the 401st Security Company were in on the plan to establish a future Titans, it would make senses that he and his officers are being an Obstructive Bureaucrat and a Jerkass before they opened fire on Lucette and Kou. In this case, they need to delay the operational use of the GP03 as much as possible.
The ending shows the Albion crew joining the Titans. They're likely all dead by the end of the next series.
Later materials revealed that Monsha managed to survive the war, but he, like many former-Titans, went into hiding on Mars to escape prosecution for war crimes, and, ironically, joined Re Zeon, showing that even if the former Albion crew end up surviving the conflict, chances are high they still met unpleasant fates.
