Fridge Brilliance

  • How is Frieren always unhurt when she constantly triggers mimics? By surrounding her neck with concentrated mana, just as she does against Draht's deadly wire.
  • Sense likely anticipated her replica being the strongest obstacle in the Ruins of the King's Tomb, if not for Frieren's presence. First-class mages have to be strong, and what better way to show this than to defeat a first-class mage like her?
  • After the examinees realize during the second first-class mage exam that Sense's Spiegel replica has to be present, they call Sense out for making things unnecessarily more difficult for them. Sense brushes it off by saying that this is still a reasonable challenge that they have to deal with and in hindsight it makes perfect sense for her to say that. She knows Übel, her worst match-up, is among the examinees, so the Sense replica would have no chance.
  • Serie is known for her 100% accurate Gut Feeling. So when she partners her first-class mages up, they all will fit. Genau (who in some ways is similar to Serie) was always partnered with social and empathetic people to bring out his Hidden Heart of Gold.
  • Elves in general having a low drive to procreate makes sense when you consider their long lives. If they reproduced as fast as humans, they could end up with massive overpopulation.
  • Powerful mages in general are shown to be very stoic in nature, especially in combat, rarely reacting strongly to anything including serious injuries. This is implied to be a necessary part of being a mage, and thus a focus of their training, as Lawine notes the moment of panic Richter expressed (when he realized Kanne now had access to an immense amount of rain water) was all it took to interfere with his mana control enough for her to briefly freeze him in place (whereas before her ice could not form around him at all).
  • Demons have existed alongside humans since at least the Age of Mythology, yet it was only with the advent of the Great Demon King around a thousand years ago that their depredations became a threat to the very existence of other sapient species. This was due to more than the demon king forcing the demons to organize much more than they normally would, but ironically due to his goals, namely "peaceful" coexistence. Normally demons only view humans as potential prey, and predators generally do not kill off their food supply. So it is demons who take an interest in humans beyond prey that are the most dangerous. This is because demons seemingly cannot conceive of any relationship with a human that does not involve eventually killing them (even Macht's decades long relationship with Glück was done with the intention of killing him, as Macht was curious if he would feel something from killing a human he spent a lot of time with first). The result is mass killing that has nothing to do with eating (Solitär on her own killing entire cities of people simply to learn a bit about them in the process). Frieren implies the coexistence goals of the Great Demon King caused such an upsurge in death and destruction that even close to a hundred years after he was slain humanity is still only a third of what it was before he came to power. Overlaps with Fridge Horror.
  • Himmel couldn't draw the Hero's Sword because as great as the crisis caused by the Great Demon King was, it did not match the prophecy. Namely, that the one who pulls the sword would be the hero to defeat something that threatens to destroy the world. The Demon King was a threat to humanity, but not to the world itself.

Fridge Horror

  • After Macht is defeated and Weise is freed, what will happen to the many other people that Frieren hasn't freed yet? Has she taught anyone else the Diagoldze dispel magic?
  • Macht killed and impaled the people who entered Weise for greed or to challenge him and then turned them to gold. After Frieren removed Macht's curse, the city must have been surrounded by a fresh and gory row of corpses.
