The Undertaker is an American Slasher Movie by Frank Avianca and Steve Bono.
Roscoe (Joe Spinell) is the titular undertaker at a small town mortuary. He's quiet, keeps to his job, does it well... and has a nasty habit of killing people and hiding them in his basement. No one is safe from his murderous tendencies, not locals, not his nephew Nick (Patrick Astin), not any woman he comes across.
The movie was released in November 1988.
The Undertaker contains examples of:
- Bound and Gagged: Roscoe ties a woman by her hands to two trees and tapes over her mouth early on in the movie. He then proceeds to gut her.
- Creepy Basement: Roscoe's office at the funeral home is located in the basement. His office is where he keeps the bodies of his victims... in bags suspended from a pipe.
- Creepy Mortician: Roscoe.
- Crocodile Tears: Roscoe starts shedding these to the police when they interview him.
- Danger Takes A Back Seat: Roscoe kills a man in his car by leaping out at him from behind.
- Disappeared Dad: Nick's dad left him before the events of the movie, as revealed by Roscoe.
- Eye Scream: Roscoe kills one of his victims by stabbing him in the eye with a knife.
- Facial Horror: When Roscoe kills who he at first thinks is Ms. Hayes, he presses her face against the stove top, burning half of it.
- Gainax Ending: Roscoe has murdered much of the cast, and it seems is now ready to go after Ms. Hayes... then the corpse of one of his victims proceeds to strangle him.
- Handguns: In one scene, a man is shown to own one. He may have intended to use it to kill the one behind the murders, except then Roscoe attacks him from his car's back seat.
- Job Title: The Undertaker, of course.
- Joggers Find Death: Zigzagged. One jogger doesn't find a dead body, or witness a murder. However, he does slip while out jogging and lands in a puddle of blood.
- Missing Mom: Nick's mom is stated by Roscoe to have died before the events of the movie.
- Murderer P.O.V.: Sometimes, the camera will switch to this view when Roscoe's stalking his intended victim.
- Nightmare Sequence: Nick has one about Roscoe forcing him to get close to a dead body.
- Off with His Head!: Roscoe is revealed at the end of the movie to have decapitated Mandy.
- Shower Scene: Pam has one in the middle of the movie.
- Slashed Throat: How Roscoe kills his first victim in the movie, as evident by the blood on her throat.
- He also kills one of two police detectives investigating him by slicing his throat open with a knife.
- White Gloves: Roscoe has some. He sometimes uses them when committing murder.
