What exactly is stopping Goku or any of the Z Fighters from helping Gohan and Trunks from the afterlife? Death didn't stop any of them from contacting their friends and family from the afterlife in the two previous sagas. This makes Future Gohan's conflict quite puzzling.
For that matter, where the hell is King Kai? Why doesn't he bother to contact any of the others that are still alive? The Supreme Kais at least have the out of universe excuse that they weren't thought up at the time. Considering the intervention when the Saiyan's originally showed up, there's really no excuse for him to not be contacting them now.
So why exactly are there functioning amusement parks and clothing stores still in the future ruled by homicidal Androids? The implication seems to be that 17 and 18 disappear every few years to let mankind rebuild just a bit so that they can maximize their enjoyment from killing. Apparently though, they give humans less and less time in between as by the time Trunks returns from the past after defeating Cell there appears to be no undestroyed locations left.
How come nobody thinks about hopping on a spaceship going to New Namek to wish everyone back? Gohan and Bulma literally talk about their adventures on Namek to Trunks yet it never comes to mind they can bring back their fallen comrades as many times as they want, if King Kai could only contact them for once! Bulma herself is capable of building a freakin time machine, so the chances of building a new space ship that is an exact replica of the original isn’t far off.
