Under The Bed is a Horror Movie by Steven C. Miller.
Neal Hausman is a teenager who's finally returned from a two-year retreat at his aunt's house following a fire that he may have started that took the life of his mother. When he gets back, he's welcomed by open arms by his family (except for his father), which includes his new step-mom, Angela, and his little brother, Paulie.
When Neal meets up with Paulie, they start talking about a trauma they now both share. Namely, there's a monster living under Neal's bed that's been tormenting Neal for years, and has now set its sights on Paulie while Neal was away. So, the two brothers decide to concoct a plan to get rid of the monster once and for all.
The movie was released on July 29th, 2012.
Under The Bed contains examples of:
- Ax-Crazy: By the climax, the monster isn’t even trying to be subtle and goes on a violent killing rampage in its pursuit of Paulie and Neal.
- Catapult Nightmare: Paulie nods off in his theater group and has a nightmare that has him waking up screaming and freaking out.
- Cool Big Bro: Neal fills this role for Paulie. It helps that they've both been targeted by the monster, so they have that in common.
- Eldritch Location: The underside of Neal's bed contains a portal to the monster's realm, which looks like some kind of bog in perpetual dawn.
- Humanoid Abomination: The monster, when it finally makes an onscreen appearance, looks like an albino, emaciated Toxic Avenger.
- Kill It with Fire: Neal may have started a fire in his house, which took the life of his mom. He did start it in an attempt to get rid of the monster, but said monster survived it.
- MacGyvering: Neal and Paulie make a weapon to use against the monster by taping a bunch of flashlights to a broom.
- Missing Mom: Neal's mom died before the start of the movie in a fire that Neal started to try to kill the monster under his bed.
- Nightmare Sequence: Paulie falls asleep in his theater group and has a nightmare. It ends with a man with black gunk on his face shouting "Wake Up!", whereupon Paulie wakes up and freaks out.
- Off with His Head!: The monster kills one of the Evans boys by ripping off his head with its bare hands.
- Ominous Fog: When the monster's about to appear, one thing that happens is that the room fills up with fog.
