Fridge / Joseph: King of Dreams

Fridge Brilliance

  • The look on Judah's face when he (unknowingly) tells Joseph that he would not allow his father to suffer again. According to Genesis Chapter 38, Judah had lost two of his own sons. He was unwilling to let his father suffer further what he himself had suffered.
  • Zuleika isn't heard from again after Joseph is taken to prison. No word about forgiving her in a movie about forgiveness. Double Standard? Or is it because she, unlike Potiphar and Joseph's brothers, never actually confessed or even apologized? When Potiphar asked her why Joseph should be spared, she remained silent. While the implication is clear, that implication could just as easily been ignored. This shows that, whatever regret she felt, her reputation was more important to her.
  • Benjamin is shown to be much more shy and humble than Joseph at his age, despite growing up the same way with added overprotectiveness. It's possible the overprotectiveness has helped create a child who is more Spoiled Sweet than a Spoiled Brat. Also, as pointed out on the WMG page, Rachel died giving birth to him - he might have a sense of guilt for this that adds further to his shyness and humility.

Fridge Horror

  • The way the flashbacks work, it's heavily implied that Joseph has PTSD from his experiences in slavery. Watch how he reacts when his brothers show up: That's trauma.
  • It's because of Joseph that the Hebrew ancestors came to Egypt. Come The Prince of Egypt, they're gonna be reconsidering that move....
  • When Joseph threatens Benjamin with slavery, he says to his brothers "Why would you care if I take him, beat him, make him a slave?" Is this coming from his own personal experience? Was Joseph beaten in slavery? It isn't an outlandish theory. Although Potiphar would never have been the type of man to do such a thing, we don't truly know what the Ishmaelites who initially had him did to him.
  • Joseph's brothers spent 20 years lying to Jacob about his 'death'. Now they'll have to explain he's been alive this whole time in Egypt. That's gonna be one awkward conversation.
    • Not to mention that while Joseph may have forgiven his brothers, he still has two decades worth of PTSD from being betrayed, enslaved, falsely accused, and imprisoned. That isn't something that a simple confession can fix, especially since Joseph never saw his mother again.
