Fridge / Drake & Josh

Fridge Brilliance:

  • Tiberius repeatedly attacking Drake and Josh makes perfect sense when you remember how much Mrs. Hayfer hates Drake.
  • "Driver's License", in a way, foreshadowed the events of "Josh Is Done." A common theme in the show is that at school, Drake is the cool guy who can slide his way through things, while Josh has to work twice as hard to get half the credit. But outside of a school environment, this dynamic doesn't exist: Drake's charm means nothing and he fails his test due to his reckless behavior, while Josh, despite his social awkwardness, obeys the rules and passes. This episode showed how Drake's charm and good looks would mean nothing while Josh's competence and hard work would mean great dividends.
  • In "Josh Is Done," Drake learns not to take Josh for granted, regrets the way he's been treating him, and clearly really means it when he apologizes for all the trouble he's always caused him, but of course Aesop Amnesia kicks in and he keeps getting Josh in trouble in all subsequent episodes like always, right? Wait a minute... Just what happens in the subsequent episodes?
    • "Megan's Revenge": Josh causes the trouble because he can't resist taking a picture of Megan's hamster; he willingly agreed to Drake's suggestion to borrow the camera, Drake didn't lie about it do anything to hurt him, and they would have been fine if it weren't for Josh taking that picture.
    • "Steered Straight": Josh willingly agrees to use the fake IDs — Drake doesn't lie to him, abandon him, or screw him over for his own benefit. In fact, Drake only suggested it because Josh's favorite band was playing that night. Stupid as his idea was, he really thought he was being nice.
    • "Megan's First Kiss": Not Drake's fault Megan dated a cheater who beat them up.
    • "Battle of Panthatar": Drake didn't know Maria was Thornton's girlfriend — the mess is not his fault, but Josh makes things even worse when his plan almost costs Drake his album (which Drake painfully agreed to give up when Josh asked him to).
    • "Helicopter": The trouble starts because when Josh tells Drake, "No more free tickets," Drake listens. He then apparently planned to sneak out to go skydiving without involving Josh. Drake's not even the one who suggests Josh join him!
    • "Dance Contest": While Drake stealing Josh's first choice of dance partner certainly isn't selfless, she's not the only dancer on the planet, and Josh is easily able to find another equally talented partner. Drake competing against his brother also isn't selfless, but it's true that Drake needs the extra credit more than Josh does. It's not like he cheated or sabotaged Josh's chance to win. In the end, Drake's the one who comes up with a plan to get them both what they want, and it works.
    • "Really Big Shrimp": Josh is the one who (completely unintentionally) screws Drake over!
    • After "Josh Is Done," there are no episodes about Drake exploiting or abandoning Josh or casually letting him get hurt without caring like he used to. He actually backs off when Josh warns him to and gives in when Josh asks him for stuff. Status Quo Is God: Averted!
  • Sure it's obvious how Drake got arrested but how did Josh get arrested in Merry Christmas Drake & Josh? Butt-Monkey Running Gag. The cops mistook Josh to be one of the party crashers, much like he was also arrested in "Theater Thug".
  • Josh's Hollywood Homely status goes explained in "Football" when he was still a chubby but lovable dork. Drake said "It's an attitude" and immediately impresses a girl. Drake is calm, charismatic, and smooth-talking. Josh, while a great guy, is socially awkward, easily stressed, and emotional. The former leaves a far better first impression when dating. "Who's Got Game" shows that Josh can get dates almost as easily as Drake if he was relaxed and more socially ept.

Fridge Horror:

  • In the Christmas Movie, Josh learned about why Officer Gilbert hated Christmas, because the monkey he got as a kid peed on him and ruined his Christmas. Now put this into perspective: a monkey is not some calm animal like Curious George as they can be vicious when push come to shove, they can easily overpower (and maul) a full grown man much less a kid, and there are cases where they can easily and violently turn on their masters like the Infamous "Travis the Chimp" story. Safe to say, Officer Gilbert really got off lucky with his first monkey if all it did was pee on him.
    • With the above and knowing that he was given a new monkey (even if the monkey has a sweeter temperament), safe to say that Gilbert might be putting himself at risk of an attack unless he looks into proper care and precautions.
