Fridge Brilliance
  • Disguising yourself as a Ghoul, Guard or Lord of Flies works in tricking the actual monsters because their mental capacity is clearly quite limited. All ghoul enemies are generally non-intelligent beasts, Guards can't hold a proper conversation if you try talking to them and the Lord of Flies can't even remember the fact it was created, so it's not too farfetched to imagine that neither monster would be bright enough to notice the disguise. As for Dark Priests, their garment covers up any distinguishing features, so they likely wouldn't notice that one of their own is being impersonated.
  • It seems strange at first to have a pinecone of all things be a symbol of fortune, but Termina retroactively provides an in-universe explanation in the form of Vinushka. Compared to the other gods we see, he appears to be a relatively more benevolent deity and has what looks like a pinecone head. It's possible that the pinecone has been largely associated with the nature god, leading to it becoming a symbol of good luck.
  • Sylvian not tolerating pedophilia makes sense not just meta-wise, where depicting it would obviously lead to lots of problems with releasing the game, but also lore-wise if you consider her motives or desires. She wants her creations to express love and pleasure with each other, and while her definition of either can be sketchy, it can still be understood as "both parties reciprocating and enjoying it." As Squick inducing as it is, bestiality can still follow under this definition, since the animal involved might be unable to properly communicate consent, but it could show physical arousal. The instances of necrophilia in the game also adhere to this, as the Ghoul is willing to take part in the Marriage ritual while using Demon Seed on a corpse would still be in her favor since it creates life in the Demon Kid. Acts of pedophilia, though? A child is highly unlikely to even show physical enjoyment in the act or produce new life as a result of it, which in Sylvian's eyes, could make it a desecration of her "love" and reason enough to harshly punish you. Not to mention the fact that a child is essentially a living "symbol" of new life and creation, and thus, harming one would be a great offense to Sylvian.
  • The Salmonsnake soul gives the player immunity to limb loss and of course, it comes from an enemy that resembles an axolotl. In Real Life, axolotls are able to regenerate lost limbs.

Fridge Horror

  • The Marriage:
    • So... what exactly happens to the consciousness of those involved in a Marriage? Whatever possibilities are there look rather unpleasant or uncomfortable.
      • If one consciousness is more "dominant," then what does that mean for the other person's consciousness? Are they stuck in some sort of coma like state, forever tied to the body? Do they witness and experience things as they still do, but can't control the body? Are they essentially dead, with the other person taking over?
      • If both parties' consciousness have been melded together, then it just brings up more questions. How would conflicting feelings between the parties work? What if they had differing opinions or feelings on the same person? One has to wonder just how a Marriage between Ragnvaldr and D'arce would've reacted to Le'garde.
    • There's no indication whatsoever that a Marriage can be undone, being a permanent fixture. Which means that in the scenario where the protagonist made it out of the Dungeons after forming a Marriage, then there's truly no way that they could ever return to a normal life. Sure, you're alive and well, but how exactly are you going to reintegrate into society? Especially given how deformed the Marriage looks. Worse yet, what would happen to whatever attachments or relationships you have?
  • Sure, the Harvestman that snatches The Girl is only petting her when you manage to find them. But keep in mind that not only are the things pretty damn creepy, they can break your limbs and kill you by shoving one of their arms up your anus. It's pretty damn fortunate that you get there and save The Girl before anything else could happen.
  • It's unclear how long The Girl was stuck in the cage until you find and, if you choose to do so, break her out. It's likely that she could've died from starvation without your interventionnote .
    • Worse yet, since the Dungeons themselves are where some of the worst criminals are imprisoned, what would've happened to her if a criminal was placed not far from where her cage is located? Even worse, what if said criminal is totally ok with harming children?
    • What if one of the many monsters of the dungeons stumbled upon her cage? What if a Night Lurch or (god forbid) a Guard managed to stumble upon the cage?
  • The Cavemother appears to be constantly pregnant, has numerous offspring that she can also call in to help her fight, and there are cave locations filled with the countless eggs she has laid. The question is… just how has she managed to reproduce at such an alarming rate? Then you notice that some parts of the cave are filled with the naked corpses of previous explorers, some of which appear to be male explorers and look like they had been killed just a bit recently. Add in the fact that her children, the Cave Gnomes, look vaguely humanoid and it's quite likely that she had captured and forced herself upon previous explorers who were unfortunate enough to stumble upon her. It makes you wonder what she would've done to you if you played as the male characters and lost to her.
