Fridge / Amnesia: Rebirth

Go To

  • Fridge Horror:
    • In The Dark Descent, Alexander is desperate to return to his own world, and the loved ones he left behind there. However, as Herbert's observations of the other world show, it had already been destroyed by the cataclysm before the events of the first game. Even if Alexander completes his ritual at the end of The Dark Descent, he will find his home destroyed and everyone he knew dead.
    • This does make things confusing as Weyer was alive and talking to Alexander and Agrippa. If Alexander's loved ones were dead, why would Weyer just not tell him that so that Alexander would give up his mad plan? Besides that, if they are surviving holdouts in the other world, then where are they and what happened to Daniel if the Canon ending is one where he is implied to ascend to that plain of existence? Hell, Weyer could have been doing Alexander a favor for not bringing him back, but then why offer to bring Daniel there for saving Agrippa?
    • Keep in mind that Rebirth takes place 98 years after The Dark Descent. It's possible that Alexander's world was destroyed sometime between the two games.
    • Or it was an unrelated third world entirely, we already know that some sort of multiverse exists and there is no reason for it to not have more than two worlds. The many buttons/coordinate configuration at the dimensional gates seem to imply that there were a multitude of realms available for travel.
      • The note found near Herbert's body describes the Other World as already in ruins by the time of his arrival there, which must have been shortly after he acquired the Orb, given that this was how he managed to escape the Shadow. This occurred in 1839, the same year in which The Dark Descent is set, so it's possible that he arrived after the events of the first game, but not by very long.
