Fridge Brilliance:

  • Stewart being secretly a huge hockey fan makes sense considering the Season 4 finale. His cousins are James and Hudson Bay, and he probably had to go to their games as a kid.
  • When local toughs arrive at Wayne's house for a fight, Wayne scrupulously insists that they wait just outside the property line. This would clear him of any legal liability for his combatant getting injured on his property. Given how old-school Wayne is, it also might be an acknowledgment of Sacred Hospitality: It wouldn't be proper to beat up someone who's technically a guest at your home.
  • The subverted cold open at the start of "I'm a Degen" does just about everything possible to set itself apart from the usual cold opens. Dary is the one delivering it during night time whereas usually it's Wayne saying something in the day, and then the cold open itself is Mick cruelly swindling Jivin' Pete into overspending on his truck. Daryl even tries to participate in the usual wordplay only to fall under Mick's spell. It's as creepy as possible.
  • The song playing during the climax of "Snooters" is 'Febersvan' by GAUPA. It's a great song in general, but it actually makes perfect sense for the scene: the lyrics are the sentence "Feel our shelter running through our hands" repeated in slightly different forms. This song plays when Daryl realises that the new friends he'd made who he thought wouldn't judge him like the Hicks did are actually a bunch of complete psychopaths, and he no longer feels safe with them.
