Fridge / Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law

Go To

Fridge Brilliance

  • Why does Harvey almost always lose his cases (aside from the Rule of Funny)? It's a combination of two factors: one, he's too noble and heroic to turn down any client in need, even when they are obviously guilty; and two, the judge is usually Mentok the MIND TAKER, who can't be deceived!
  • Harvey tended to win more cases in the early episodes. What else was different back then? The judge! Not only was Judge Mightor not a Mind Taker (and thus easier to fool), but we learn in "The Dabba-Don," that he'd been corrupt and bribable this entire time! Harvey's luck certainly changed when the court switched to a (usually) unbiased judge that couldn't be deceived (and was presumably a lot harder for some cave-mobsters to whack).
  • Mightor's involvement with Fred Flintstone's mob; Mightor is a cave-man! Fred's prehistoric mafia no doubt extends beyond Bedrock, and into other prehistoric communities, like Mightor's.
  • The hints of romance between Reducto and Inch High are never expanded on...so one could say that they have the smallest, shortest, most perfectly miniature romance on the show!
  • Why is Inch High so responsive to Reducto's obsession with him, when most people would be creeped out by it? No one pays attention to the Inch High Private Eye, even his own lawyer! He's tickled pink to have any kind of attention.
  • Why is Phil subconsciously attracted to his daughter, and later his sister (or cousin) Phillis? He's an egomaniac. The person he's really in love with is himself.
  • Bird Girl may be more heroic and intelligent than Phil, but she still inherited a few traits from her dad: his over-dramatic reactions, and his obliviousness/denial about certain hard truths (she blows his sexist remark off as a joke, just as he blows off any hints of her being Bird Girl).
  • Inch-High Private Eye lost his case. His debut episode ends with Mentok declaring, "I don't know what just happened but, what the hell, not guilty!" and it's treated like a happy ending for the heroes; but Harvey wanted a guilty verdict this time! His client was the one pressing charges, for a wrongful termination. Since Inch lost that case, and thus didn't get his job back, that explains why he remains in the law firm, assisting Harvey. He has no where else to go, and working as Harvey's private detective (and occasional sketch artist) is probably the only job he could find.
    • He may also have stayed for Reducto, the one person who actually pays attention to him.

Fridge Horror
  • The sheer amount of relationships that arguably count as beasteality. Many of the romantic/sexual relationships on the show occur between a human and a (anthropomorphized) animal. (Harvey/Booboo Bear; G.G. and Peter Potamus; etc.) Harvey had a relationship with a bear! And there's a hippopotamus in his office that consistently lusts after human women, and often gets to third base with them!
  • In one post-"Dabba-Don" episode, Judge Mightor is seen in a compromising position with Betty Rubble. Betty's husband, Barney Rubble, was revealed to be the mob boss at the end of "The Dabba-Don." Of the very mob that tried (twice!) to kill Mightor. Mightor is fooling around with the wife of the leader of the gang that wants him dead! Mightor clearly likes to live dangerously.
  • Just what is Inch doing inside Harvey's fly? (Or G.G.'s bra, for that matter?)
